It's not that it lasts two rounds. It's that it doesn't count the round in which it was cast. So you cast it during one round, then it lasts one FULL round there after. It seems like two but it's not. Many pet abilities work that way.

It'd be fairly worthless otherwise, particularly if your speed was slower than your opponents. It'd be "I cast this ability, but wait my pet attacks second, so the moment this turn ENDS, my ability ends, never having the chance for it to dodge an attack."

It only dodges two abilities if you're faster than your opponent. If you're slower it dodges only one.

When your pet is faster, this is equivalent in effectiveness to a stun.
