The Bulwark has plenty of the mobs needed for this quest. The drop rate isn't too bad considering some of the rates I've encountered.
Start at 21,58 all the way to 30,30 - plenty of the mobs throughout that area!

Horrible, horrible drop rate.

Takes an average of 70 spider and 70 bear kills to complete. Vultures seem to have slightly better drops.

Drop Rate: (When I did it)

Bloodshot Spider Eye: 8 in 32 Kills 25%
Thick Black Claw: 8 in 23 Kills 35%

Drop rate wasn't to bad for me.
The good thing about this quest is that you can kill the vultures too in order to get the Bear claws / Spider eyes too.
Took me about 20 Minutes of grinding.

The Black claws also drop off the vultures birds that fly around. Just found this out while accidently aggroing one.

The drop rate wasn't that bad.I killed about 15 of each mob and i had the items.

The Mobs you have to kill is:

Venom Mist Lurker, to get Bloodshot Spider Eye and Carrion Vulture to get Thick Black Claw.

They are both in the beginning of Western Plague Lands (if you comes from Tirisfal Glades) and on the both sides of the road.

If you can, try to do the The Wildlife Suffers Too http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=4984 quest from the questgiver in The Writhing Haunt http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=10739, which has you kill 8 diseased black bears. There is a prereq to kill Diseased Wolves, but you can knock that out pretty easily.

Killing only bears and spiders, I didn't get a single spider eye until I'd gotten all my bear claws. At that point, the spiders started dropping the eyes at about the same rate as the bears dropped claws.

So no spider drops til after bear drops were done...coincidence?

i didnt have much trouble with drop rates, claws drop good, but the eyes are kinda low
remember to kill the birds as well, they drop both claw and eye.

Drop rate might be bad but if u have rested xp u get 620 per kill and lvl 50 so it cant be that bad.

i killed 6 spider and 2 vultures and got all the eyes i needed but now i have killed over 27 bears and not one claw have dropped for me yet can i buy these on ah???im desperat

Very good drop rate of the claws from the Diseased Black Bears. I didn't keep count but most of them dropped the claws. Every Venom Mist Lurker I killed had the spider eyes. I only found one vulture and it had an eye on it. So those mobs are your best bets for getting the drops for this quest. You'll find them more south of the road rather then north. North of the road are undead mobs in packs so you might wanna stear clear unless you can take them.

Also if you have skinning, the bears normally skin for rugged leather so it's a good place to stock up.

12 spiders, 36 bears and 27 vultures... yea, i agree that the drop rate is really bad :S

It took me 42 minutes 15 seconds =)

I don't know the exact drop rates, but it started out slow (5%-ish drop rate for teh first 8 things i got) and sped up towards the end (80%-ish drop rate for teh last 8 things).

Bear Claws dropped more than the spider eyes for me (at 2:1 ratio)

This is one of the quest that was obviously tailored for horde shamans and to be honest its a pain in the rear to do for alliance shammans. Horrible drop rate, very close to horde territory which leads to alot of horde killing you on the way thru the bullwark. This quest should have been remade once the alliance got shamans also. My advice is, unless youre 100% you will be going to sunken temple this is a quest you should skip.

Drop rate wasn't all that bad. The quest took about 30 minutes to complete and most of the mobs that drop the eyes and claws are East of the Bulwark.

Seems to me like the vultures tend to drop one or the other every kill :D

This quest can be a pain for resto shamans. Bc if you are like my shaman and wearing cloth gear for the spell power and intellect, the mobs can hit pretty hard. And the drop rate for both items is fairly low. It took 31 bears, 26 spiders, and 12 vultures to get all the items. I think Blizzard needs to raise the drop rate or something, bc this had one of the lowest drop rates for quest items i have seen in all Azeroth, Outlands, and Northrend.

If you're trying to lvl as a Resto shammy and doing quests as a resto shammy....you need to be slapped....severely.... *shakes head*

Not unless you ENJOY lvling 10x slower then everyone else
