For those wondering about the Coil of Rope:

Either swim to where you first started on these mount quests, with the upright seashell and buried treasure chest.
Dive into the abyssal stream and swim against it, at some point you'll get the question mark on your map.

For those looking, the ROPE is Not where the question mark on the map sais it is. It's at the quest hub you first goto after being "captured" at the crashed boats.

The rope is located behind the three Earthen Ring quest givers (Erunak Stonespeaker, Moanah Stonehoof and Rendel Firetongue) at Shallow's End. When you get close you will see the yellow question mark in the minimap. If you are relying on the world map marking for help, it's wrong.
