Move to avoid dealing damage straight into a Dead Zone.

In the last phase, stack up and outheal the damage from Fist Smash.

(Heroic Only) Focus down either Ro'shak or Dam'ren with Bloodlust when the last phase begins.

Iron Qon

Throw Spear - Iron Qon hurls his mighty spear over a random player, inflicting 48750 to 51250 Physical damage on impact.

This ability changes depending on which mount he is on, but in his natural form, it simply does damage to a random target. You should pay attention to the spear, but only when he's mounted; otherwise, it can be ignored.

Impale - Iron Qon impales his target with his spear, inflicting normal melee damage and causing bleeding, which inflicts an additional 63375 to 66625 Physical damage every 2 sec. This effect stacks.

This is the tank-swap mechanic of the fight. The damage from the bleed effect is quite minor, but if you get enough stacks, it will hurt a lot. Have it as a general rule of thumb to swap every 2 stacks, but this is a boss that can quite easily be solo tanked with the help of a Paladin, as the bleed can be cleared with Divine Shield or Blessing of Protection. If you do solo tank this fight, you should aim to clear the bleeds at around 4-5 stacks.

Iron Qon will continue to cast Impale both when mounted and when grounded. This ability is on a 20-second cooldown.

Fist Smash (Last Phase Only) - Having no spear in hand, Iron Qon smashes the ground violently, inflicting 34125 to 35875 Physical damage to all players every 0.8 second for 7.50 seconds.

This ability deals massive raid-wide damage. This ability has a 30-second cooldown, and the raid should stack to the best of their ability to allow for increased healing. Raid-wide defensive cooldowns should be used for every Fist Smash. Keep in mind that each subsequent Fist Smash will hit harder and harder, and it's physical damage, making abilities like Anti-Magic Zone and Aura Mastery have limited utility in the last phase.

Rising Anger (Last Phase Only) - Physical damage and attack speed increased by 10%. This effect stacks.

Every 15 seconds in the last phase, Iron Qon will get a stacking buff increasing his damage and attack speed. This means that both the boss will deal increased damage to the tank, and that Fist Smash will hit harder and harder the longer the last phase is, acting as a soft enrage.

Ignite Cyclone (Last Phase Only) - Iron Qon ignites a random cyclone, causing it to burn all players for 30525 to 35475 Fire damage every 2 seconds.

During the second phase, Rushing Winds will spawn, which will last for the remainder of the encounter. Iron Qon will ignite these in the last phase, dealing small ticking raidwide damage in the last phase. This damage is unavoidable, but also inconsequential. That being said, because it will be present during Fist Smash, it can still be a good idea to use magic-only defensive cooldowns like Anti-Magic Zone and Aura Mastery, despite it not working for the Fist Smash.

Freeze Cyclone (Last Phase Only) - Iron Qon freezes a random cyclone, causing it to entomb players in ice on contact. The player will take damage equal to 5% of their maximum health every 2 seconds.

If a player gets struck by a Freeze Cyclone, they will need to be freed by someone else who needs to right-click on the tomb, similar to Amber Prison on Wind Lord Mel'jarak.

Most raids will never see this mechanic, as you're very unlikely to be struck by a tornado of any kind in the last phase.

Iron Qon's MountsRo'shakRo'shakPhase 1

Ignite Spear: Burning Cinders - Ro'shak spits molten lava at Iron Qon's spear, causing magma to burst forth from the ground, inflicting 53625 to 56375 Fire damage initially and then stacking 14625 to 15375 Fire damage every 1 sec to players who remain within the effect.

Simply side-step the lines on the ground. The boss may need to be repositioned to accommodate the melee group.

Molten Inferno - Ro'shak emits molten flame, inflicting 92500 to 107500 Fire damage to all players. This will relieve Ro'shak of 10 Molten Energy. This ability hits the entire raid and has a 3-second cooldown, but is cast around every 5-6 seconds.

Unleashed Flame - Ro'shak incinerates the largest cluster of enemies he can find, inflicting 1400000 Fire damage split evenly among targets within 10 yards. Discharging this flame relieves Ro'shak of 30 Molten Energy. There must be at least 5 targets on 25-man (3 on 10-man) clustered in order to get Ro'shak's attention.
Scorched - Ro'shak's burning talons leave players Scorched, increasing Fire damage taken by 25% for 15 seconds.

Unleashed FlameScorchedFeintCloak of Shadows

Molten Overload - When he reaches maximum Molten Energy, Ro'shak overloads and combusts, casting Molten Inferno every 1 sec until he is degraded of molten energy. This effect temporarily increases his damage dealt by 50%.

This mechanic is only there to make sure the raid is dealing with Unleashed Flame. Your raid should never see this mechanic, and if it does, then it needs to make sure they have enough melees stacking for future pulls.

Calling the Stormcaller: Quet'zal (Heroic Only) - Quet'zal summons a massive swirl of wind and launches it ahead of him, inflicting 195000 to 205000 Nature damage to all players with which it comes into contact.

Move out of the tornado hurling towards you.

Strike Spear: Storm Cloud - Quet'zal calls lightning down on Iron Qon's spear, causing a rolling storm cloud that electrifies players for 214500 to 225500 Nature damage.

This effect stacks, and players who receive 3 stacks become fully electrified and are stunned for 20 seconds.

Simply side-step the lines on the ground. The boss may need to be repositioned to accommodate the melee group. If you get 3 stacks, you will need to be dispelled by a healer to remove the stun effect.

Arcing Lightning - Quet'zal zaps a random player with Lightning, stunning, absorbing healing effects, and causing them to shock nearby allies for 41925 to 44075 Nature damage. This shock damage effect jumps to nearby allies, causing them to also pulse with electricity.

They are stunned until another player pulls them out of the storm. If they die while under the effect of Lightning Storm, then Arcing Lightning will zap a random player.

This ability requires the raid to be loosely spread, but once a player receives the Arcing Lightning debuff, they will need to be freed by a nearby player. The debuffed player will have a cloud over their head, and this cloud needs to be clicked. The player who frees the debuffed player will receive a ticking damage buff, and if they move near other players, it will jump to those players as well.

Unnecessary spreading of this debuff can be fatal, and is the most usual reason people wipe in Phase 2.

Windstorm - Quet'zal pulls all players into the eye of a rushing windstorm. Players suffer 68250 to 71750 Nature damage every 2 sec until they are able to exit the storm. Damage, healing, and absorption effects cast while inside the windstorm are decreased by 80%.
Once the storm is over, some rushing winds will linger.
Rushing Winds - Rushing winds attract players into the storm, inflicting 137654 Nature damage every 5 sec to those who stand within.

Breaking the Ice: Dam'ren (Heroic Only) - Dam'ren commands frost spikes from the ground beneath random players, inflicting 146250 to 153750 Frost damage and knocking enemy targets within 4 yards into the air.

Since you should stay spread out during this phase anyway, this mechanic does not pose too much of a problem. Move away from your original location if you're targeted. If you get hit, it doesn't deal that much damage, but taking damage and a knock-up when it can be avoided is unnecessary.

Dam'renDam'renPhase 3

Freeze Spear: Frozen Blood - Dam'ren strikes Iron Qon's spear with ice, freezing the ground around it. Coming into contact with the frozen ground inflicts 214500 to 225500 Frost damage instantly and slows the player's movement, melee, ranged, and casting speeds by 25%. This effect stacks while standing within the area of frozen blood.

Simply side-step the lines on the ground. The boss may need to be repositioned to accommodate the melee group. If you get hit, a Blessing of Freedom or Windwalk Totem will clear the effect.

Dead Zone - Dam'ren directionally shields himself. Players standing within the Dead Zone created by this shield cause all incoming and outgoing attacks to miss.

The deadzone will be covering 50% of Dam'ren, and can cover any direction. If you attack from a side not covered by Dead Zone, your attacks will hit like normal.

The boss will not attack or use any abilities during the Dead Zone channel.

Frozen Resilience - Dam'ren is protected with a sheen of ice which reflects 10% of damage taken back at the attacker.

The reflected damage is very inconsequential and is not worth paying attention to. This will be active for as long as Dam'ren is alive.

Freeze - Dam'ren freezes a random player. After 1-5 secponds, Dam'ren will then Shatter them, inflicting 141375 to 148625 Frost damage to all enemies.

Since you should stay spread out during this phase anyway, this mechanic does not pose too much of a problem. Move away from your original location if you're targeted. If you get hit, it doesn't deal that much damage, but taking damage and a knock-up when it can be avoided is unnecessary.

Spark of the Molten Flare: Ro'shak (Heroic Only) - Ro'shak attacks players alongside Dam'ren. He casts Unleashed Flame on the largest clump of enemies he can find. If he cannot find a clump of enemies, he instead casts it on a random target.

This is the same ability that Ro'shak does in Phase 1. Stay stacked in melee to split the damage.

The damage from Impale is more manageable than you may think. You can opt to take more than 2 stacks for higher Vengeance levels, or tank swap at 2 for more safety.

This fight can very easily be solo tanked, but you will need a Paladin in your raid with (or Unbreakable Spirit as a Paladin tank).

You can split the damage from Unleashed Flame if you stand inside the boss.

Be mindful of the lines from Iron Qon's spear and reposition the boss if they are in an awkward position for the melees.

(Heroic Only) Use strong defensive cooldowns once you're tanking the boss and his 3 mounts.

Healers

As Shamans and Paladins, be ready to use Blessing of Freedom and Windwalk Totem to clear attack speed and casting slows from Freeze Spear.

Melee healers are immune to all the ranged-only mechanics, as long as they are keeping up their melee buffs.

Healing in the last phase becomes very intense during Fist Smash. Since the raid is stacked, healers with ground effects perform very well here, while healers like Holy Paladins perform very well for the rest of the encounter.

Damage Dealers

As Shamans and Paladins, be ready to use Blessing of Freedom and Windwalk Totem to clear attack speed and casting slows from Freeze Spear.

As ranged DPS, do your best not to spread Arcing Lightning as it's one of the main reasons groups will wipe.

(Heroic Only) Apply new dots as the mount is about to reach 25% health. They will keep ticking as it flies away.

Fun Fact if you get Frozen Blood it is permanent for the rest of the fight as the debuff keeps refreshing. you can move to the other side of the arena and the debuff will keep refreshing.
