After I realized you can move pieces diagonally, it was easy. Before that it was not :)

The solution is to see the direction each golem faces, then move them until they all face inwards (not at the wall like i tried first time).

Whatever space is free, look for the one that when moved there will face inwards/towards the centre, then rinse and repeat.

When looking at it, this seemed like a sliding puzzle, but it's not. You can teleport any piece to any spot, not just "sliding" adjacent statues into the holes.

I don't think puzzles are fun. I want to play WoW. Not Puzzlemania. Or Turret Defense. Or Plants and frickin' Zombies. Or Simon Says. And there will be plenty of people who agree with me. So leave the people who want to get done with the quest alone and enjoy your $15 a month your way, while we do likewise.

I got the same thing with not being able to pick up the quest. However I tried logging out and re-logging but it didn't work. For some reason when I left the cave and re-entered it, I was able to pick up the quest again. I don't know if it was just coincidence but I didn't do anything else that would have fixed it :/

Pretty easy puzzle. Make all the little statues face inward towards the center square. they start facing outward. Not sure if its random, but mine was started with all pieces in the opposite positions with the central one empty. Thus, I simply clicked a piece, it goes to middle, then click the opposite piece and it goes to the now empty opposite side and is in the correct position.

Basically, start with a corner piece. Click and it goes to the middle. Now click the opposite corner (say top left facing the wall goes to mid, now click bottom right and it will go to top left and it was in th correct position for me). From there, I would click the middle piece and it woudl go to the now empty space that was opposite its original piece.

Visually:

1 - 2 - 3
4 - O - 6
7 - 8 - 9

Assuming the pieces are the same everytime and all pieces are facing outward and in the opposite location with O being a blank, you would start with 1 and get:

O - 2 - 3
4 - 1 - 6
7 - 8 - 9

Then you would hit 9 to move it to O and get:

9 - 2 - 3
4 - 1 - 6
7 - 8 - O

Now we want to move 1 to the bottom corner and would end up with:

9 - 2 - 3
4 - O - 6
7 - 8 - 1

Now, assuming it is still the same as my original pieces, all are in opposites, so the next sequence would move 2 to O, then hit 8 to move it to the top, then hit 2 to move it to the bottom and you'd get:

9 - 8 - 3
4 - O - 6
7 - 2 - 1

Continuing on, you'd swap 3 and 7 and then 4 adn 6 in the same manner to get a finished puzzle of:

9 - 8 - 7
6 - O - 4
3 - 2 - 1

Even if the pieces are not in the same starting positions as mine, just always follow the same pattern - move a piece to middle, find the piece that correpsonds to an inward facing direction to the empty space and click it. You could simplify it further depending on the piece starting positions and keep replacing the empty spots with the correct ones, but as mine worked out as opposites, I had to swap the middle to the empty space every second step for easiest solution.

Move any to the middle. Move the rest around the edge a total of 4 times (clockwise/counterclockwise doesn't matter). Move the middle one to the empty spot. FIN.

A, B, C and D stand for diagonal arrows pointing outward on the first schematic. I.e. you start with all "arrows" pointing outward. You must end up with all of them pointing inward into the blank center block.

What does this mean? It means the puzzle is quite simple, all the miniature wardens should be looking inward into the empty space in the center. When you click a warden it teleports to the empty block, so to begin you only need to temporarily port one of the corners in, then click the border and make it rotate until you have rotated it 4 times (you need to click 8 times per rotation, one per warden on the outside, so you will be clicking a lot...

The only thing that was giving me problems is the fact that the peices don't change the way they're facing and they all have to be facing EXACTLY into the center. If they're not, it won't complete. Very fun quest, same with the other puzzle one. More of these please!

For people with add-ons such as Carbonite, if you go into Carbonite's settings, the Quest tab, and check to press Alt-L for Carbonite's quest log (instead of replacing the default WoW quest log with "L"), you can then press "L" for the original quest log, where you can complete the quest. This quest isn't in Carbonite's database, so I hope this helps others who can't seem to complete this quest.

After reading some tips above that didn't really help me (sorry), I took a good look at the positions of the statues. Their basic positions looked to be either corner or straight. After moving them around the last time, bingo.

If they are corner, move them to the appropriate corners facing inwards. If they are straight, move them to the appropriate middle slots facing inwards.

My first mistake was trying to make them face the wall, heh.

So what do you do if you have messed with them and there all facing the wall and you cant get them to do anything else?
and almost 30 minuets later, it dawns on me. Delete the quest, get it again since its under your feet and just start again. The video was a big help. (serves me right to play wow on 4 hrs of sleep)

This seems to be bugged patch 4.1. Clicking a statue now moves it and turns it to face the wall, making it impossible to complete the quest.

edit: It actually is still possible to complete the quest, you just have to remember which statue originally faced in the appropriate direction, it no longer gives visual feedback.

As of today, with patch 4.1, I can confirm that this quest is _visually_ bugged.

(Yes, I have tried with disabling addons etc, no dice).

The issue, shortly put, is that once you move a piece, it will - regardless of its original facing - now _visually_ be facing the wall. The quest is still doable, assuming you do it in the simplest way.

All of these are facing outwards from the beginning, and with one free space to move, it's simply a case of getting the pairs sorted.

IE, activate piece number1, then 8, then 1. These two figures have now swapped sides, and are correctly faced.
Then piece 2, piece 7, piece 2. And so on.

This helped me do it without having the benefit of the visual heading of them.

as of this posting...the game is bugged. When you click on the pieces they all face toward the wall. this link h ttp://youtu.be/gzFM0SP8Jmg will show you how to do it really easy. if you do it the right way it does not matter how they look it still registers as being the correct way. I just did this. piece of cake!

Unfortunately, the bug with this quest introduced in 4.1 is not limited to a display problem. For some folks, myself included, the statues will not move at all, making the quest impossible to complete no matter what you do.

My level 47 character was able to continue in Badlands by riding over to New Kargath and picking up the quests there.

If you have a situation like I did, where only 5 of the 8 statues show, just abandon the quest and accept it again.

I was stressed out the whole time but I was determined to figure it out. I looked the quest up on WoWhead, when I read the first post saying you could move the pieces diagonally... Good Fight Blizzard!

just try to figure it out for yourself. it is really not that difficult. just take a high position so you can see the whole board. then do some random moves and discover the rules. a nice diversion from blindly killing monsters and looting them.

This is as easy as taking one of the cornor pieces, take it to the middle, and then move all the other ones around in a circle until they all face the middle and then move the one you moved into the middle into the corner that will make it face the middle. Pretty simple.

Something important to note:
Unlike traditional slider games, you CAN move a corner piece to the middle by clicking on it. Thus, the solution becomes very simple:
-Begin by clicking a corner piece, moving it into the center
-Click each piece on the outside in turn, moving the outer ring either clockwise or counter-clockwise, until they all face inwards as required (there should be a corner empty, and it's piece should be in the center..
-Click the piece you put into the center (a corner), and it will jump to the empty space.
