Wrath's first epic necklace for Plate DPS as there were none in the T7 content. Not as well itemized as a lot of the Agility/AP-based ones (a common theme in DPS plate and badge loot in general) but at least there's finally a neck with the right stats. Here's hoping it's not the last. :P

This will, as the original PTR name states, be one of the new Ulduar neck pieces. It is available through purchase at a PTR price of 16 .

Man, enough with the hit rating already, not to mention the fact that the new badge system totally blows. No one will ever run naxx anymore as wotlk approaches the 1 year anniversary mark, considering they drop badges of heroism. Maybe some didnt like the old system with one badge, but imo you should not fix what isnt broken

And again plate classes get bootet by absolut suboptimal itemization.

Although 65 str is a nice amount I still dont see any reason why this thing needs to waste itempoints on 93 stamina (notice how the tank version has 94 while all others have about 65).
Furthermore, the hit rating might be ok but what were they thinking when giving this thing the laughable amount of 36 crit rating ?

I guess 10% physical dmg nerf for fury warrios via titansgrip isnt enough, they also need to favor all mail/leather and cloth dds by optimizing their equip.

Btw the new top end 2h sword from ulduar council (Rune Edge as it is called right now) will have 121 Agi, not a single point of strength and awful 160 attackpower... as if hunters would not have enough stat-sticks and if betrayer having "hunter stats" was not enough it seems that any new top end weapon is supposed to have crap stats for 99% of the classes in fact wearing them (Warrios/DKs/Rets)

Maybe the numbers are out of place or something? I don't see this being an upgrade at all over Fool's Trial or Favor of the Dragon Queen. The gain of ~20 AP does not make up for the huge loss of crit on both of these.

It would make more sense if this were to flip the numbers on each end, so you'd wind up with something like this

most of the badge-gear got a lot of stamina on them. maybe, because those items shouldn't be best in slot and just an option for unlucky people in raids or casuals. or unlucky casuals.. or what ever.

They're also great for pvp, as it offers hit rating which is rare in pvp gear, not to mention the high stamina.

If you don't need the hit rating, Broach of the Wailing Night is better itemized for warriors, even fury. But even if you do need the hit, you'd most likely be better off with the lower-ilvl Might of the Leviathan since it doesn't waste so many stat points on stamina.

A poor neck considering this comes from 25-man badges and thus should be 25-man quality. This list shows necks weighted by SEP for fury warriors* and this one comes very low down the chain. There are several better necks available in 25-man naxx, if you can get hold of one, stick with the malygos quest neck.

*Weight scale assumes you're looking for expertise gear, if you already have the expertise cap without this neck, just set expertise to 0 at the top and apply filter again.

Even though some sites rank the Battle choker a bit lower dps than this Broach or H ToC neck, the hit rating will be very important. Most of the new patch gear loses hit rating in favor of armor penetration. So as you begin to replace your T7 gear for the new pieces, you hit rating will suffer dramatically. If you don't want to spend you money on +hit gems and enchants, than I suggest the Battle Choker neck piece over the other two. They are so close dps wise and you are going to need that +hit. If you are wary about it, save this purchase until you have already purchased everything else. At that point you will see the dramatic decrease in the hit rating.
