Well, I hope this is a good way to start being part of the community which helped me so many times in World of Warcraft.
I am pretty new gamer in WoW. Started when Pandaria came out, got one main hero on lvl90, few pandaria exalted reputations, getting to know battlegrounds, raids, got sick of dungeons... you remember what it's like, at the very beginning. I am still learning about everything (rotations, pvp, pve, lore, pets, shortcuts, gear -this is by the far, toughest, raids, etc.) which is normal, and I love it :)
I really really love warcraft and its lore, I was hypnotized since reign of chaos, and, starting World of Warcraft a bit "late" was the fact that always bothered me. I can't stop thinking and wishing that I got sucked in this same realm and war ground when TBC or WotLK were popular. I am always thinking that I arrived late, and that it is a matter of months when Blizzard will announce that they are quitting on support and claim the WoW dead. Which is the thing i desire least.
So, I ask all of you, like pros in WoW, what is your opinion on this subject, or you may call it - my paranoia, will WoW be shut down soon, or, will we see a lot more content and experience from Blizzard in the future?

I figure 3 more expansions minimum to finish the story arc as it exists, so another 7 years give or take. Then ... who knows.
Blizzard is somewhat unique as far as gaming companies go, in that it is far larger and has more resources, cash and revenue at its disposal. A film is in the works. It merchandises (to a small extent, but still....). It is not based on someone else's IP so there are no licensing issues to be concerned about.
In short, Blizzard is highly unlikely to kill this goose anytime soon. The golden eggs keep rolling in.

Since Runescape and Everquest are still running....I'm guessing a very very long time.

Plus, The only reason they'll ever kill WoW is to make WoW 2 or WC4.
Them just killing off warcraft is like Nintendo giving up on Pokemon.
It's just too big a cash cow.

Blizzard has said that as long as there's people playing the game, they'll keep the game alive. Sure we're running out of bad guys to kill, but that isn't really a problem, they made a first round of bad guys, they can make completely new bad guys from scratch.
Look at Lei Shen, was never before mentioned, yet was a fantastic villain, one of their best written ones. From the mythos of warcraft there aren't many big-name villains left. Azshara, Mal'ganis, Kil'jaeden, The Old Gods, Sargeras, and heck, even the Titans (Yes, I don't consider them good guys, anyone willing to raze an entire planet, just cuz it didn't' go according to their blueprints can't possibly call itself Good). But once these run out, new threats could be introduced.
There are some MMO franchises that are still ongoing, such as the ones Adamsm mentioned, Everquest, and Runescape. Then there's what eccentrica mentioned, this is an original IP, so there's no licensing to worry about, and it has a TON of merchandise (Comics, books, trading card game, action figures, and the usual stuff, clothes, posters, a movie along the way, and so much more)
In short, I think its entirely plausible that 10 years from now, this game is still up and running.
I don't think they're gonna make a "Wow 2".
Because unless they figure the MECHANICAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL BEHEMOTH of a task of transferring the gazillion characters on their database, to a new database, most people wont bother.
That's one big issue that Guild Wars is facing. It had a decently-sized playerbase, but then they put GW2 out there, and you couldn't transfer your toons from the first game, into the second. You had to start all over again. Some accepted this, others didn't.
I know A TON of players won't take kindly to this after all the time they've invested in their achievements, pets, mounts, quests, reps, transmog sets, pvp rating, etc. Furthermore, this entire migration of every character ever made, from the servers of wow 1 to the servers of wow 2, would need to be instantaneous. If the game is down for a prolonged period of time (Say a month) that will also hurt the numbers. So we're talking about transferring what has to be several hundred terabytes of data from server 1 to server 2, instantaneously, without errors, without crashes or unexpected problems, and then this must all be compatible with the new world of warcraft game.
I don't think we're there yet, but who knows, maybe in 10 years.

Well, as it was mentioned Blizzard's stance is "until you are playing WoW, we will support it" - so I think you aren't really late. I'm quite sure that they are already working on the next expansion (at least storywise), and has plans for 2-3 more. Even if the playerbase will decline, it is still big enough to justify the further work with WoW.

Great and optimistic community here, indeed :)
Well, I'm glad that I heard opinions from well informed people, because everywhere I'm encountering at articles talking about "WoW killers" and similar pesimistic arguments. Keep on grinding, killing and wowheading :)

WoW killers are full of hot air; ignore any article where that term is used, since it's just full of crap.

Also there are some rumors that when WoW reaches its last expansion they will reset it.I've never heard any hint of rumours like that....

Yeah, me neither and I do a lot of reading. Frankly I don't think people would tolerate a reset either. This isn't a Tale in the Desert.

Blizzard has said that level 100 would be a nice place to stop. That's at least two more expansions, assuming each expansion increases the level cap.
However, as pointed out earlier, if we keep playing and paying, they will continue developing. There are villains we haven't faced yet, and since it is their world, Blizzard can freely introduce and develop new bad guys. They can turn current heroes bad, bad people good...
Also, keep in mind Blizzard is developing a new MMO, "Titan" (name subject to change), which is not based on any current Blizzard property, and its genre is unknown. Most people believe when Titan is released, WoW and Titan will co-exist, and we will buy game time to play one or both games, kind of how Sony has the StationPass.
In other words, instead of buying game time for Warcraft or Titan, you would buy game time which would work for both games.

What? No one? Really? I heard this first time at the end of WotLK.
Until you said this today, I've never once heard anyone make that type of a comment.

People have been saying that as far as Burning Crusade. Always latching onto the newest upcoming MMO as the one that will finally kill wow. So far, the following games were meant to kill wow: Age of Conan, Aion, Warhammer online (lol), Tera, SWTOR, GW2, and now, Elder Scrolls Online.
The result is always the same: on launch day, you'll see little activity on wow, but after a week, things are back to normal.
What's even funnier is that the naysayers ALWAYS bash the current expansion as the spawn of satan, while hailing the previous expansion as God's Gift to Mankind.
In WOTLK, TBC was orgasm, while wrath sucks.
Cue Cata, and its Cata sucks, Wrath was awesome.
Cue MoP, and its MoP sucks, Cata was great.
And when whatever else is coming after MoP gets released, the naysayers will bash it too, then praise MoP. its a vicious circle that never ends.

Yep, I always keep my ear to the ground when it comes to blizzard and they've NEVER said anything like that. So its a false rumor.
