my brother went to maxdps.com and is now bragging that he found out that shadow priests have the best dps at lvl 80, can anyone confirm this?

maybe hybrid class, but not overall DPS. BM Hunter is topping those charts right now the Beastial Wraith and Readiness Combo.

Well, I beat out most of the other dpsers in damage but still have problems with some classes. Our ret pally got a new 2 hander the other day (Black Ice) and now he is tearing up the charts (around 3500-4000 dps on most fights). I cannot keep up with that.

DPS is constantly shifting as bliz adjusts class balance. Constantly. Any class that's highest today will not be highest in a month.

If you're proud of being the top dps, remember that mostly it's because that's just the lay of the land right now. Of course gear & skill count, of course they do. But we are all at the mercy of the developers and the current state of play in their neverending rebalancing. Pride is perfectly irrelevant - boast all you want about being #1, and it still has more to do with the current class balance than anything else.

Relax, enjoy the class you enjoy. If you're rolling to be the highest dps, prepare to be on an emotional rollercoaster of your own creation.

Being able to do good doesn't make a class or spec OP. The whole point in the changes in 3.0 to spriests were to make it possible for us to keep up with other classes. If we were nerfed BECAUSE we can keep up with other people then that would of made 3.0 completely redundant for us. Any class can top dps charts now, we're no exception.

I agree. I have seen almost every class top dps charts on different fights and with different raid composition. Let's say my last week's Naxx10 was a ret pally (imp blessing of might), enh shaman (WF/str of earth totem), DK (horn of the whatever buff), warrior giving battle shout, and a hunter with trueshot aura. Then caster dps was me, shadow priest, that's it. So granted with that kind of layout it becomes more challenging to top dps. Not even a mage to give int buff.lol

Personally I hope Spriests stay near the top for a long while. They were on the bottom for about all of tbc. I still don't like Spriest spec for pvp quite yet (although dispersion and double-crit MB & MF is a good start), but is it cool to see the occasional Spriest rock the damage meters for Naxx.
