This item is the same staff the rare mob Chief Engineer Lorthander in Netherstorm wields.

So far it is held at the mid section instead of base, so it cannot be wielded like a Keyblade =/

Interesting that this cataclysm staff doesn't require a Plain Wooden Staff whereas the other cataclysm staves (e.g. Runed Staff, Rosethorn Staff, and Silver Inlaid Staff) do. Instead this staff uses Light Parchmentx10.

Its probably an oversight or some-such and will be fixed by launch. Especially considering how cheap the mats are when compared to the same ilvl agility staff, Runed Staff. Or maybe the Runed Staff needs the adjustment.

yup, first thing i thought of was kingdom hearts when i saw this lol, pretty awesome staff if you ask me. Sad that casters cant swing around some of these things, like those scythes (honestly they need to make a scythe for my DK)

All they would have to do is change the item type to a sword. The game's mechanics automatically changes the hand positions.

I'm glad they finally added this in. I was looking for a Keyblade to post this tidbit in I made awhile back... with a few changes.

With the Key to the Planes, now YOU can star as the spiky-haired protagonist to "unlock" the secrets of Pandaria! Featuring King Wrynn as the brooding deuteragonist, Jaina as the shattered, vapid female lead, Lor'themar and the entire population of Blood Elves as the awkwardly androgynous side characters, and Vol'jin and Mekkatorque as the freakishly-tall and freakishly-short mascots.

Starring Thrall as King Mickey and featuring Garrosh as Big Bad Pete.
Featuring Illidan, Kael'thas, Arthas, and Ragnaros as the colorful cast of "merely a setback" Disney Villains, led by Onyxia as Maleficent.
Guest starring Prince Anduin Wrynn as Ventus, because honestly, you know the poor kid's just a hair's breadth away from tragedy. (EDIT: Late, but, ahem: Called it!)

And introducing the Sha as the shapeless, ugly "Oh my God what the hell am I killing?" puddles of muck you have to grind through to level.
