OK, so i'm kind of new to playing a priest, but find it fun to play sofar (lvl36 now). I noticed something strange today, as the
Power word: Fortitude buff
in my spellbook says something different than the actual buff i'm getting.
In my spellbook i see that it gives 41 extra stamina, but when I buff it says only 32 extra stamina. Am I missing something here? Then the other thing is that the actual health increase is 430, while it should be 410, right?
Little programming error perhaps or is there a reason for it?

it's a common bug that happens with all buffs that actually get modified by talents. If you have the "
Improved Power Word: Fortitude
" talent, it will show up in your spellbook, but not on your buff bar. It's been like that for years...

Its not a bug, its intended, but yeah.
The extra health you get comes from the extra 4% stamina you get from the talent :- its applied after buffs.

It's intended to misinform?
It's a bug.
Its intended not to reveal information about your character such as talent build in PvP situations?
Its intended.
No modifyable buff displays modifiers.

Holy cow DHamp, if you're analyzing their spec as you PVP, you must mentally multitask better than anybody I know. Usually for me, it's kill kill! save save! I don't have the time or the mental capacity to mouse-over and analyze spec as I'm fighting. Then again, you could always just tab out and look up your opponent on the armory if you're that good and get even more info out of it.

Its more for a PvP realm situation where PvP enabled contact =/= PvP combat- this decision was made long before Arenas, and BGs were like they are now.
Its also partly for spells - no modifiers are displayed for (say) Renew, so you cant strategically purge.
Then theres the whole technical aspect of communicating a &*!@ ton of extra information about the caster, or having inaccurate tooltips based on teh reciever's stats and talents.
I dont *like* the situation, but it was a concious decision, not unintended mechanics. Therefore: Working As Intended

Haha honestly Imp. Fort is ALWAYS taken in any build PvE or PvP I've seen. Besides I don't think anyone will seriously PvP as holy. So you're either a semi-phased purple SPriest, or a disc priest.
Haha I don't like this bug, be it intended or not.
Yes. Everything in the game is designed around arena PVP priests.
This applies to EVERY buff, most importantly, HoTs, and DoTs.
Not to mention blizzard not recognising cookie-cutter builds- they cater to EVERY scenario within their own constraints. The fact that most priests take Imp PW:F does not mean all do.

Are you saying that you don't think that HoTs get purged/spellstolen unless they're "improved"? I think that I see the icons I don't want on the target, I'll automatically reach for my dispelling keys. On the other hand, I don't do much in the way of PVP.

I think he's saying that Blizz had to draw a line somewhere, and they drew it at the doorstep. And that

I mean, a rejuv from a feral druid with no Nurturing Instinct on target A wont take precedent over the Rejuv from a Tree on target B. You see the icon- you purge it. That wouldnt necessarily be the case without the "bug", or if you were a class with limited purging (warlocks for example have an 8sec cooldown)
Also bear in mind this was "designed" before the SP/Healing normalisation - A balance druid's Rejuv was no better than that of a feral druid.

Does pretty much nothing by keeping it that way. However, it's been around far too long for it to be simply a bug. Must just be a lazy Blizzard.
Or possibly that "rectifying" it would require both a rewrite of the entire tooltip coding, and the transfer of considerably more data, thus creating considerably more "server lag".
Assuming we have a 10 man raid, with everybody providing one buff to everybody else, we have 100 buffs and 100 pieces of information transmitted every tick. In the current situation, the buff icons are merely "this person has rank X of buff Y active", and data about the buff provider is only transmitted upon the instant of buffing, when the character sheet increase is applied. By making buff icons reflective of the caster's information, we get a situation where not only must the information about the caster's stats and talents be stored for every buff on a character, it must constantly be transmitted by the buffee. For a simple buff, then we have 200 or maybe 300 pieces of information per tick depending on the number of talents that modify the buff.
For more complex spells like rejuv, it pushes into the thousands.
Now imagine Dalaran.

This isn't about effects showing the correct level of healing per tick according to spellpower. This is about static buffs which do not change other than through talents.
Which are different to any other spell how exactly?
All tooltips are coded exactly the same way. One buff is short term and provides hp5, another is longer and proveds stamina. There's no technical difference between the two spells.
Buffs are buffs, regardless of duration.
Even if we discount transmission of non-talent modifiers, then we still have the situation where a buff like Renew has to transmit and store data about whether
