Hurray for suicide ^^

I'm gonna love the extra dmg i can do with the mind sear with this but since no tank can hold agro on all targets in a 30 yard circle this will have to be combined with fade or a friendly rezzer ;)

This glyph is inferior to the other cookie-cutter glyphs that every shadow priest should have. If you're capable of making use of +5 yards on mind sear, your tanks are doing poorly or you're not centering your mind sear for the best efficiency.

The top 3 glyphs that any serious raiding shadow priest should be focused on using are still:

As a fellow rogue said about the ambush glyph "If you need 5 more range to ambush you're doing it wrong" and i think its well said for this glyph as well since most of the trash will be situated in groups around the tanks or the tank and you wont need the 5 more range to effectively sear.

Turning into Glyph of Spirit Tap in Cata.

As it currently reads...

"When you kill a target with your Shadow Word: Death and yield experience or honor, you instantly receive 12% of your total mana over 12 sec."

You instantly receive the mana over 12 seconds. How can you instantly get something over 12 seconds? I'm sure it means you instantly receive the buff and gain the mana over 12 sec, but I hope they reword that, or something.

Talking from the perspective of a 65 s.priest here. This glymph is an absolute gem for leveling. Dispersion is now 30 point talent and earliest I seem to be able to get it is 69, so until that this glymph is great.

Pretty lousy that shadow priests now have to glyph for this rather than being able to talent it while leveling. RIP amazing T1 grinding talent.

...And yet, assassination rogues and marksmen hunters both kept theirs. Interesting to note.

I don't comment on things other than paladin stuff, but I'm leveling a priest and feel that this glyph is looked over by a lot of healers.

Shadow Word: Death by its nature deals 3 times more damage to things under 25% health. When leveling in 5 man dungeons test your SWD on mobs as they are dieing, figure out what your spell will hit for. Then when you are clearing 5 mans target mobs while they die, and get the killing blow.

You will never need to drink or use mana potions in a 5 man ever again.

Seeing as Shadow Priests burn through mana incredibly fast level 81 and beyond, this glyph is just about mandatory, unless you want to be drinking every 5 mobs :)

You need the killing blow. Welcome to the world of an spriest - drinking every few mobs isn't so bad, in 3.0 I was practically drinking after every mob during the early levels (<20). For a while we had it good (ie 3.2 to 3.3) but it seems that cata has seriously nerfed us again.

Once you can get masochism it gets better again, but I'm still battling mana issues in every long fight.

I multibox 5 shadowpriests and i can confirm as long as you cast shadow word: death when the mob dies even if you don't get the killing blow, you'll activate spirit tap. Although i cast sw death simultaneously, 4 of 5 toons get full damage from it(ouch) from killing the target.

I did some more experiments, as long as your sw death would've killed the target you'll activate spirit tap, even if you didn't get the killing blow.

Edit: Now allows shadow priests to pseudo heal without dropping shadowform.

LORE: Why this is called Spirit Tap, in case anyone was wondering:

Way back in the day, Shadow Priests had a talent called Spirit Tap, which did exactly that: After killing something which would give you XP or Honor, you gained a Mana healing buff, which in the very beginning boosted your Spirit, thus Spirit Tap.

It was, and still is, awesome for leveling. Later in endgame content I doubt that it will be of any use, as you will have more mana than you need and in Raids breaks are more or less built in while people plan anyways.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed again.

WotLK: Glyph of Mind Sear - Increases the radius of effect on Mind Sear by 5 yards.

Cata: Glyph of Spirit Tap - When you kill a target with your Shadow Word: Death that yields experience or honor, you receive 12% of your total mana over 12 sec.

MoP: Glyph of Dark Binding - You can now cast Prayer of Mending, Renew, and Leap of Faith without cancelling Shadowform.

This new glyph is VERY strong glyph for spriests. It will likely become mandatory for PvP and highly recommended for leveling.

If this glyph is bugged, as in you have it but renew/mending/leap of faith still cancels Shadowform, simply apply another glyph and re-apply Glyph of Dark Binding.

I'd wish they would just make this passive, considering we burn through mana like its nothing, every shadow priest that PvP's has to take this glyph for our survivability and or helping our team mates, don't understand why the big fuss that we need a glyph for these abilities, fair enough with Flash Heal, but these 3, not so much, and there not exactly OP either considering the self healing that other classes have, i.e Warlocks...

This glyph seems to be no stranger to changes. As of patch 5.4, it has been changed and renamed to Glyph of focused mending. with the previous glyph (of dark bindings) now becoming baseline for shadow priest.

The new glyph allows the casting priest to focus heals between a specific target and themselves. I've had periods in PVP when I was healing and I wanted the spell to bounce off me and another person taking damage most the time. In the middle of it's hopping sometimes Prayer of Mending, jumps on someone who has lost health, but isn't taking damage at all. With this I have a little more control over where it goes, and considering I'm a target half the time because I'm heals, I'm sure it will be pretty helpful.

My first thought when reading the wording on this new glyph was "What happens if you are the target?" So, to answer that question; No, this glyph will not allow the prayer of mending to bounce to yourself if you are the first target. The prayer will still disappear when it "bounces" while solo. I figured it was too good to be true, but had to check it out, anyway.
