This apparatus most likely once belonged to Khaz'goroth—shaper of the mountains and canyons. Here is a short excerpt of information, as provided by wowpedia.org, that one might find useful if they enjoy reading about the lore behind the many items dropped in World of Warcraft, for there are many, many references:

Khaz'goroth, shaper of mountains and canyons, is a male Vanir Titan and the ultimate craftsman. He is a master of many arts and disciplines; with Eonar's help, he created Azeroth's dwarves, troggs, and perhaps, mountain giants. He crafted the mountains in which the Ironforge dwarves dwell — their kingdom's name, Khaz Modan, means "mountains of Khaz." A fiery, brooding entity, Khaz'goroth loves working at his forge and listening to tales of heroism and valor.

During the empowering of the Dragon Aspects, Khaz'goroth granted dominion over the earth and deep places of the world to the noble Neltharion, the Aspect of the Black Dragonflight, who later became known as Deathwing.

He is wise in building architecture and engineering. He created and shaped the mountains of Azeroth with help of his creations, the Earthen.

He was once in charge of a Titan facility under Bael Modan.

According to the buff (Titanic Power) This stacks 5 times, making it 1725 mastery/crit/haste on use (providing you crit at least 5 times in the 2 minutes it is on cooldown)

I want to see a trinket that when it procs it mounts you up onto a dragon or something and you go round breathing fire/ causing havoc for 10 secs or whatever.

For a Ret paladin this is quite a good trinket to have. For starters the raw Strength on this piece is great.
The proc however, only builds up from MELEE crits. So this counts auto-attack, Crusaderstrike and Templar's Verdict. With one interesting exception, Hammer of Wrath also procs this trinket.
Everything else doesnt seem to proc it. Fortunatly Templar's Verdict gets a 12% crit boost from the talent, Crusaderstrike a 15% crit boost and Hammer of Wrath a massive 60%.

So overall you should see enough procs to build this trinket up. The biggest bummer is if you want to use it early on in a fight with the rest of your cooldowns. Not getting those 5 crits you need early on can really set you back. Other then that there shouldnt be any problems, outside perhaps a boss mechanics, that should keep you from getting a stack of 5 before the trinket is ready again.

The proc lasts 30sec, so its unlikely to fall off soon.

The proc is also incorrectly numbered as mentioned before. It is much higher, it should come down to ~15 points of mastery. Or roughly 30% extra damage from TV/CS/DS as Hand of Light (+Inq. benefits, dont forget those)

So this trinket is a true beast if you can get a 5proc to line up with AW+Zealtry(+Guardian 20st). As this will push your Templar's Verdicts through the roof. And all of them have a lovely 2min cd.

From what I gather, this can stack with the pvp damage trinket.
In Swifty's video he used this and the pvp trinket alongside various buffs and potions in his one shot macro and got absolutely insane burst damage.
Probably going to get nerfed soon though, so enjoy it while you can.

Got this tonight, I believe this is BiS paired with Vessel of Acceleration for a retribution paladin. HOWEVER.
If you are going to use both the vessel and apparatus together, please do yourself a favor and check on something. Do this: (your mastery rating) - (your crit rating) = ?
If it is 415 or less, (460 if you have HEROIC vessel) then you need to either reforge a little bit of crit away, or go with something other than apparatus. Because if this is the case, with 5 stacks from the vessel, apparatus will proc crit instead of mastery. This is bad.

Few Facts!

You CAN Consume this at any Stack (1,2,3,4 or 5) But 5 is more effective.
You CANNOT have Heroic & Unheroic equip at the SAME time.
BoE Drop from Firelands Trash
This IS one of the best DPS trinkets in Cataclysm.

quite a kickass trinket even with the new 378 and higher ones coming into play in 4.3 this one is still a solid choice. the new 5m trinkets arent as good as it.. not sure bout the raid finder gear though.

im glad some derps decided to downrate this useful information. might i suggest u stick ur head in the microwave and hit on.
