I scoured most of Tanaris to find this but was only able to find one as a secondary pet. Even then it was common.

This pet changes his color scheme every time you summon it for battle or as a companion. Not sure are there other pets than do that.

I found them mainly as secondary pets, but a few were primary in Tanaris. I found 4 different color-schemes and the lava-accented one seems to be unique to this specific type of scorpid battle pet. That is, I have yet to encounter it as an option for the other scorpids.

The color-changing bug is listed as fixed for 5.1 and I can confirm that all the stripe-tailed scorpids I've tamed remain the same color every time I summon them, whether they were tamed primary or secondary.

I tamed a rare one recently, and it has a red-and-black color scheme.
Strangely, my uncommon quality Stripe-Tailed Scorpid has a turquoise-while color scheme.

I found one as a secondary to the Flayer Youngling... right on the border of Terokkar Forrest and Hellfire Peninsula.

The Stripe-Tailed Scorpid has the same looks as the higher level Crunchy Scorpion. What sets it apart, is their more offensive breed choices - so its unique trait is that its the only "offensive" scorpid with access to the amazing Grey/Orange skin.
