Raidbots Presents the Droptimizer - Check Your Best Upgrades and Plan Your Coins

To celebrate the launch of the new raid, Battle of Dazar'alor, our friends from Raidbots have launched a new tool: the
Droptimizer
!
What is the Droptimizer?
The Droptimizer is a tool that uses current information from your character to calculate which bosses in a certain raid and in certain difficulty provide the largest immediate upgrades for you.
That said, it is
not
a tool focused on finding your best-in-slot items from the new raid. The Droptimizer only looks to one item at a time, finding you which pieces are the largest upgrade, comparing to your current gear. With that, the Droptimizer also calculates which bosses offer the best odds in providing you with a strong upgrade.
Note: the Droptimizer ignores Titanforging mechanics.

How to Use the Droptimizer?
The first step is to visit
Raidbots
and go to the
Droptimizer
.
Next, you must load your character. You can do that by either entering your Region, Realm, and Character Name information or by pasting data from the
SimulationCraft Addon
.
Next step is to choose which content you're looking to run the analysis. Currently, the Droptimizer supports
World Bosses
,
Uldir
and
Battle of Dazar'alor
. For Raids you must also select which difficulty you want to compare your gear to.
After selecting your content, a list with the items to be looked at will be shown to confirm what is being compared. The only limitation for Droptimizer is that it won't do comparisons with Azerite Armor, a feature that is limited to
premium members
, due to the sheer amount of combinations it generates.
Lastly, you must choose your simulation options. Since Raidbots runs SimulationCraft in its backend, those are the same options as used in the simulation tool. If you're uncertain on any parameters, don't change them, as they can swing your results wildly. There are many different
Fight Styles
that you can choose from, each option gives a brief explanation of what is simulated.
Finally, just click on the
Run Droptimizer
button at the bottom of the screen to begin!
Understanding Droptimizer Results
After starting your simulation, the next step is to wait a bit until your simulation is finished. Once it is, you will find a screen similar to

The screen has a lot of information, but basically, it sorts the bosses based on a criterion. By default, it will be sorted by
Best Drop
, sorting bosses by the best possible drop available from each boss. Another sorting option is
Expected Value
, which takes into consideration the odds of you getting each piece from the boss in consideration. For instance, if a boss has one piece that is a huge upgrade for you, but two others that are bad, it will have a really high
Best Drop
, but a smaller
Expected Value
, because only 1 in 3 drops from the boss are upgrades.
The Droptimizer also creates a priority for each boss, giving each a ranking that groups bosses with similar overall upgrade possibility. Smaller the priority, better the loot. The priority can help you decide which bosses are interesting for you to coin, or even which bosses should you look for completing in characters that won't run the whole instance.

Beyond the Droptimizer
As mentioned in the intro, the Droptimizer has many limitations. It doesn't serve as a BiS list for the raid, as it only considers one piece at a time, and it doesn't consider dungeon loot, which is usually a better source for gear in some slots, like rings.
