There is not a place called Nijel's Point Ruin that i could find. I went to the entrance at the base of the hill before it leads you up to the main Nijel's Point area. There will be two guards standing down there. You start your vortex there. If you go up any higher, at your level the guards will nuke you.

"Nijel's Point Ruin" is the archway in the entrance at the bottom of the hill, which you can see when you mouse over it.

The storm will carry you in circles around Nijel's Point as many times as you need. Use your Flashfire ability to burn down guards and merchants where they stand, or just let the storm run them over to see them get launched extremely high and catch fire in the air. Either method produces a lot of screaming, so turn up your speakers and enjoy.

Button 4 will carry you back to Furien's Post when you're done.

Considering that you likely had just completed the quests for Stonetalon Mountain before this quest chain and had Garrosh Hellscream drill into your head the importance of not slaughtering civilians, does anyone else find it a bit odd that the final step of this chain has you going out of your way to kill merchants? Merchants that likely had nothing to do with shooting down a blood elf carelessly flying into an Alliance base's airspace?

I mean, I understand the killing of the guards, but .... yeesh.

Garrosh probably can't portal out to every single time someone screws up and give a "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE" speech, though.

edit: I'm not saying or even trying to claim that the Horde alone is guilty of killing civilians, it's just.... come on now. You just got lectured by a huge brown Orc that was >yeh< close to grabbing you by the neck and pitching you off of a cliff. Can't you (your character) be the bigger guy, or at least demonstrate you've learned something? (then again I really wasn't impressed by the questing in Desolace, so I go to South Barrens -- I guess that resolves that).

thought I would mention this since no-one else did. Button #1 is a ranged attack feature called Flash fire or something.

Too my retarded-ness, I took off in the vortex, floated around for four or five minutes watching defenders fly through the air. 5/15 merchants dead. Got bored, went for a smoke. Came back 5 min later and was at 6/15 merchants...zomgwtfbrbbbq.

use #1 to kill the merchants at range or this will take a LONG time. Most merchants stay well out of the vortex's path. Fun quest all-in-all.

#1 says it will kill anything within 40 yards range - But clearly it is not working as intended. I just targeted the merchants that I wanted to kill before pushing #1 and they were dead.

As mentioned above, zooming in makes it much easier to see the merchants and target them before hitting 1.

Also worth mentioning, if you turn on nameplates (by hitting V) it makes it much easier to pick out merchants from defenders, as you zoom by in your fiery whirlwind...

The problem with this one is that you can't direct where the flame goes so you have to wait 10 min. for the merchants to die.

Pfft vengeance is a #$%^& ;-). Civilians have always been targetted during wars, Hiroshima for example. Not saying its right but it can be an effective method. At the end of the day war is brutal on both soldiers and civilians.

As a final note when you are flying back to the camp, be careful, I disappeared on a bathroom break and came back to find myself nearly dead after landing, getting my backside chewed off by a pack of hyenas whilst the NPC belfs stood there and idily watched.

You're misinformed too. Camp Taurajo was attacked during nighttime, when the hunters were absent (so basically almost no defense, one or two guards, you can find their corpses in Camp Taurajo), Wildhammer Gryphon Riders firebombed Taurajo, and most of the ground soldiers were ex-stormwind stockades criminals. Perfect strategy for minimising civilians casualities I would say !

There is a Horde quest where you're able to catch the last moments of the civilians who were murdered during the attack, I'm quoting two comments from these civilians :

Yonada (Tailoring Supplier)
Yonada's Spirit says: Alliance - they've surrounded the camp! What are they doing here? Why are they attacking Taurajo? Get the children - run! RUN!

Krulmoo (Skinning Trainer)

Krulmoo's Spirit says: I ran to wake up the others when the attack hit. Were they able to escape? I tried to fight off the soldiers with a skinning knife...

I did this event on both an Alliance Character and a Horde character. And I'm inclined to say that a night attack on an almost defenseless civilian camp with aerial bombing isn't really a "fair and square" war tactic.

This quest sucks. You can't control the firestorm; it takes forever for it move in it's circle to kill the fifteen merchants you need. The forty defenders are easy to get though as they are more numerous. I walked away to go to the bathroom and the stupid thing still wasn't done. In fact, I'm still waiting for the dumb storm to make it's rounds while I talk smack on it in this post.

This quest should be amazing. Flying around on a fiery whirlwind bringing death to my enemies should be a rollicking good time.

Sadly, whoever designed it needs to be smacked.

The quest description tells you to use the item at Nijel's Point Ruin. The area marked on your map? Not Nijel's Point Ruin, just plain old Nijel's Point. Running in there to use the item will result in an unpleasant death as you are quickly slaughtered by level 40 PVP flagged guards.

There is nowhere on your map marked Nijel's Point Ruin. At all. Instead, you are looking for an archway in front of Nijel's Point, but nothing in the quest text or on your map points you to this.

After you figure that out, you are then shoved into the aforementioned fiery whirlwind of death. Awesome! Oh, wait...

Once inside the whirlwind you have absolutely no control over the direction you travel in. The merchants you need to kill are few and far between, and they are painfully hard to target before your whirlwind spins you away. You'll spend the next few minutes getting more and more annoyed as you try to distinguish the merchants from the defenders and click before getting flown out of range.

Seriously, how did this quest go so wrong? I wanted to like it but it was an exercise in frustration. You had me in a flaming whirlwind of death and it wasn't even fun. Something is not right here.

You can't control the vortex, so you have to wait until killing is all done.

If you hover your mouse over the first pillars at the entrance to Nijel's Point, it says Nijel's Point Ruins.

Just to clarify when you stand at the archway and summon the vortex you will be phased to a non pvp zone of the point. What I seen ppl try to go inside and die from being flagged or overpowered. So no need to panic if some of you think you need to pvp for this quest.

I didnt have a wowhead account, I created one just to point out how frustratingly bad this quest is.

As has been pointed out this quest could easily be an original and plesant experience questwise but whoever designed it obviously didnt give a fig about playability or creating a quality game experience. They should be fired. End of.

You have to do a google search to find out how to manually adjust the camera to see anything.

You can only attack mobs directly below you which is a pain in the arse because you cant steer.

The tornado didnt circle, it brought me straight to over the griffon master at the very edge of the area (out of range of any mobs) and then started to make its merry way back to Furiens post. Mashing the only other command 'calm the storm' brought me only back to above the griffon master.

Frustrating, unplesant, disapointing.

Though you can't control the movement of the vortex you can control the camera and you can select/click the merchants and then press 1 to burn them. This speeds up a (so far) very annoying quest experience in Desolace.
I definitely killed every Satyr at least 3 times on my way to this quest ...

I'm also under the expression that the cataclysm quest designers very much rely on the integrated quest helper, i. e. mark an area on the map instead of spend some time on explaining the quest objective.

I must say I agree with you. What have you learned form Stonetalon mountain? No, indeed the Alliance are not innocent either... but somewhere someone has to be willing to say... this madness ends with me or it just keeps perpetuating itself.

I'm playing a Blood-elf Paladin, I try to play him as heroically as I can. Yes, Elune may be the Night Elf goddess... but why would I have any particular hatred of her worshipers... or her for that matter? Especially the spirits of her disciples who are long dead? Those disciples did not kill Furian... I'd much rather feed the Gem the life energies of the Satyrs who are certainly in leagues with the REAL ENEMY of "AZAROTH'S PEOPLE"...THE BURNING LEGION!

As a paladin I think respect for people of faith even the 'enemy', and reverence for the dead should hold some importance!

The Horde/Alliance war is foolish...as it focuses attention on those who are just as interested in saving Azaroth, when we should really be fighting the BURNING LEGION and the SCOURGE!

Now: All RPing aside ... yes this quest chain seemed interesting enough to begin with but fell short of the mark. I was hoping it would also be a morale story where you found out in the end her brother had been seeking a peaceful solution and was unfortunately felled. I was hoping you would get the chance to show his sister that the path of vengeance was not the way that out of respect for the work her brother devoted his research and life to was not in vain.

Sadly I was wholly disappointed, this was nothing more than another bout of mindless destruction and dogmatic 'FOR THE HORDE' sloganry. I guess I expected too much.

For the record.. I'm not completing this chain... and keeping the Gem, neat toy. Its not the first quest chain I have abandoned ... I doubt it will be the last. But I'm still level 85 with no signs of stopping... My main character Tristanhawke has behaved honorably, and heroically, avoiding the use of torture, senseless violence or petty vengeance in all his actions... there should be a achievement other than the satisfaction in my own heart, but in the end... does any achievement other than how you feel matter anyways?

I didn't have any problem getting the guards, but the 15 merchants were difficult because they were out of the way, back in corners, no where near the path of the funnel.. I had to spam 1 and tab to get to 13. The last 2 I had to try to click as I swooped past in the funnel. I think having a macro to target the merchants would go a long way making this easier.

When finally finding the damn ruin, after cheating an checking here, I actually thought this Q was really nice. Took me about 50 sec to get all my guys, but continued playing around for another five minutes. I love hearing Alliance scream. >:D

And my father came in during the quest. He said 'Do you ever learn something from that quest?' and I answered 'Yes. If you get a 40 meter burning tornado up your ass you'll fly about 200 meters up in the air, screaming your penis off and burn before dying a very quick death once you hit the ground.' He looked at me as if I was crazy and left.

Go to the Arch right in front of Nijel's Point (it is the only arch at the bottom of the road leading into Nijel's point) Click on the crystal, sit back, enjoy the slaughter.

There is NO area NAMED Nijel's Point Ruin. It is just the archway at the bottom of the hill before you even start to walk up inside.

More bull^&*! designed by interns who are paid minimum wage. The "ruins" aren't even in the game, it's an arch at the base of the hill to Nijel's Point.

Arriving at the base of Nijel's Point--Just below the 2 PVP guards, there is an archway that when moused over, shows the ruins. Simply cast the vortex and you are along for the ride. Spam Flashfire ability, it's an easy quest, except it is time consuming to get the 15 merchants as they are slow to respawn, the defenders were fast.

Nijel's Point Ruin is the stone first structure where the road to Nijel's Point is. Use your Raging Vortex Gem there to summon your Raging Vortex.
Once you are in the Raging Vortex, you will be moved automatically. All you need to do is click the Defenders and Merchants and spam Flashfire. Once you're done, click Calm the Storm to return to Furien's Post.

There's two things to point about this quest line for me:

Firstly, if you are already in a shapeshift form, the vortex won't grab you to take you on a rampage.
Secondly, while I can understand the reason for our characters to complete Furien's endeavor, I thought the whole quest line was rather shallow, not to mention how awkward most of it was to do (such as the gathering of Satyr Sabers).

Most of the quest chain is actually fine despite those things, as there have been much worse quests in the game in the past; but the part about Elune's gem creating a firestorm, and the shrines being so trivially guarded by (probably) somewhat clueless satyrs... It simply doesn't make much sense to me.

Nowhere else in the game (correct me if I'm wrong) is there such a powerful artifact just lying there waiting to be used so trivially.

From a lore standpoint, this is quite possibly the worst quest I've ever done in World of Warcraft.

As retaliation for the slaying of a blood elf, I must slaughter 15 civilian merchants!

There are times when I really don't get what the devs at Blizzard are thinking.
