Here's what I know so far. More then 20 hits fails, more the 20 debuff stacks fails, exactly 20 debuffs fails. 20 exact hits may be the winner. Beware of stray non-controlled barrels hitting him.

If you hit multiple barrels at once they sometimes give more stacks than they should. The way we did this achievement is by having just the tank do damage (was a dk to keep bloodshield up) and we hit him with every barrel that we could. You don't have to do this but some of the comments on here are incorrect. You do not need to get exactly 20 stacks you have to hit him with at least 20 barrels. we got the achievement at 39 stacks of the buff. To confirm, you definitely do not need exactly 20 stacks or exactly 20 barrels.

However, this is a really buggy achievement.

For us, we did this achievement by only killing him with barrels. No one attacked the boss but the tank, and he stopped around 50%. It took surprisingly little effort and time (about 3 minutes). Just have everyone get on a barrel and ram into him. Because of the stacking damage buff, he'll die sooner than you think.

We don't know which "part" of our strategy worked - the ~65 barrels that hit him, or getting the killing blow with a barrel, but both are pretty easy and have been repeated by my guild several times.

Killed him at 21 stacks, no achievement. Thought it had to be 20 exactly, still no achievement.

Edit: I have the achievement now. Needed an even number of stacks for me, 20,22,24,26

The easiest and safest way to do this achievement is to do no damage on him at all, and roll barrels into him until he dies. You'll end up with about 38-40 stacks when he dies and the achievement will pop up successfully. Getting 20 stacks is not enough at this point due to the barrels being buggy.

Just a little tip for people that using achievement tracker like Raid Achievements addon.
This addon does not work good on this boss it says its completed when it`s not just continue smashing those barrels into boss until he dies.
Everyone except tank should smash barrels into boss as this fight does not require nearly any healing.

First time i tried to solo this achievement, i just kited him through barrels, he was getting stacks, after 40+ barrels he died, but no achieve.

Today tried again, this time i hopped on barrels and rolled them into him, after around 24 barrels i killed him and got the achieve, so my guess is that unmanned barrels, though they give stacks, don't count. Also when he died he was at 8 stacks (the stacks fell off at one point), so stacks doesn't seem to be required. Hope this helps :)

Soloable by a 535 hunter (MoP classic) if you are smart about it. Getting on the barrels temporarily dismisses your pet (because the barrel is now your pet - stupid but true) meaning the boss will come and smack you. So prioritise barrels close to him and hit him during his ground pound. Then make sure your pet taunts back straight away (manually command it if necessary). You can also use feign death and deterrence to drop aggro/survive short periods of tanking until your pet taunt comes off cooldown. Spirit Bond and Mend Pet glyph are musts and bandages are also recommended.

Also others have mentioned, make sure you are counting only the barrels you stand on and run into the boss. Barrels that hit him naturally due to positioning do not count but achievement trackers can mistakenly think they do.
