These creatures have a wide range in the realm of the world map(s). However, they can almost solely be found in caves and/or underground areas, excepting a few wandering the Un'goro area. In appearance, they look like your average brown or black mouse or rat. They have a simple 'squeaking' sound as their sound-on-click.

This is the only critter you'll find in Ironforge for the Big City Pet Brawlin' - Alliance achievement.

Found as a secondary on Jaguero Isle. Found Crimson Moth there as secondary as well.

I hung out in Un'Goro for quite awhile looking for a spawn and battling the spawns that were up to try to get one to spawn. I was surprised that none did come up, since no one on Wowhead had mentioned it being a difficult pet to find.
Finally, tired of waiting, I went into the cave (where Ah-Me was, if you all recall) nearby the oil fields and started killing off the critters there. The cave has nothing but cockroaches and long-tailed moles in it.
I cleared the critters and then came back out and killed a few more by the oil fields. The very next battle pet to spawn was an uncommon Long-tailed Mole.

Good luck to you all. And as a sidenote.. please remind people to post about battle pets under the actual battle pet, I keep having to look up the battle pet AND the npc (critter) link in order to get battle pet info, dunno what that's all about. Thanks!

I farmed for a rare in Ironforge. I found that if you run around killing the critters, the battle-pets respawn nicely. I found the first rare after about 15 minutes of this. Unfortunately I killed it because it was level 1 and I forgot to change pets out first :) .... Then about an hour later I got another rare. I didn't mind though, because I love hanging out in Ironforge. Happy hunting!
