You'll find Orphan Matron Mercy, the quest giver for Orphan Week 2007 (May 22 - 29) at the coordinates 75, 48 in the lower city area of Shattrath. She is a troll.

What sort of creature is this? It is unlike any Elekk I've seen in-game, as Elekks do not have ears like that (or any visible ears, for that matter). Does the quest offer any insight?

Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm and Peanut are the only two Elekk pets in the game, and are essentially the same aside from color and breed. The Pint-Sized Pink Pachyderm is a male breed 7 (+0.9 Health / +0.9 Power), while Peanut is a female breed 16 (+2 Health). It's personal preference as to which one is better for your team. The final stats look like this:

Unlike adult elekks this one has large ears. Just realized when I summoned this alongside whit elekk mount.

This pet is added to your collection in green (uncommon) quality - meaning this is also a good pet to use a Flawless Critter Battle-Stone on as you can't get a rare quality version without a battle stone.

where does the quest start? I've been looking, the only quest rewards are the turtle, a rat, a piglet, or 5g, no elephant.

not a bad quest for childrens week. it took me about 1/2 hour to complete this quest. i got peanut. It would be nice if they were more like a hunters pet where they helped do damage. but im just dreaming lol.
