There seems to be a glitches with this quest. I've made it through the first part of the chain no problem, but I have problems with the second quest of the chain- I get about 2/3rds of the way through the zombie wave, and no more zombies follow. I've abandoned the quest and restarted it, but I'm still having the same issues. I want my Sunflower pet, darn it!

The quest to gain this companion is basically a Plants Vs. Zombies clone type game. If you've played PvZ; You should have no trouble with this. If not...here are some good strategy points to get you through this.

- ALWAYS right click sun when you see it. It gives you your basic energy needed to win.

- Try to get 2 columns of sunflowers up. This may take some time, and may require you to first get some spitter plants up first; But it's worth it. 2 columns (or at least 8 sunflowers if not) will give you more Solar Energy than you know what to do with.

- A basic row should look a little like (Sunflower-Sunflower-Spitter plant-spitter plant-freezya plant-rock nut). Two spitter plants ensures enough DPS, as freezya plants do very little actual damage.

- At the start of a game, if a zombie starts marching on a row with no adjacent or nearby plants; Feel free to let that zombie get to the end. Each row has a lawnmower like device that will wipe out any undead on that row. Feel free to utilize them HOWEVER, unlike the actual game these undead have a tendancy to attack plants in nearby rows...not just the ones theyre marching on.

- Place stranglers outside your rock nuts for additional DPS. You may find yourself utilizing this plant the least; But if you already have a solid defense, and your pumpkin bomb is on cooldown; Feel free to set some of these down.

- Pumpkin bombs blow up all nearby zombies and ghouls; But only damage larger undead. With two columns of sunflowers; You should find yourself with enough energy to do this every so often. Don't waste it on just one or two zombies, though.

- When the boss finally shows up; Follow this strategy. He will occassionally destroy 2-3 of your plants, but with two columns of sunflowers; You should be able to replant easily enough. Pumpking bombs appear to be the best way of damaging the boss....although when I tried, the first pumpkin bomb I used did nothing. This might be a bug. When they do actually hit, they do about 1/4 of his health in damage.

- Picking up green energy balls reduces the cooldowns on your plants.

This, of course, isn't the only strategy. Find your own. And have fun! Your sun flower companion awaits.

This could possibly be a glitch, but when someone else is doing the quest you can't see it. If this is correct, it will be annoying as it does take some time to get this chain done. I can't seem to get thru the 2nd part of the chain (the pumpkins) uhg.

The game plays different then the actual Plants vs Zombies game. I never had to sit through almost 2 minutes of zero sun drops with 6 sun flowers up. Other then that, at the start of the game they seem to release the zombies fast and the second one is always a ghoul for me.

Still cant beat the pumpkin part. ><

The Singing Sunflower pet follows you around but occasionally stops to sing one of the following phases:

"There's a zombie on your la-awn"
"Da da do de do de do de"
"La la la, la la, la la la"
"Do be do be do be do be"
"Be bop da do boop bop, bop ba doop boop bop"

When it stops to sing, music notes will float up and it's hands will glow.

Still nobody mentioned that this pet is cute.

It's so damn cute that just looking at it makes me smile just like it. And when it sings.. awwww...

Speaking of strategy. That's what i've used and recommended to my friends who had problems.

S — sunflower
D — spitting thing
F — freezing thing
T — tanking thing
Y — yogg-saron thing

So you just ignore zombies and build a row of sunflowers first, like this

Than you'l see a couple of lines of zombies, set up a simple defence

S*******
S*******
S*D*****

And then build the second line of sunflowers, blocking any new lines of zombies in a same pattern.

At some point the ghols will start spawning. A freezer is a first countermeasure. If you have a tanknig thing, you can plant it to buy time for building defence.

SSD**T* -> SSDF*T* -> SSDFDT*

But if yougg-saron thing is available, this is a pattern

SSD**Y* -> SSDF*Y* -> SSDFDY* -> PROFIT

So, your ideal field should look like this:

Tried SSSDFY* for the final mission, which involves intense pumpkin bombing. Nice.

How to get a lot of sunflower energy.

Step one: Collect energy.
Step two: plant first sunflower.
Step three: more energy.
Step four: Second sunflower.
Step five: Rock the first row of zombies coming, as close to in front of zombie as possible.
Step six: plant sunflower
Step seven: keep collecting energy.
Step eight: Rock the second row of zombies coming.
Step nine Plus: Keep the zombies rocked off until you have two rows of sunflowers (the far left rows)

The next round of zombies will not spawn until the first three zombies are dying. So don't kill them, just block them, until you have the sunflower energy you need. Then kill with a tenticle you'll be planting anyway. I found that i dropped a spitter, and as soon as one of the zombies died, the next round came, so i wouldn't suggest starting the aggressive until TOTALLY ready. I was near ready, so it was okay.

Easier killing.

I used the vines. I placed some vines 2 blocks from the right/entry point. I would put 2-3 rows of vines as the game went on. I would also try to keep the first blocks from the entry point filled with rocks as the cooldown was up and i had energy (i had plenty of energy, it was the cooldown mostly) I also threw in a freezy in each row and spitter in each row, to the right of the sunflowers for good measure. But the vines did most of the work. The VINES are the PRIORITY! Come time for the a'bombs at the end, a few pumpkins (plenty of energy) and they went down smoothly.

Thank you to the above posters for the different ideas. I combined the two and it was pretty dang smoooooth!

I went with 1st and 2nd rows sunflower,3rd and 4th rows all spitters,5th all rocknuts, and put tentacles up at the end of the board where the zombies spawn(replacing when killed). And put more spitters up where ever at that point when I could and replaced plants that get killed as I went.

I didn't use any freezers or pumpkins.
Pretty cut and dry, and worked like a charm for me.

This pet is obtainable through the quest Lawn of the Dead which can be completed just south of the Dalaran Crater in Hillsbrad Foothills. The quest is essentially a minigame which can be played even after the final part of the chain is completed. Experienced players of Plants vs Zombies should have little difficulty in completing this quest as it is essentially the same concept. To learn more about the mechanics of this minigame click here.

This pet is actually an in-game version of the sunflower plant from the Plants vs Zombies game. It will occasionally have music notes appear over its head and it will sing parts from the PvZ theme song.

It used to say "Sunflower" on beta every time it is spawned, but people spammed it, hence blizz removed it I guess.

In case you can't find it in your overcrowded Companions pane: The pet is called "Singing Sunflower", and the companions pane is sorted alphabetically left to right. Icon is a peacebloom. (I nearly paged a GM myself not being able to find Brazie's Sunflower...)

Its the absolute cutest pet in the game! x)
You get it from the quest: Lawn of the Dead, the last in a chain of quests given by a goblin in Hillsbrad, north of the sludge fields.
The quests play kinda like a stratagy game, so I put some Warcraft 3: Rain of Chaos music in the background :3

It's worth noting that the tentacle plants can grab targets from up to two squares away, which means you can place them behind walls and they can still attack freely.

2 days ago I was in a dungeon with a player with this companion.
Its cute and I fell in love with her instantly when I heard her humming.
Its so lovely and I feel happy whenever she hum.

I opened Wowhead to search for her and obtain it the same day.
The quest chain is the most interesting experience I've had.
Highly recommended to anyone.

Master the last 2 quests with ease using this template:

S = Sunflower
T = Tentacle
+ = open space

One row of Sunflowers while disregarding any approaching zombies.

S++++++
S++++++
S++++++
S++++++
S++++++

Then place 1 Tentacle in the direct center of the playfield. (It will grab all advancing zombies)

SS+++++
SS+++++
SS++T++
SS+++++
SS+++++

You will be picking up sun power long after your meter hits 100% just to see the available slots left for planting. You'll now be waiting on the Tentacle's cooldown.

Depending on advancing zombie groups, modify your defense until it looks like:

SS++T++
SS+T+T+
SS++T++
SS+T+T+
SS++T++

Nothing can get past this line of defense, careful though, Tentacles may get glitchy and end up tossing a zombie so high they stutter in midair and land behind your sunflowers. Take them out with Exploding pumpkins. Use the pumpkins only as a "smart bomb". Maintaining this template is unstoppable and more tentacles prove utterly comical and have been known to provoke screenshots.

I don't know if it was just me, but for the last part of the chain to defeat the boss, my plants kept dying over and over again. I know the he throws stuff on your plants and kills them that way, but whenever i would plant a new plant in that spot, it would die. When i would replace it after all the green stuff went away, it would still die. the ones that did survive (very few), would die in a minute or two without him throwing anything.

Has this happened to anyone else? I also noticed that when he throws more stuff at my plants, old places that were previous attack sites also get attacked even though there would be no green stuff on them on by them. Is that supposed to happen or is it a glitch? Thanks in advance.

It makes it really hard because one second, all my plants are there, the next, they are all dead.

Edit: I tried doing the final quest one more time, and I still had the problems, but I managed to kill before he did too much damage. I was actually following other peoples' advice and was planning on planting two rows of sunflowers and didn't actually gert to it. My first row of sunflowers was giving me immense amounts of sun as well as the periodic sun that falls, and I ended up killing him before my second row was planted. This is what I'm pretty sure the field looked like in case anyone wants to know (in case they look randomly placed, I planned on having to build up, but I killed him sooner than I thought):

Just make sure you put up two FULL rows (that's 10) of sunflowers... you can't kill anything if you don't have the energy... also, as SOON as you can use the "grabber" tenticle (a.k.a. Yogg Saron arm) use it... they can deter enemies in 3 rows... if you get into a bind, you can use the Rocks, but as long as you have the 10 sunflowers, you are bringing in enough energy to put something offensive out, you might as well go with a spitter or a grabber arm. The final fight is fairly intense, but as long as you keep collecting energy you should be fine... The best way to kill the boss at the end is to stack as much energy as possible and throw pumpkins at him... there is a special orb that drops that "fertilizes" you... your cool down for casting is almost eliminated... DROP PUMPKINS! As many as you can, while still collecting orbs, so you can bombard that dude without waiting for a cooldown...

I respect the above entries and feel that they will work just fine, but I found that the freezers were little more than worthless and the rocks are only good for holding them in a spot... go all out with the spitters and Yogg-Saron arms for offense and sunflowers to replenish.

Sounds like a bug to me... I've done this on 5 toons so far, the only way mine die is if they are attacked or the boss throws herbicide on them.

When doing the quest chain, don't put anything in the last rightmost row (where the enemies come out) to avoid getting the whole thing bugged.

Currently (10.2.6), you can buy one of each lost companion from stable masters per log-in. So if you want 2 more Sunflowers, buy one, relog, then buy another.
