These creatures are always found in lava pools, generally the shallow dents in the ground. There is almost always only one to a pool.

When clicked, they make a soft crab rattling/clicking sound.

Caught as "back row" in the Badlands, on the plateau along the north-west corner (@ 9.6, 24.6) separating it Loc Modan / Searing Gorge.

I found many more lava crabs in Searing Gorge as compared to Burning Steppes. Additionally, I found several times that a lava crab would be the secondary battle pet with the ash spiderlings.

There is a special possibility with this pet. Although extremely highly unlikely, if you are using this pet with Cauterize and Survival, you are below 25% health, use Survival, then the enemy uses Impale, or Predatory Strike, you'll live through it, and if you use Cauterize next turn, you'll heal half of the 'execute' damage which is usually between 5000-10,000. Basically, to full health.

Just a neat occurance I wanted to confirm to see if it was true, but I doubt this would ever happen besides on purpose.

I tried to cage several battle pets including this one but can't. Is there a certain kind we can or cannot cage? I have been able to cage them... I wanted to give some as gifts to ppl who don't have.

I captured about ten of these in a row in Burning Steppe and every single one was B/B. Seemed statistically unlikely.

First pet what I have seen those abilities' cooldowns (in wild) made them inactive through at least one round.
