All of the "Merciless Gladiator's" gear is part of the Season 2 Arena rewards that were added on June 19th, 2007, along with the "Veteran's" gear that was added to the BG honor rewards.

Stats on armor, stats on weapons, and damage on weapons were upgraded slightly across the board, and arena points cost for these new items was raised slightly as well.

If you're like me, you're an under geared rogue. With S4 coming out some time in the forseeable future, I'll be looking to use some spare honor points to upgrade my PvE DPS. Now, assuming NO heroic gear, the order you should be looking at to upgrade are:

Merciless Gladiator's Shiv

I use mutilate, so of course I'm gonna get the daggers. Just substitute whatever weapon spec you use instead :) Remember, weapon boosts are generally the largest DPS increase for physical DPS classes, so nabbing the S2 weapons should be priority number 1.

Next are the armor upgrades:

Merciless Gladiator's Leather Tunic

Merciless Gladiator's Leather Helm

Keep in mind that the real draw here is the shoulders. They provide a ~3 DPS increase over Expedition Scout's Epaulets with 2 +8 Hit gems. The helm and chest are more DPS sidegrades against the average rogue gear Helm of the Claw and Hauberk of Karabor, respectively. Both the HoC and HoK are relatively easy to get for beginning 70 rogues, but if you're having trouble finding groups for them, the gladiator gear will more than cover it.

Fel Leather Leggings or Leggings of the Betrayed are better than the S2 legs, as are Fel Leather Gloves better than the S2 hands. You're better off saving those honor points for the +20 AP gem.

Again, keep in mind that this is only for the starter rogue and only for PvP'ing for PvE upgrades. If you're looking to get a foothold when starting an arena team, by all means get all the gear and wreck some faces :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention the ranged weapon: Merciless Gladiator's War Edge. This is ~.2 DPS upgrade over Felsteel Whisper Knives. Keep in mind though that the War Edge is the lowest DPS upgrade out of all the viable PvP options, so you should leave that one for last.

As of Season 4, this now costs 18,000 Honor and 20 EotS Marks and is bought from Captain O'Neal in the Champion's Hall for Alliance and Sergeant Thunderhorn in the Hall of Legends for the Horde.

Would it take to get this item for the ave/casual player? Would it take weeks or months? I am not playing like I used to but will pick it back up when the next patch drops. but I would really like to get this and her friend now that I am pvp'ing more. Any help?

just wondering what kind of shadowstep + ambushes ppl have been seeing with this?

I am currently using Blinkstrike and Gladiator's Shiv (and sometimes respec with Whispering Blade of Slaying in MH for Ambush)

But the thing is mongoose procs all the time so u get the bonus agi mostly 24/7 :P

Yeah, Mongoose seems to proc a ton. It's like crusader pre tbc.

Once I get an OH that's worth the enchant, I'm slapping a second Mongoose on it as fast as I possibly can.

About 440g of mats (on my server atm) and I can't wait.

120 agility is about 8.6 dps (assuming that it's still 14 AP = 1 DPS, please correct me if I'm wrong.) On a weapon with speed 1.8, that equates to an additional 15.4 damage.

If you can get dual mongoose and keep it up about 50 - 70% of the time (I feel like that's doable) it's freaking amazing (because it adds more damage to your OH assuming your OH is faster than MH.)

Plus the crit, plus the dodge (meh for dodge).

Mongoose worth it.

What would i crit with both of these daggs if did backstab (combat dagg spec) with 1.2k ap?
Also, whats best dagg spec for arenas/pvp? shadowstep?

best dagger my rogue can get, better than all the kara daggers and won't be replaced until SSC mongoose is really worth it for that dagger.

Just got mine on Tuesday and put mongoose on it right away.

Definitely a step up in burst damage, and also very noticable increase in DPS over time. Was using Whispering Blade of Slaying in MH for quite some time.

hey, i was wondering, if you got for example 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 and they all have like, 1500 rating, do you get 300 ish points from each team (so around 900 points per week assuming you play a bunch of games in each team)?

about the talents you shall use for this dagger I recomend:

30/0/31

Which gives you Premedidation (add 2 combo points). Use Premedidation and Ambush a caster for lots of dmg. With this specc you will be gained 3 combos from Ambush and 2 from Premedidation which gives you a total of 5 combo points. Use Cold Blood and Eviscerate and your target is badly hurt. This will take like 1 sec for all that damage to hit.

Shadowstep also works good, but since you got all CDs ready for an Arena 30/0/31 would give more damage imo.

You can dw this with the ordinary shanker if your muti spec'd... I think mongoose procs on mutilate with your off hand as well. Gives a very good pre-raid dagger combination
