Additionally, this ring has 10 more intellect, as well as a blue socket bonus of another +10 intellect.
Blue sockets like this make activating the DPS Meta much less painful.

I did some math based on my servers (dunemaul) prices for the current materials.
if the price is marked as zero then that is something I thought I could have farmed that with little to no effort on my part Also as I am still trying to get the tokens to buy the other jewel crafting recipes so i marked the Chimera's eyes as what they are selling on my server.

If you are paying more then the max then on my server at you are being gouged, go buy the mats yourself and get another jeweler to make it for you assuming you can find one that has this pattern.

as a further note to fellow jewelers this will probably sell on the AH for twice or even triple what my final price was. Expect it to sell for closer and closer to that price as the next content patch gets closer.

EDIT: Well that was fast these rings have depreciated in value so much they and all jewel crafting gear are now only work 3500 on my server do not under any circumstances expect to turn a profit on these unless you grind out all the item to make it.

As I did with the tanking JC patterns, let's look at how this ring stacks up to other available 346 rings (without hit rating).

It may seem arbitrary to exclude rings with Hit rating but include rings with Spirit... and you'd be right. It's arbitrary.

Non-Hit Intellect Ring Showdown

The most direct comparison is between Ring of Warring Elements and the Spirit Creeper Ring given they have the same main stat types: the Creeper has +25 Int, +8 Mastery, and +11 Crit on the crafted ring's blue socket and +10 Intellect socket bonus. What gem gets slapped in there really depends whether the ring is for a DPS caster or a healing toon, but whether it is a straight-up Brilliant Inferno Ruby (+15 Int vs +8 Mastery and +11 Crit) or Purified Demonseye (+5 Int and +20 Spirit vs +8 Mastery and +11 Crit), generally speaking the Warring Elements comes out slightly ahead.

In terms of ease of acquisition, a better comparison would be between the crafted ring and the Therazane option. At that point it comes down to whether your class/spec values Mastery vs Haste, specifically +104 Mastery vs +112 Haste. Since the socket is blue, gemming options are pretty constricted unless you are willing to lose Intellect, so a Purified or straight Brilliant are again your choices.

All of that said... my verdict is to give the ring a pass. Haste vs Mastery is not much of a choice for many casters right now, especially Elemental and Resto shaman, and most everyone will want to be Revered/Exalted with Therazane sooner rather than later anyway. The biggest dealbreaker is how you can get two acceptable sidegrades from a single heroic Lost City run. If you want to twink your new level 85 alt at considerable expense without bothering with dungeon runs though, keep in mind this ring is not Unique-Equipped, so you can wear two.

But as a maxed out JC, I already had 23 Amber topaz in my inventory & no use for them. Lots of volatile fire. It took about a week - maybe 90 minutes to make 2 of these. Figure about the same as a single heroic.

As of Patch 4.33, is this ring still worth creating? Is it worth buying the pattern (Design: Ring of Warring Elements)for?

As someone with many alts, I am painfully aware of the gear gap when you first hit level 85. It is extremely hard to find caster rings before one is capable of chain-running randoms and/or heroics, or has a lot of time to dedicate to reputation grinding. It is my opinion that this ring is still a good choice for those who are attempting to gear up alts in order to enter random heroics and random HoTs, especially since not too many people run ordinary heroics anymore and even when doing so there is no guarantee of a caster ring dropping. Am I correct in thinking this?

The only readily available alternative I can find is Vicious Amberjewel Band which has spirit and resilience, two useless stats for PvE mages and warlocks. The spirit can be reforged but the resilience can not. This ring does have quite a bit more intellect, but it does not have a gem socket.

I do not have an excess of Jewelcrafting tokens and so am not sure if I should save them to buy epic gem cuts, of which I currently have none, or purchase the pattern Design: Ring of Warring Elements in order to craft myself two upgrades. The rings I currently have equipped on this character, a mage, both have spirit on them and were easy to obtain (a 333 from honored rep with Ramkahen and a 325 from the Harrison Jones quest line in Uldum.)

yep, definitely still worth learning, as it is the best readily available PvE, BoE ring for brand new 85s.
