Seems to be most commonly found as a secondary pet, mostly varios shale hatchlings from what i've found, but you can find them on their own too. I was farming for a rare Emerald Shale Hatchling around Master's Gate / Quaking Fields area in southwest Deepholm, and came across a number of uncommon and a few rare ones as secondaries, as well as number of Deepholm Cockroach, Crimson Shale Hatchling and Fungal Moth of various qualities. Because of the sheer quantity and concentration in that area, it is easy to level pets, of even to jump from pet to pet until you find what you are looking for. The only rare I didn't find there was a Crimson Geode, but I didn't expect to find them anywhere near there.
