Instead of this drop (Tiny Crimson Whelping) being just a non-common white item; it should be at least a Rare blue or an Epic pet drop since the drop rate is so low, but that's just my opinion. :P

As you kill these while farming a ridicilous amount of Small Flame Sac's will drop, these can be used to make Dragonbreath Chili, the mystery meat needed can simply be bought off Anton in howling fjord for 3,5 silver.

So I've been trying to farm Sharp Claws since i re-rolled Warrior for their use in making Rage Potion.

Now I know Flamesnorting Whelp & Crimson Whelp from the Wetlands have a higher drop % as does the Highland Razormaw and I tried these but only a few dropped and the Whelps are so few and far apart, spread all over the place that you do a lot more moving around, mounting and unmounting, then you do farming.

The place that I highly recommend for both sides and anyone with a lvl 40 or higher character would be Duskwood @ 62.1, 81.4 The Nightbane Tainted One lvl 29-30 are a great spot to farm these.

They have a reasonable drop rate of 8%, however if you look at their page that's the highest drop rate they have for any loot. They still take awhile to farm BUT if you kill them in groups, and kill "every" single one they will instantly spawn. I was a lvl48 hunter just point, click, shooting everyone around me then killing them all with Volley and Explosive Trap in one big circle. Non stop killing only taking breaks to loot.

HERE'S A MAP The point on the left is the instant spawn spot from above. The point on the right and inbetween the two points are more spots where packs of them hang out as well... Happy Farming!

Just looted a Shadowgem from it. So that could well mean that i'm one step closer to getting my Tiny Crimson Whelpling. Seeing as they both have the same drop chance ;)

The information about the Tiny Crimson whelpling dropping of Crimson whelps is not valid, i have been looking around in Wetlands for Crimson Whelps, the ones that are supposed to drop the Whelpling pet, there isnt a single Grimson Whelp around here, only the new added Ebon Whelps, which have a chance on dropping the Dark Whelpling afaik.

Well they have a drop chance of .1%, therefore 1 in a thousand, you may however get lucky and get one sooner, it's all patience. it's worth it, good value

I found a Crimson Whelp after killing about 8 of them. Got very lucky in my case. My boyfriend couldn't believe it with the chances. I could've easily auctioned it off for 300 gold.

After killing around 700 on my other char, after around 5-10 kills on my other char around lvl 28 at the time and there it dropped, crimson whelp pet!

Now all i needed to do was make some decent cash out of it ^^

Been at it for hours, and have killed around 2000 So far, haven't gotten ONE...

i guess i am lucky enough to have a pair of these gloves, i wish i had sold the thing if they do sell for 500g lol they definately are twink and i went back today to get some more of them and i so far have 1 that dropped off a red whelp, 1 in 1000 is too much for a level 19 item its retarded

Are any of these dragonkin creatures tamable? I really want one, but I can't find anywhere saying if they are or not.

25-30g is nowhere near a fair price for the simple fact of the rarity of these pets. Think about how long it takes to get one on average, then compare that time to a piece of gear you want, something that rare would probably be epic, and therefore sell for a lot of money.

if he dropped one of those i would be rich.. those cost 1 g each and i would be farming him everytime i play if he did... those are dropped by a level 40 - 47 elites

Wow, the odds of looting a rare item are ONE IN TWO THOUSAND. The odds of dropping a skeletal club are one in 190000, my friend looted one some how, must of been a miracle.

I was thinking of going here and trying to get one of theese pets. just one stupid question on pets since iv never had one before, can pets die? i dont wanna spend a couple of days slaughtering whelps, getting one and then having to watch it get killed in my next combat...

u no how many of these ive killed? 2 many!
i had no clue the dragon sold for that much, but i got it on my first kill on a Red Whelp, i sold it and then came back and al day i was killin them, i have like 15 moss agate now but no pets execpt for the first 1, and that was luck....

26 Horde warlock here, when i encountered these whelplings i noticed that they were immune to all of my shadow spells, anyone know if this was just a bug or/they are in-fact immune to shadow damage any reply on this would be helpful thx

Ive been grinding them for about 4 hours all together. Killed at least 75 of the *^$%%^s and no drop. Its just not worth it.

uber rare drop, but these drop a baby whelpling pet that you can have follow you around - cute as hell.

But if you decide to farm yerself one, expect to invest days here.

For some it is worth it. I've only ever seen one, and it's a wicked cool pet, indeed.

nope, petz do not die, only warlock's imp,void,scub,and fel and hunters pets die, try it on some random pets u get from random, i used my parrot (i got from bootybay) and it died several times by making it go on fire, i keep summoning it so it does die (with the corpse) but u can get it back by resummoning it (click the pet thing again), oh and it does show as ur pet but its like cannot be attacked, altho my allie friend told me that it was pvp, can someone cheak? i mean pvp by PvP by its name, u know

I found one on my 2nd 'hunt' for it. Took about 3-4 laps around their area before it dropped. Got a ton of leather n scales while there though (skinning in this world is like picking berries sometimes lol). A friend got one last week but his came from a 'Lost Whelp'. He sold his, I kept mine. It's a nice Rogue marker for mob fighting in a party while you're stealthed, and he does look pretty cool. Oh, and about the shadow damage resistance... Same friend (also a warlock) was having a heckuva time with the critters hunting solo, he too said they seemed immune to his shadow spells (but he was <30 at that time). Don't know it that's any help, just more info.

I'm almost certain the drop rate on these are much lower than they say. These pets do not die btw, they just follow u around and are only for show.

Ohh and are you absolutely 100% SURE that it is this version of the dragons that drop them? cause id hate to spend a couple of days there and then finding out id been killing the wrong kind!

Ok i made it here finally. now their a little togue for a 22nd lev rogue but i've taken a few down my next problem is i died to many times getting here i need to repair my equipment. where is the nearest horde town i noticed it's all around ally's.

Hi Elephanty here lvl 27 rogue, i was just wondering if the Lost whelps drop the Tiny Crimsone Whelplings as well. Cause its getting pretty annoying how i keep running around , dodging the Lost Whelps and only fighting the Flamesnorting,Crimson, and Red Whelps. Pls help me on this one i really need the dragon for money i only have 26s :( lol.

im 39 roming around waiting for some horde (very fun to kill)and a crimzon whelp starts to attack me so i slauter it and a whelp drops i open the loot window and i see a whelp im jumping up and down and a 45 horde rides on in and kills me then my group member loots the whelp and i was soooo pist

PLEASE NOTE -- the red and the crimson drop the whelpling pet (although the red at about half the drop rate), the "lost" ones do not. HOWEVER, they are all on the same respawn timer. So if you don't kill the lost ones, then sooner or later, that is all you will have on the screen. For skinners, they all drop the red scale.
