Hi, fellow goblins!

I just recently got addicted to making gold - sitting on 700k atm. I know I'm very far away from bruto, but doing my best.

Anyways, just wanted to ask, what are you doing in preparation for Shadowlands? I hear that you can make lots of gold in the beginning of the expansions if you have prepared in advance.

Also, what has worked for you in the previous years?

New expansion, new herbs, every wants to farm them when they learn it's easy money, and Sky Golems make the job easier for every class except druids.

Look at the graphs from the last year's of sky golem. It should be similar to this, maybe not as high, since the price Is a bit lower than before.

Beginning of expacs are not usually profitable until around the 3rd week after release. At least that is my past experience, though there are always many ways to capitalize on new in-game content. We usually get a better idea of what we should be preparing for during the pre-patch event (and studying wowhead info on professions changes). Opting in and playing Beta will give you an even better idea. But for a general rule of thumb, I always do the following:

If you are on a high-pop realm (or several, like me), expect long log-in queues and lots of sudden disconnects that first week of release. Stormrage, Proudmoore, Tichondrius, Dalaran, Sargeras, Area 52, and Mal'Ganis are notorious for being the most impacted due to the very high populations there. Seriously. Expect it and accept it! Consider making a character on a medium-pop realm just to explore things until your high/full-pop realm comes back online. Then you can go full bull-rush into content once your high-pop realm is back up and more stable.

Class and UI Changes:
Take screenshots of all character's tool bars and talent points for every class you play. Make 2 backups of addons: One that allows for the most minimum of addons, as addon developers are not usually privy to all the new changes (some are kept proprietary until release), and another backup of ALL of your addons (just copy the folder somewhere). Also of the screenshots folder. One addon that is repeatedly affected every single expac is ElvUI, which is why I don't use it, but most auctioning and pricing addons are very, very buggy those first couple of weeks. Back up your TSM and familiarize yourself with how to restore from backup. Have a plan for auctioning if your favorite addon outside of TSM is affected.

Consumeables:
Considering Blizzard announced a nerf incoming to potion cool-downs (much longer time-frames to next usage), you may only want to stock a limited supply.
Fishing and cooking food, especially speed/haste food and stamina food.
Mount equipment (as someone else mentioned). Speed and anti-daze ones.
Water-walking and water-breathing elixirs as well as invisibility potions.
BFA Enchants for gear. BFA LW Drums.
Stock up on BFA Augmented Runes - get them now while they are dirt cheap and very available!

Other:
Bags will normalize in price again, as many people come back into an expac creating a new character.
Have a few (not a lot) of BFA crafted sets ready to sell. Not everyone comes back during pre-patch and gets the gear that's usually tied in with that. Some people left the game a while ago and won't be back until after Shadowlands releases (for whatever their reasons are). Those are your buyers. Figure out how much Expulsom you will need for that small market corner and start stockpiling it now.
Get all your teleports made and ready to go back to places that help your current flow of gold-making. Whether that is binding your hearthstone, utilizing your mages, druids, dk's, or getting all your engineering teleports.
CLEAN OUT YOUR BANKS/BAGS! lol Sell off things that already sell very "iffy" anyway (i.e. pets, toys, transmog). There will be even less interest in those things once Shadowlands is released. You have at least 2 months, so start now if they are slow sellers anyway.

In the beginning of BfA the most profitable thing was selling darkmoon decks tbh. As well as selling Champions of Azeroth contracts. I did not make 8 million in 3 days but I made more than 3 million in less than 3 weeks by farming winter kiss in Drustvar, milling it down and then selling the inscription stuff.

Early SL:

Push enchanting and tailoring, which are on my main, and inscription as quick as possible. Like normal, get into the DMC market early. I'll probably do material swaps with guildies to get my stuff up, and will trade enchants for greens/blues that aren't being used for the mats. I'll also aggressively trade DMF cards in trade chat and in guild. Completing a deck is often worth losing a small amount of gold in a card for card trade.

Right around the end of the first week I'll go on a buying spree. At that point everyone'll be be leveling professions, and some will desperately want gold back. They'll put enchants, gems, and potions on the AH and basement level prices - way below the value that the mats will hold for months. I'll fill at least one bank tab up this way and sell them for months afterwards.

Between leveling my first 3-5 professions and buying under priced crafted items,I'll probably spend at least 5 million gold.

This is also probably the best time to get into BOE flipping, but I try to stay away from that personally.

What are your "fun" farms?u/Micahccino

I'm a little burnt out, so tomorrow I'm going to take a break from my normal farming routine, and try to do something fun, or something that could potentially give me a high-value reward. I typically do 2x4 mount farms when I'm feeling like this, because I find them to be enjoyable, especially when done with friends. But honestly, I'm feeling a little burnt out on those right now as well.

So, I'd love to hear about any farms that people find enjoyable. Also, I'm not too familiar with mount/pet/tmog world drops pre-bfa, so I'd also love some recommendations of what some good things to look into would be. I'm feeling lucky.

Old Raid Mount Collecting: I dont know too much about older world drop farming but I started my journey with raw gold/mount runs.

I've been playing and raiding since vanilla but never really got lucky with mount drops, and with 12 alts at 120 I decided now was the time to shore up my collection and make some gold.

Mythic Boosting: The only gold grind I find enjoyable is boosting m+ dungeons. Just blasting 10-15s with big pulls, and by far best gold/hour ingame. Other than that I only flip big items on AH, can't be bothered managing 100s of cheaper items.

Volatile Farms: I personally find the volatile farms fun. I also find mining/herbing to be relaxing while watching tv. If your character is geared for it and with the correct professions, freehold farming or atal dazar farming can be enjoyable as well. It’s all what you make of it

Old Materials: You'll want steady income that sells decently fast. So I'd recommend old mats. Not only primals and stuff but also maybe 10x sunken temple for leather, cruising blasted lands for rares, chilling in wetlands with a monk and skinning. If your server is decently populated you should expect weekly sales and it mixes up the routine. Fav farm is FH for me, and then some afk monk ones with Netflix or twitch

Pandaria Farms: I haven't played retail in close to a year, so I don't know how viable it is right now as far as profit, but I used to love rare farming in Pandaria. The area is one of the best looking that Blizz ever made, and there are tons of rares, all of which have a chance of dropping a bag of goodies that (if lucky) can be pretty decent with spirits of harmony, golden lotus, and panda ores.

They also all tend to drop items with decent vendor prices, and if you get lucky you might even get a pet or mount out of it. There are a bunch of maps online if you don't know where they are. If you are a miner, it is even better as it is one of the few expansions with worthwhile ore everywhere.

Toss in a few go-rounds of Timeless Isle and you can get lucky with some more goodies like easily sell-able pets. If you get lucky and find the crab pet, that is basically a lottery ticket.

Raw gold Farm: Atal'Dazar. You need leatherworking and skinning. I watch Netflix while Killing the dinosaur Packs. With the Netflix App you don't need a second Screen.

Legendary Crafting: I'm not fond of farming , but every once in a while , i like to craft the legendary boots from legion. Takes 30 minutes at most , and it usually sells for 50 - 80k. If you are looking to expand your inventory and have a stable source of bloods , it might not be a bad idea.

Dreamleaf Farms: I like farming Dreamleaf outside of DHT. When all the leashers outside are dead I clear DHT up to all the leashers after the first boss. After that everything outside should have respawned.

Fishing: I personally like watching youtube & fishing in the harbor in the city tbh. It's nice no rush just relaxing. Or netflix. Boralas is chill.

Pets: Power leveling popular sellable pets to 25 can be pretty good profit.

Skyreach: I was doing Skyreach 4 times a day and it was pretty chill doing it while watching a twitch stream/youtube video while doing so.
