I tried this today, summons a tiger looking beast for 12 seconds. Basicly an extra pet for the duration plus a little focus regen. Need to get a damage meter working to figure out how much dps the cooldown is worth. :)

There are a few different types of Beasts. From what I've noticed so far is a light skinned tiger, tan skinned tiger, and a very large beetle.

They scale with gear and can Crit. They also show up on agro table as if it were your own pet, easily "tanking" a mob that has been proximity pulled.

From what I've tested they will scale with your Crit, Hit, and Expertise. But not with your haste. I was unable to get them to attack more than 6 times per summon. My testing numbers ranged from 6 attacks at 0 haste to 6 attacks at over 5,000 haste (40%).

They gain no increased damage from the ability if used as a BM hunter, and Bestial Wrath has no effect on Call Beast either.

Currently (4/3/2012 Build 15508) on the PTR they are bugged, incurring no cooldown when used so they can literally be spammed and will swarm your target.

An entertaining aside... when I called a "swarm" of them in the LFD 5man the tank immediately ran back to me in the back of the group and attempted to "tank" them as he thought they were adds.

The beast summoned is dependent on zone. For example, while I was in the Jade Forest, it would summon porcupines and tigers but in Valley of Four Winds, it summoned a mushan and turtles.

Wondering what I'll get if I go to Icecrown :O

Summons a random pet that attacks the target.
It's hitpoints are pretty low (20% of the Hunter's HP) and it can be attacked by enemies.
It does around 50% more auto attack damage then the Hunter's pet but only uses auto attacks with a 2s base speed.

Depending on your haste you'll get 7 to 8 +5 focus procs this way if everything goes well.
Still... when I left my pet on auto attack it always did 50% to 100% more dps then this summoned pet which is because my pet doesn't only use auto attacks.

Seeing all this:
-low HP
-low damage
-no special abilites
-focus isn't that hard to get nowadays

I'd say: Don't pick that talent. It's by far too weak.

Dire Beast summons a temporary pet (simply called Beast) which will auto-attack whatever creature you had targeted when you activated the ability. You cannot actively control the Beast: if its current target dies, it will behave as if it is in the Defensive pet stance. Depending on where your character is, the physical appearance of the Beast will be randomly selected from one of three different skins; this is a purely cosmetic mechanic and has no effect on the Beast's stats or abilities.

Edit: Scenarios are considered to be part of whatever zone they actually occupy and will produce appropriate pets. For example, Theramore's Fall is part of Kalimdor, while A Brewing Storm is part of Jade Forest.

Edit 2: On rare occasions you will summon a critter instead of one of the normal three skins. These critters may or may not be zone-specific; I don't have enough data to know for certain.

This is a really fun way to keep your focus up. It's got 50% uptime, and with my current gear I can oftentimes spam arcane shot while it's up.

If you cast this and then cast Readiness, you can cast it again and have two temporary beasts up at the same time.

Does the mastery of BM hunters affect the damage done by the extra pet?

While I was at Townlong Steppes doing the shado-pan dailies it summoned a BEAVER.

And it happened quite often. I just hope this means beavers will eventually be a hunter pet. I just hate the fact as a BM hunter you are stuck with a spirit beast, since any other choice is just silly.

This talent can be macroed, but it is affected with global cooldown, so if you macro it with arcane shot you will have to press the macro twice. It's focus regen utility is just bonus.. you should try keeping the beast up at all times.

Anyone else noticed that ocassionally the summoned beast will attack other mobs in close proximity? A number of times when using this and stampede, the summoned pets attack other targets, as if they were on old school aggressive. Causes havoc both in and out of dungeons if you're pulling only specific targets. Just wondered if anyone else was having this issue...

Actually, to me it seems that it doesn't work like summoning a pet from a random list for the zone. Instead it seems to summon a pet similar to beasts or critters in my close proximity. But not sure if that is so.

I believe that, depending on what continent (Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Pandaria, Vashj'ir, Northrend, or Outlands) you are on, plus possibly faction of character, different beasts may spawn when using the spell.

Seems to summon either a Devilsaur, Direhorn or a Pterodactyl-thing on the Isle of Thunder.

On the Timeless Isle, my Dire Beast turns into one of those blue frogs. It'd be a lot more dire if it applied the same 10 stack = death debuff as the actual mob. :D

I made a macro to use Fervor and Dire Beast without having to change buttons on bars - it changes icon and tooltip depending on talent you're using.
