Just Ding'd 80 last night. My gear is kinda crappy for tanking, so I have been reading about where to get good PvE Tanking Gear for pre-raiding (Yakra's Theories on Tanking) . My question is, what are some of the easiest low-gear req raids out there? I want to get my feet wet somewhere in a raid enviroment, since I have never done a raid, and have done very little dungeons (every time I was in a PUG we could never find a healer so ended up disbanding. Also if you know of any other decent gear that is relatively easy to obtain for a noob tank I'd much appreciate it.

I would suggest getting started tanking in regular dungeons and heroics before doing a raid. Once you're very capable in a regular deungeon/heroic then move to the raid.
For gear I would suggest farming ToC reg.

See thats where I get confused... I'm still relatively new to WoW in general (I have played for a few months, but until recently it was only once a week). I assumed heroics were all raids.

You really should try to tank all the dungeons first. They each have a tactic you will need to learn(at least when you're low geared) and you will get a lot of good experience tanking them.
And run ToC regular and heroic to get a lot of good starter epics.
I wouldn't bother with the other normal dungeons as virtually nobody is running them anymore and it can be a ^&*!@ to find people for it.
Make sure you are using gems/enchants to boost your stats.
It doesn't hurt to bring some statfood/flasks when you're starting out to increase your low stats.
OS, Naxx, VoA are easy raids if you know the tactics(apart from a few bosses which might give you headaches at first).
Tactics are very important, especially if you're low geared, so learn them all.
And if you can find a job as an off-tank, that would probably be a good way to get to know the raids.

Another option to consider is running as many of the 5-man heroic dungeons as you can using a dps spec. This allows you to experience and learn all of the encounters/pulls without the added overhead/stress of tanking them. Often the tank won't need any of the drops and is there to farm emblems, so you can pick up some pieces that way.
Try to run all of the 5-man dungeons on normal mode to learn them before you do heroic, or make sure the rest of the group knows that it will be your first time tanking it. This will hopefully weed out a lot of the people who consider it offensive that the tank doesn't chain pull the entire instance.
When people say "raid", they mean 10 or 25 person content. "Heroics" are the same as the 5-man dungeons, just with harder hitting mobs meant for level 80s with some gear.

TY guys alot. After I do my dailies, I'm going to see if there are any PUG for reg dungeons avaliable to atleast learn the fights. I'm going to get some Rep gear before I go do ToChamp (i'm not that far, should be done with the bulk of it tonight, since I'm off tomorrow.)
Thank you again!
