I've never used my Loot-A-Rang before and at first I didn't see the point of this glyph (even as a non-engineer) until it came to my attention that WoW is finally introducing mass looting for nearby corpses. This little spell will be very desirable for every hunter who's grinding/killing something at range (which we almost always do) and not having to run to our corpses and pick everything up one body at a time.

Just play fetch with your pet and continue the killing, much more efficient.

Very neat glyph, but doesn't quite function as smoothly as I'd hoped.

Firstly, the matter of clicking the target to be looted, then clicking Fetch - the macro posted by capitao does greatly help, but what would be nicer would be to not have to click any target at all, just kill something, hit Fetch and then the loot window pop open once the pet reaches the mob.

Secondly, the fact that if you're running when your pet loots the target, the loot window doesn't open at all - so you have to make sure you're stationary whilst the looting takes place. It'd be much better to be able to run off toward the next mob or whatever and not have to worry about waiting for the loot window to pop.

Just my thoughts - they may not be accurate as I haven't used it much yet, but there ya go!

This will make the Fetch tooltip appear, cast fetch at your existing target if one exists, otherwise it will go after the last target you had.

This allows you to still control which target gets looted if you kill two apart from one another.

Edit: Without the /cast part, if you wanted to loot something else, say you killed mob A first then mob B, and you want to loot mob A, you'd have to first target it, untarget it, then hit the macro. With it, you can hit it to loot mob B, then click mob A and have fido chase after mob A to loot it.

Even with AoE looting, if mobs are too far apart you won't loot everything in one shot.

Editagain: This glyph, currently WoWhead doesn't show where to learn it. I had thought, since it's minor, I'd have to use minor glyph research. I learned two glyphs (though I was already done with them ages ago) that were previously added that I hadn't bothered with, but then today didn't learn anything. Decided to visit the trainer, where this glyph is taught.

Another edit: Another alternative is to bind this macro to a mouse button (say middle) and use

I'm sure a few were skeptical like me at first, but after coming here and finding the macros so I don't have to continually target something to use it, this can be a very handy tool. While it is simple enough for me to just run over to a mob and loot it, I foresee a much better use for those times when I suddenly find myself trying to loot a target I can't reach.

An example would be the drake in Blasted Lands, I killed him, but he somehow landed on the SIDE of the mountain and I had to forfeit the loot because I couldn't grab it. However, I have noticed that pets and other similar critters don't rely on the same physics as player characters, they can scale walls and mountains to reach you.

Now, I could be wrong, it may still say it's out of reach, I won't know until I try, but seeing as how I've had pets run up and down slopes that I couldn't with the "move to" command, I'm betting this will work :D

The Fetch spell here Fetch says that it has a 100 yard range. I just tested it and it's actually 50.

Kill a mob with Arcane Shot which has a 40 yard range, take a few steps back and Fetch. It will work. You will get an out of range error if you go a little further back.

I'd also like to mention that with Trebormojo's macro, you cast fetch while running but you have to stop dead in your tracks before your pet's fetch cast bar finishes so in its current state, it's awkward to use and slower than using my Engineer's Loot-A-Rang.

I use this so i didn't have to bind a new key, loots either your mouseover or if you have a dead mob targeted.

You currently have to stop moving before your pet finishes casting "Fetch" or it won't loot at all. It does AoE loot.

This glyph is great for a number reasons. It will not break Prowl which is super handy for looting mobs that would normally bring you into aggro range of other hostile mobs. Moreover as it is based upon your pet moving to the corpse, the pathing is also that of pet AI so you loot virtually any death spot. Additionally, you only have to stop moving the moment the pet actually reaches the corpse and loots it, you can feel free to keep moving while it is traveling to the corpse. This is handy particularly with a pet spec of cunning due to the increased movement speed. Further, with a bit of micro management you can chain pull and kill mobs while your pet loots them using a mouseover macro for Fetch which is very convenient when grinding weak or low level mobs. However it will make you lose you current target when the pet loots despite using @mouseover targeting, but this is easy to work around. Fetch is a serious contender for a minor glyph slot for a hunter at any level. Try it out if you haven't taken the plunge.

Will this work if you are in a raid group and your group just killed a massive number of mobs and you want to loot the one that is your to loot? It may not have been the last target so it doesn't seem that helpful in that situation, which is the main one where I need to be able to hurry on with the group instead of running back to loot.

The only thing that bothers me about this is it feels clunky. Cant move while pet is trying to fetch or it will fail. I still loot everything myself for the most part. This does work out great for mobs that get stuck on cliffsides though.

I spent ages trying to find the spell for this glyph, thinking it'd be in my pet's abilities interface. It's not, it's in my own spellbook. Just in case anyone else got a bit stuck.

A really great help for this ability is -Quartz- and it's pet casting bar. Displayed, you see when the pet starts to fetch, a 0.7 sec window to halt your charackter to allow to loot "from your pet".

It is so useful, becaus with this, you can turn arround, fokus another target, whatever, without have to check or "guess" when the pet starts to loot.

i checked every single skill in my pet and my toon spellbook. couldnt find the skill. i had to make a macro.

also, you have to stand still while the pet is looting. the pet wont loot while you are moving or jump around. it just simply runs to the body then comes back to you.

The following macro will try to:
-1 Concussive shot your current alive enemy target (Replace with any offensive spell you want)
-2 Fetch from your mouseover corpse
-3 Fetch from your target corpse
-4 Fetch from your previous target

In normal use during combat it will Concus, after combat it will loot the corpse. If you want to direct your pet to specific corpses, it will check mouseover first and then target.

For Hunters so cool too have, especially with the patch 5.2 changes comming up:)
I find it most frustrating, how i always have to loot as last without this Glyph in a party.
Melee fight their mob at close range, so they dont need to run over too a dead body, so mostly these gamers get the quest items the first. Healers sneak in close range as the mob is almost dead. And other ranged damage dealers have to fight over, who gets there most quickly to regain the loot. From my frustration, i see how often gamers leave a grey bone on the body as you try to pick it up with nothing then grey loot in it.

The fetch ability granted by this glyph no longer requires a target. Your pet will now "automatically choose a nearby corpse to loot". No need for targeting macros anymore- just press your hotkey and your pet will pick one lootable target, and then aoe loot anything nearby it when it loots that target.

As of Patch 5.2

The Fetch ability from Glyph of Fetch no longer requires a target. When activated, the pet will automatically choose a nearby corpse to loot.

This glyph has achieved EPIC!

Unfortunately Spirit Walk affects the speed of fetching, making it much slower.

The biggest issue I had with this glyph is the ability never shows up in my spellbook. I also tried unlearning and relearning it to no avail. My frustration over this literally lasted weeks. I don't know if I'm the only one with this problem or not, but just in case others have this issue, this is what I did.

I made a new macro and I typed the following:

/cast Fetch

If you're experiencing the same issue, do this!

Found this MACRO on another SITE and so far seems to work great. I don't have autoloot on so, using this works. Article says if you use autoloot anyways, you can delete the first 2 lines I think.

Is it just me, or have Fetching pets just started pulling aggro from hostile NPCs in the past week or two?

I first noticed this doing the Battlefield Barrens weekly, due to the high concentration of hostile NPCs... I have automatic stealth disabled on my pet, and only activate it manually when the situation demands. I used to be able to send my pet out to fetch anything, and even if it brought him in very close proximity to hostile NPCs, he would never draw any aggro (just fetch and return, completely ignored by all hostiles in spite of not being stealthed).

Now it seems that within the past couple weeks, fetching pets can and will draw aggro... a dangerous situation, considering that they will kite the mob(s) right into your melee range if you aren't paying attention.

I don't think I am just imagining this... it seems to me like Blizz hotfixed it without any announcement.

A few tips from my experience learning to love this glyph:

When your pet reaches a corpse, there's a short (someone said .7 sec) cast time for Fetch. If you're moving when the pet tries to cast the ability, it will path back to you instead of looting. You can disengage or mount up while your pet is looting without any problems, even move a bit as long as when the cast bar is moving, you are not!

The choice of which enemy to loot seems pretty random. Be careful if there's a corpse near a patrol or group of mobs, as you can accidentally pull them. In some situations this is actually a good thing. The AoE loot radius is pretty big, but sometimes you may need to cast it a second time if your kills are spread out too far.

Don't forget that you can and should still loot bodies if they are nearby. In some cases it's just faster to do it the old way.

I feel that i spend more time on: Clicking the spell. Standing still, waiting for pet to loot. Double checking if it accturly looted, than if i just looted the "old fashion way" myself.
The spell comes in handy when the loot is in hard-to-reach places.

Just for the note, it has a 0.1 second cast time so you CAN cast it whilst moving. Following casting the spell your pet runs to the NEAREST corpse and loots it.
Unfortunately it seems like you have to stand still (?) or the looting window will instantly disappear.

I really wish you could be moving while your pet fetches. I dont know if it is just me, but if I am moving tge loot window doesnt even open.

This ability (Fetch) also works with some of the 'pet-like' mobs given as part of quests. I have been able to use "Fetch" with my Personal Arcane Assistant for Trouble Under Foot for instance.
