This is a quest reward from SEVEN! YUP! started from Oralius at Morgan's Vigil in Burning Steppes. Have to run around and capture 7 flameflies along the path leading to Redridge.

To begin the quest line to receive this pet, you must head to Thorium Point in searing Gorge and receive the quest Mouton Flamestar. This will take you to Flamestar Post in the Burning Steppes where you must complete all the quests given to you there and then all the quests available at Chiselgrip as well. After defeating a fire elemental in Blackrock Stronghold, the first quest in the line, Abuse of Power will become available which you follow until you end up at Flame Crest and receive the quest Not Fireflies, Flameflies from Kibler. This quest is very easy and simply requires you to click on 7 Flameflies which are abundant in the surrounding area and you can do so mounted.

It's a very long series of quests seeing as you must complete all of them, but not very difficult. I got mine a little while ago and I believe I have the first one on my server Exodar :) He's purple and green and has a little animation where he appears to clean himself. Worth the annoyingly long quest line!

If you are level 80 (I do not know about other levels since only doing it on my level 80s), then you do not need to use the bread crumb quests, just go directly to Flamestar Post.

Unfortunately, if you are hated with Booty Bay (ie, you did Bloodsail Admiral) you cannot talk to Kibler.

Just a heads up for people that want the pet.. it looks like you'll have to get your Booty Bay reputation up before you get the pet.

This pet is a purple/green reskin of the current pet Firefly. It has similar animations to the firefly and cleans its face (while idle) aswell as flies.

How to get it
Alliance: This pet can be obtained by completing the quest SEVEN! YUP!. The quest is the end of a chain and the first quest can be obtained at Thorium Point, Searing Gorge. The first quest in the series is called Abuse of Power.

Horde: This pet is rewarded from the quest Not Fireflies, Flameflies. The quest is the end of a chain and the first quest can be obtained at Thorium Point, Searing Gorge. The first quest in the series is called Abuse of Power.

Actually, Abuse of Power is the beginning of the quest chain for this pet. Although you may have to do several quests prior to Abuse of Power being available, it's still the official beginning of the chain.

A chain quest is a series of quests back-to-back (meaning as soon as you turn one in, you're offered another one right away). Just because you need to do a quest elsewhere for Abuse of Power to appear, it doesn't mean that Abuse of Power isn't that start of the chain.

note if you are hated with any of the goblins like ratchet or booty bay your not getting it on horde... you have to talk to Kibler and he is from Booty Bay and im hated with them better start working on getting rep back!

Thinking of it as a questline is a bit misleading as the quests dead end at a couple points and you need to know where to go to continue. Here are my notes that I used to get the pet on 3 different toons. Good luck!

Mouton Flamestar ( 17.1, 51.3)
- Done Nothing Wrong (free 4 chained whelps)

Ariok (17.5, 51.7)
- Burning Vengeance (kill 5 orcs, kill 5 whelps)
- Stocking Up (kill/loot 5 scorpids)
- A Future Project (kill/loot 11 worgs)
- Mud Hunter (pick up 9 piles of mud)
- The Sand, The Cider, and the Orb (visit some goblin)

Gorzeeki Wildeyes (8.3, 35.9)
- Warlocks have the Neatest Stuff (pick up two items and kill an orc for loot)
- Shadow Boxing (kill a fancy orc)
- Return to Ariok (go back to first orc)
- Chiselgrip, the Heart of the Steppes (kill 15 orcs)

Stebben Oreknuckle (46.7, 44.2)
- Prove Yer Allegiance (kill 10 dwarves)
- Scrapped Golems (kill golems and collect specific pieces on the ground near them)

This pet can fly, and will follow you through the air when you use a flying mount (as opposed to running along the ground like some companions pets do).

I can confirm on a level80 I did NOT have to complete the "breadcrumb" quest leading me to Flamestar Post.

Takes 26 quests (26/40) to get the pet. About 30 minutes if you know what you are doing beforehand. If you tie up the few optional quests along the chain then really the questing out of the Vigil (Alliance) is the last questing in the zone so 20 more minutes will afford you the achievement for the zone.

EDIT: What content of my comment was wrong? At the time there was much debate on if you actually needed to do the breadcrumb quest. Also unlike Withers, you actually end up doing most of the zone here before getting the pet, so a few more minutes can get you the acheive.

I'm a little Peeved, i spent hours and hours farming for the firefly, never could get it to drop, so i dished out 2k for it on AH. NOW they bring in this pet. -_-' coulda just got this one! lol.
i wish you could have more than one pet out at once, i would totally, have both firelies(flamefly whatever :P) out at once.

So here I am doing these quests as Horde. To get the flamefly. And have just one shot the magma lord (Automatic at 85). So I head out of Blackrock fortress..and stop before I walk out the door and think "What am I seeing? Everythings on fire out there..Like I am looking at a solid wall of flame..then it hits me. While I was doing the magma lord quest Deathwing was destroying the zone. I remember this is what Orsis looked like when he got me the first time. I am like a Deathwing magnet or something. Once is fine but over and over is annoying. I am supposed to bonk the sergeants and troopers with the discipline stick but all I see is a field of flame and my combat log says they are all toasted! I did manage to fly out and not die. He strafed the whole zone. From the Dreadmaul rock to Flamestar post was on fire. The flame lasts about 5 min.

Holy this quest chain is a P.I.T.A, but luckily it goes pretty fast if you're high lvl.
I didn't have to start at Thorium Post, I started at Flamestar Post. You have to do all the quests there, then go to Chiselgrip, get the disguise and do all the quests for the blackrock dudes, the end one is the discipling one, once you've killed the generals or w/e you go back to chiselgrip and he sends you to Kibler in Flame Crest. Kibler gives you the quest Not Fireflies, Flameflies. You can stay mounted to gather them, F.Y.I.
So at the top of this page where it says it's the end of a chain with the first quest as Abuse of Power, that's very misleading.
It starts in Flamestar Post with Mouton Flamestar.

For anyone wondering how long it will take you to get the Tiny Flamefly(as Alliance) at 85 questing through the Burning Steppes, it took me 29 minutes, 23 seconds going from the very first quest(Burning Vengeance to the quest that gives you the Tiny Flamefly(SEVEN! YUP!). I was taking my time as well so I'm sure it can be done much quicker :)

I just completed this quest chain last night, specifically to get the Tiny Flamefly pet. I ran into a few problems. Although I could/should comment on the individual quests that caused the problems (and maybe I will later), I'm listing the 2 noted problems here.

I use Carbonite, mostly for the zoom-able map but also for the detailed quest tracking (yeah, I know WoW has built-in quest tracking now, but I still like Carbonite's maps). However, after completing the quest A Perfect Costume, one of the NPCs will try to contact you 'telepathically' on 2 or 3 occasions. It's not 'telepathically', but you do get a "Quest Completed" and a couple "Quest Discovered" dialogue pop-ups, starting at the completion of The Kodocaller's Horn. If you are using Carbonite (or some other quest tracking add-on), the quest line stops working here. I had to log out, turn off Carbonite, and log back in to continue. I figured this out because in the Wowhead comments of the quest where the problem started (turn in of The Kodocaller's Horn), someone there said they had to turn off QuestGuru to get things to continue. I ran into the same problem and disabling Carbonite worked for me. This error occurs at least one other time during the quest line (while working for General Thorg'izog), so you'll probably want to run this entire quest line without quest-tracking add-ons, at least starting at The Kodocaller's Horn (or when you encounter problems).

Then there is the problem with the 'Perfect Costume' itself. I'm not sure what the problem is exactly, but you have to put the costume on a couple (or more) times during the quest line. My problem was that I could not put it back on at one point. I still had the mask on and couldn't take it off, so I couldn't put the whole costume on to complete General Thorg'izog. Eventually, I figured out that I had the costume buff still on (as well as the mask), and had to right-click the buff to dismiss it before I could put the whole costume back on and complete the quest. If you can't turn in General Thorg'izog (talk to the General), try dispelling the costume buff and putting the costume back on.

I hope this helps at least 1 person to make it worth my while of typing it in (click + on this comment's Rating if it helped you, please!). Happy Hunting out there! :)

Has anyone else noticed that this pet never goes away?
I'm used to summoning pets after death, but this one is always around. I've only ever summoned him once and he's just ALWAYS there. I'm not complaining, but I find it very strange.

Perhaps this is an issue with my one toon? Because on my main I'm used to resummoning pets after death, entering instances, after flight paths, etc.

Nearly identical for Alliance, I didn't notice it was for Horde until a few quests in and I was "supposed" to go back to Ariok according to this guide. (It's Keeshan for Alliance)

I too am up against a wall with this quest line. The Mask disguise, fell off while i was fighting a golem, anyway, I have looked all through my bags, no mask to put back on. I have gone back to the npc who made it, no luck there. I need this darned mask to finish this quest line. I am soooo close to my Tiny Flamefly. I have tried logging out and back in again and that didn't work, I don't have a quest tracker either. Anyone who may see this please respond with an idea. I am at a standstill with this until I get another mask. I heard the voice that said "in game" "Oops, your mask has fallen off". That is when I started looking all over for it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I collect pets so this means a lot to me. Thank you in advance for all the posts previous to mine with all the helpful hints, directions and lists. You guys are awesome to share this with everyone!
