Presumedly drops of Illidan, the item was seen by the Magtheridon EU server, but Nihilum has so far said that it has not dropped for them.

I'm not sure it's a drop. First, what motive would there be to conceal the drop when others can link it?

Second, as Spinnaay @ mmo-champion suggests - this could be a quest reward. Atiesh, Thunderfury, Sulfuras were all quest rewards.

Finally if a player can observe a weapon which is a quest reward then they shouldn't be disconnected for linking it - so the server should allow it to be linked if it were a reward to a quest which on of the Nihilum members are eligable for!

I think that's the most likely way to acquire the blades. Perhaps both are crafted as part of the same quest chain. So the second blade will only be linkable when that quest is available... perhaps after the first one is finished!

On a general note, 109.3 dps, as well as the stats on the item are well below the budget of an ilvl 156 legendary, it is in fact budgeted as if it were an epic. I guess in this case the orange name is only to signify its importance.

can agree with that a bit. look at the top damage, a dagger rogue or fury warrior to witch this clearly belongs would drool on this. 398 top damage that's higher than any lvl 60 2h... and is comparable to a lvl 115(lvl 70) blue 2h... and uhm the 2 set bonuses are pretty awesome... could anybody tell me how much 450 haste rating becomes in %?

btw if you have a slow weapon then dps is often low, but i suppose you can compare this with a 115 dps dagger.

and i'm not sure if this is right, but the old one that was shown on thottbot/allakhazam had a fuse type, that was making the main and offhand smelt to gether to one overpowered 1h... so maybe that also possible.

one way or another this weapon should always be legendary or artifact.

and tbh the stats are overpowered but possible for a 156 epic item, with the set bonus it becomes really overpowered.

So far the stats have not been discovered for the offhand counterpart to this weapon, as trying to do so will disconnect you from the server. This is often the result of the loot-holder not yet being defeated on that specific server.

This could mean the offhand item-Id is incorrect, or the offhand drops from another boss (possibly Archimonde from Hyjal). Even though Archimonde was defeated on PTR, Blizzard could have left the weapon out until official release.

Only time will tell...

this item is used in some way in illidan's encounter (maybe given to Maiev as a proof of demise), probably looted from the "blades of azzinoth" monsters that spawns at some point.
it's become available for link on curse's server as well while they were advancing through the combat phases.

more information on this when nihilum or curse feel like giving spoilers on the fight, and that seems like a good explanation of why they did not talk at all about this.

There is most likely a certain requirement that needs to be filled in order for the drop to actually register to a member of the raid, somewhat like a quest item.
What it is I do not know, but I'm pretty sure the server registered the item as "dropping", but noone could see it.

I highly doubt an item like this would just "drop" anyway ;)

well, as stated before, this item is better labeled as "Epic" for it's qualities. But as it's one of the most well-known weapons, it's understandable to label it as "Legendary", though i belive it would be better off as an "Artifact" (red colour) due to it's great importance.

anyway, what suprised me here is that this was under the loottable of what i assume is illidan's. now why is'nt the other warglaive there too? was the loottable not containing all of the items he can drop or is there another, hidden boss holding the other glaive?

Wowhead doesn't know the loottables without user submission, so even if Illidan dropped this part, nobody can know if he drops the other as well unless someone actually loots it and submits the data to Wowhead as well.

ilvl statistics are an estimate of the actual level of the item, if it was a basic white item, as a rough description. An artifact with an ilvl of 100 for example, would be considered equivalent to an epic, or blue, with the same ilvl. If you look, the ilvl of this weapon, if quite some way above that of the ilvl of the tier 6, and I'd say that the large difference in DPS, and the set bonus, definately makes this a powerful weapon.

For those wondering whether or not this is available, a good indication that it exists for players to gain is the class requirement on it. There would be no reason to put that in unless they plan on letting players obtain it.

mmo-champoins found the explanation , curse is on illidan atm , they didn't kill him yet , but the MH warglave is linkable on they're realm (they are on a different battlegroup from nihilum ,so no cross-realm BG link was possible ) so its now safe to say that no one has the legendary sword yet :)

That's not entirely true. The iLvl and budgeting are determined by Blizzard, and the number is available to Addons in-game. It's not a player-created statistic, and it's not really an estimate of anything, either.

As said before I highly doubt that this item will just drop from killing Illidan especially since it is a Legendary item... All Legendary items pre-BC required a quest..Blizzard wouldnt just put a weapon like this to just drop of a boss no matter who the boss is.

Well keep in mind it isnt all about the dps the weapon have. I mean TF only got 53 dps 2 more then brutality blade but the procc made it unique. So if the procc rate on the two set bonus is ok those weapons are insane.

Per http://www.wowwiki.com/Blades_of_Azzinoth and other lore sources (namely the RPG books), it appears that this is one of the twin Blades of Azzinoth; weapons that Illidan looted from the corpse of the demon Azzinoth during the War of the Ancients. I highly doubt Archimonde or Hyjal relates to the other item.

I would think that the reason why you can link the weapon on the server is that Blizzard has already had it ready to go to players and are at the moment working on the quest they're gonna put in game for the swords.
They didn't thougt that Illidan would fall in front of players in such short time so they maybe said to themselves :
"What's wrong by putting the sword on the database, if they are gonna put as long as they did for KT or C'thun and that in the time they arrive in front of Illidan, the quest will be finished and put in game".
I might surely be wrong but it's just a theory that I had among many others.

109.3 DPS is pretty damn good, level 70 epics that are 2-hands range from 115-120 so 109.3 on a ONE HAND is pretty good, and that's why it's legendary. (it also looks really cool :)

No, The way the Blizzard Armory works prevents it from being shown, even if it had dropped for a player, the same reason why items like Tier 5 and similar are not viewable from the armory.

Nihilum commented it had not dropped but because of a step of the encounter they were able to find the item ID. He drops his sword and the NPC picks it up. Still speculation on how you come across these weapons.

The class limitation makes it appear as though the item will actaully be obtainable sometime in the future. However, look at all the previous epics. Thunderfury, Atiesh, Sulf all required multiple low drop rates in multiple instances, plus a large investment of gold, further quests to put all the pieces together, etc etc. I find it highly unlikely that this weapon simply has a very low drop rate off Illidan.

Concerning the "low stats for lvl 70 legendary" discussion:

The color of an item determines mainly its rarity, not the amount of stats it has.

Compare for example Sulfuras and Might of Menethil. Menethil has higher stats, even though its only epic, because it has a higher iLvl. Sulfuras has legendary quality because the amount of effort required to get this weapon is much larger. Therefore less players will be able to get legendary weapons than epics. You would need at least 8 weeks worth of Golemagg kills to get the ingots for sulfuras, whereas you could drop 8x Menethil in the same time. (I'm not saying that killing Kelthuzad is as easy as Ragnaros, but thats not the point here. If you got an instance on farm status, you can farm epics much faster than you can farm legendaries.)

However its true that a legendary will have a higher stats budget than an epic of the same iLvl.

As hunter myself and a damn good one if I may say so.This is a Rouge/Warrior weapon, I would'nt want this weapon as a hunter. Stats are nice but manly because it dosen't proc from range, also I would love being on ANY warrior/rouge's team who carry both Warglaive's. Keeps the aggro off me so I can misdirect, CRIT my ass off, drop aggro, crowd control if needed. In other words, buying me time to dig in my nasty ass bag of hunter trick, so I can better play my role as support . Now if http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18584 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=18583 were real. I would say Hunter all the way, like Blizz would ever show hunters that much love. I remember I heard Bilzz was going to give hunters 2 pets in BM tier. Hahahahaha, yeah right. Gratz to ANY Warrior or Rouge who obtain the glaive's.

Updated to reflect haste rating changes in patch 2.2:

Percent Haste Modifiers are multiplicative, and Haste Rating is summed then converted into a percent then multiplied by the other percent modifiers.

The general formula for determining new weapon speed is:

nws = ows / hm

Where:

nws = New Weapon Speed
ows = Old Weapon Speed
hm = Haste Modifier

And:

hm = (1 + (m1 / 100)) * (1 + (m2 / 100)) * ... *

Where:

m1, m2, ... are percent modifiers (Slice and Dice, Blade Flurry, Mongoose Proc, etc)
HR = Total Haste Rating
HRC = Haste Rating Conversion (at 70 this is 15.6 per +1%)

Example:

Slice and Dice (+30%) and Warglaive Set Proc (+450 rating) on the main hand Warglaive (2.8 speed):

ows = 2.8
m1 = 30% (Slice and Dice)
HR = 450
HRC = 15.6

hm = (1 + (30/100)) * (1 + ((450/15.8)/100)) ~ 1.68

nws = ows / hm = 2.8 / 1.68 ~ 1.67

So the main hand Warglaive goes from 2.8 to 1.67 (+67% attack speed) speed with Slice and Dice and the set proc.

If you had the Abacus bonus on as well then HR = (450 + 260), and performing the calculation again yields ~1.49 effective speed.

In the end, you can only say that it is a difference if you see a single item with its value or you see a set item. A set item always provides a set bonus and a set bonus is something you only acquire by wearing or wielding more than one item. If the set bonus is good, it maybe does not raise a single item's value, but it dramatically raises the value of the item combination and that's the deal.

can't agree more and 42% haste rating, is pretty legendary in my eye's wowhead says the proc is 100% but since nobody has it yet, we dont know for sure, but come on.. if it has a 10% proc, it would still be up for 90% of the time.

Given two similar items of the same iLvl, one epic and one legendary, the legendary will always have higher stats. The fact that legendaries are harder to come by is incidental. Items are given a certain budget by rarity (or color, if you prefer) and item level. It's as simple as that.

This is equally sueful for a rogue and fury warrior. Saying its better for one over the other is pure childishness.
"but i get more use because of the Ss damage" Is a common rogue argument i see. Look at it this way. Whilst your doing more with your SS with 450haste (41% attack speed increase from memory) stacked with 30% from flurry (perma flurry by this stage) thats a 71% attack speed boost for a fury watrrior. or, a full rage bar in 4 seconds. A warrior would get .8speed main hand pre abacus of violent odds or pre dragon spine trophy proc. thats a heroic strike every .8seconds which equates to a hell of alot of damage, mixed in witht he large damage whirlwinds and blood thirsts.
not to mention the White damage (main source of fury dps) a warrior could pump out with the hasted effect (.8main .5 OH) would be off the charts. In fact after the 10 second burn a back down of damage would probally be needed to reduce threat.

No matter what class this goes to, the damage would be off the charts. And to those who say "this goes to this class 1st!!!" your arguments are pointless since 3/4 of you probally wont ever get the oportunity to see the weapons anyhow.

haste rating does stack so if u have a d3 rogue asssination set equiped with slice and dice on and Abacus of Violent Odd and dragon spine trophy and this two blades on your attack speed would become retardedly low.. i used blackout truncheon with the d3 rogue set with slice and dice alone and my mainhand attack speed became 0.87 considering the haste from the mace , the rogue d3 set and slice and dice is on. I wonder what would happen with 2 haste trinkets , (Abacus of Violent Odds) (dragonspine trophy) , the twin blades and the assassination d3 rogue set on and everything proc while u use slice and dice, toss in mongoose enchant and blade flurry for combat sword rogue specced with windfury on the weapons AND berserking ... let the damage fly haha

I agree with all of that. If the weapons themselves were a drop from Illidan it would most likely be epic rather than legendary.

Like all the other legendaries, which were obtained from quests, or a low drop rate item that starts a quest, this item is "probably" a quest-attained item. From looking at the item, it seems to be from a quest. A quest that is warrior and rogue do-able obviously. I think it is similar to the Thunderfury quest. At first look you might be reminded of the Quel'Serrar Quest Chain, which was only used by Warriors and Paladins. Since this is a legendary i think it will be more of a "thunderfury" like chain if not like the Sulfuras or Atiesh chains. Who knows, Blizzard could do a new thing and make this a drop off of Illidan.

it is presumed that these drop from the deceiver himself but the stats where obtained via data-mining so there is no real way to confirm till a top guild has it as a recorded drop

This would go to a raiding Rogue first, because any high end raiding guild knows that haste is a Rogue's best stat (combat potency procs and white damage are what drive Rogue damage). Fury warriors have full rage bars all the time anyways.

Like you said, Warriors have no way of controlling their aggro, which could lead to bad things happening if they got tons of haste procs in a row and were spamming rage / white damage.

well, it's a loooooong time ago, that that necklace was a common loot, so i would call the warglaives the only regular non-quest-related legendary at the time. if you want to be a nitpicker, than it's really the 2nd :D (and 3rd, of course :>)

actually you're all wrong. It's the 3rd/4th. The 1st being the necklace, the 2nd being the phoenix mount off of KT.

You could even start going outside of the term "quest related" and say every weapon in the KT encounter as well. Also you could say the Stratholme weapon from the Atiesh quest chain. But again... thats going outside the boundaries.

Either way, its the 3rd/4th.

P.s. The necklace was not a "common loot". Only one person got it ever. The second it dropped it was immediately taken out, and the person who did recieve it was allowed to keep it.

You can almost be assured though that these will come from a legendary quest like all the other legendaries (that are worth a damn). The ilvl is pretty accurate seeing as you get twin 109.5 dps weapons with a straight up AP gain on demons and rather large haste proc. You also don't know how much that proc will go off, but knowing legendaries so far, it is likely to be high enough to keep the proc going after the first proc.

The haste rating makes comparisons stupid ... As for the speed of the weapon ... Best Main hand there is in Burning crusade if you only consider the "Speed" aspect (anyhow it's the best mainhand). What I deeply enjoy is "Warrior-Rogue" meaning stupid hunters or paladins can't roll on this (if your guild has gone this far you shouldn't have any of the two in your raids though ...). As a Hemo Rogue I am very sad to say this is the only weapon that is slower than 2.7 in entire wow (for lvl 70 ofc).

We really don't see much slow weapons anymore like in the oldies (remember the High Warlord's Blade @ 2,9 speed imba Hemo sword).

Nowerdays this is the one, and for most of the rogues impossible to get.

Demon hunters aren't actual hunters at all. They're 'hunters' in the same sense that a paladin hunts undead. They're more like a magical rogue, in a sense. They melee and become more demonic as they grow stronger. Illidan himself was more like a mage before everything else.

If they do ever bring the Demon Hunter class to WoW, you'll never touch a bow, come close to having a pet, or even track anything other than demons.

I can't pull up the armory to see him wielding both the main and the off hand, but one thing I find perculiar is that looking at the picture you posted with Furi holding them, and the item discriptions... Warriro / Rogue and Offhand are in red which would indicate whom ever pulled up the discriptions was not the wielder of the blades, and why is the set bonus not lit up?

As someone who has a hand of Ragnaros, I just want to say I do not think this weapon should be of Legendary (Orange) quality.
The Hand of Rag, Staff of Ateish, and the Thunderfury sword all take a tremendous amount of resources to create, which must be built up over a long period of time.

This, though a rare drop... is the weapon. This sword is like Hand of Rag dropping instead of the eye of sulfuras... But with other legendaries, you needed multiple, extremely rare items to drop (eye of sulfuras, 8 sulfuron ingots anyone?, not to mention another and a weaponsmith just to be able to craft it)............. this is just a drop. Nothing more to it then a random boss drop, just a lower drop rate.

Dunno, just stating my opinion, if it isnt diffucult to get, just a random boss drop and takes nothing to make it, no time invested to craft it, it shouldnt be a legendary.

Incorrect -- he was one of the Quel'Dorei (or high-born), i.e., a mage.

This is in reference to what looks like a now deleted claim that Illidain was a druid. I'm not at all refuting the fact that he's a melee fighter -- and looking at the ability sets, in the game he's more of a "fury warrior/destro lock" combination. Immolate comes from him initially, and he's the first truly bad-ass guy you see swinging two blades around.

The proc rate has been found to be roughly .75ppm or around 2% per swing and it has no internal cooldown. As stated above, the proc effect looks like activating Slice and Dice. Buff is called The Twin Blades of Azzinoth and it shares a buff icon with the Mark of the Illidari. Estimated AEP value of 300 and the general feeling is my damage has increased by about the same margin as having an extra (pre-nerf) Dragonspine Trophy.

The Warglaives themselves can drop without replacing Illidan's original loot seed, so to say, he can drop a weapon related item, a gear piece related item, the 2 chestpieces, and a warglaive, or even 2 glaives. For my guild, we've killed him 6 times, and out of those 3, we've gotten glaives, so were pretty lucky. =P

after several hundred runs on my rogue, I got both,
if anyone else manages to get both, do not advertise that you want enchants on them,
you will get spammed with tells from lowbies asking for runs through whatever instance,
in full tier 6 + these, nearly every mob is soloable, I can only imagine how a warrior feels weilding them

I have thought a lot about the class restriction of these warglaives. Understanding that warriors and rogues could use them, I still have the feeling that hunters should have been able to. If we think about Illidan as a survival hunter (we all remember "feign death" when Arthas' encounter, with this hypothese, of course) there shouldn't be much problem about it.

Sure it would be strange to see an enhancement shaman with the warglaives, but it's a possibility.

rogues out dps fury warriors on a daily basis. look at it this way, if a rogue could tank, he would probably be forced to tank. If you dont like what the guild needs then you wont go to the raid... But we rogues dont have that spec. So that leaves it to pallies and Warriors to tank (as yall are the only ones who can wear plate) also, a rogue could get much more dps output with these than a fury warrior. Im NOT saying that a warrior couldnt have these, just that priority should go to a rogue.

besides 2 legendary wpns are drops and even from the same boss (not created, Q reward after long chain or whatever, but drop ffs) they look awfull (like tbh most of the drops in outland, items are either copied with diferent colour or look totally ugly and not fiting in da game at all), not just couse of they removed pandas, but also couse they are too &*!@ing big, even for a tauren warrior for example. thunderfury used to be big but looks kinda normal, while those are too big and in same time too small for illidan.

I Heard of some rumors, that a guild on EU-Arthas got both glaives on a single Illidan kill.

We have killed Illidan 11 times by now, no Warglaive :(

This weapon should go to rogues before warriors because a competent warrior would never complete the set due to the 1.4 speed offhand, therefore not making full use of the stat allocation on this, which is mostly in the proc. Discuss.

Avitar, thats really dumb. A warrior can use a slow off-hand for fury. The only thing that really takes much affect is whirlwind. But at the cost of some damage your gaining rage a bit faster, which will counter into using other skills to regain that damage. So a warrior using the set would be completely viable to a rogue.

Some might have heard about the case of Zeuzo, a rogue on EU-Sylvanas from the guild Method who sold his account to another player for 7000 € (9,500$). Few days after the sale the account was banned. It's actually kind of sad that this weapon will end up being replaced by some easy to get epic out of a 10-man raid. Is there any official word on whether or not these will be upgradeable? Illidan apparently grew in power with them, you could safely assume that so could your character.

It's just a pity to see an item with real significance to the WoW universe's history ending up as a banked toy.

Actually I have a question, is it true that these will only drop once while in a guild? and you have to guild hop doing raids over and over just at a chance to get these? I'm on a non PvP server and I'm curious about this. I was told by a guy i met on Trollbane that this was the case. If so I think that's complete BS.

Anyways, Warglaives are crazy (and prob stay that way till level 74-75). I remember doing EoTS and met a premade match, saw a rogue with double Warglaives. Got Backstabbed for 4000 (With 16000 armor!). So yeah, don't want to play games with someone with double warglaives

Cool weapons(set), huge damage, even if the level is not as high as expected. Using it's 450 standard haste chance(43%haste)+blade flurry(20%)+slice and dice(35%)+meta socket(31% haste)+haste potion(40% :D)+ mongoose(2%) + personal (10%) + bloodlust( 30%) = 231% HASTE! AWESOME!

I wonder if Blizzard is going to change the itemization on the blades so that DKs can also use them now, since they are the third class that can dual wield swords. Plus, it's far enough into the the DK play time that it would make it a worthy weapon to try and grab.

I've been farming these bad boys for 5 1/2 months in WotLK. Started back in Early January, got my Off-Hand to start within the first month (5%-6% drop rate). Then the (Main-Hand 4% drop rate) many many months later, after week in and week out farming never missing a single lockout. Working my butt off I started up my own groups (trying to advoid the people I knew would mess it up, which is a problem in it's own) and *Reserved them* for the around 23 downings on this Half-Nelf SoB. Was very determained and got them with time, always had a fast heart beat when it was time to loot him for that split second, looking for the Orange at the top of the loot table mainly expecting to see just purple. Long strung out journey, and supposedly 5-6 months is pretty quick I hear..so...yah. Although Illidan might not be too hard to kill in WotLK (Easier than IC) you might still find it challenging if you want his duel blades and should be ready to kill him week in and week out to get them, unless you get extremely lucky. For those curious in all the roughly atleast 23 killings my groups and I achieved we only saw the 2 drop that I obtained. Could have easily been another Off-Hand for the 2nd one, because of the higher drop rate, and It's just commonly known the MH is Rarer than the OH. But in my case to a suprise it was a Main-Hand. Anyways that's my journey/statistics, GL to other farmers out there, as I know there are not many of them, but some. With time he definetly becomes an easier fight as you and your friends strive into more of the Ulduar gear. If anyone is wondering you will definetly draw some attention while in Org.

Edit - Well Ciel...you're quite the Idiot to say the least..if you've played the game enough in Burning Crusade anyone would know, by all means the Off-Hand has a higher chance percentage to drop over His Main Hand Warglaive, (go on ahead and ask your realm's higher up raiding guilds from those times, if you're not in one. Don't go all stupid on yourself just by reading off from what the this site says. They did not change it so DKs can use these, it is still only Rogue, Warrior.
Just so you know. Also I doubt that they will change the itemization so DKs could use it, they may have changed it so DKs can use Thunderfury, although I doubt they will do the same for the Warglaives.

Update: Well... apparently Blizzard didn't share my views on the subject. The Warglaives have now been updated to allow Death-knights to use this weapon.

I'm pretty sure all the screenshots I've seen have had either Mongoose or nothing on 'em. Mongoose looks pretty good but has anyone tried others? I was lucky enough and got both glaives in 1 day. The same day i got level 70 too.
First got off-hand before reset, then after reset main-hand.

There's armory. Check achievments for level 70 and glaives. :)

Just got my second glaive on my DK. Really happy. Not quite sure if the drop rate has changed or anything, though seeing the guild achievement Warglaives of Azzinoth - Guild Edition was nice. You still need to be honored with your guild to get it I do believe, so you can just hop guild to guild giving them the achievement!

I got very lucky and after offhand last week we went to BT again and this time mainhand dropped. I have never chance to get them in BC because all the rogues in guild and fact I was arms warrior so this felt a bit satisfying. I tried them a bit in heroics with guildies and I wasn't ashamed when I seen recount. Maybe I will be after upcoming howling blast nerf :P On boss dummy I ended with 12k dps after few tests which is not bad also.

Imho, gnomes should not be allowed to use this weapon. Why? they would be pole vaulted trying to swing it. Look in screenshots. there is a Gnome wearing them and they are taller than her.

I don't see anything wrong with death knights being added to the list of classes that can use these. After all, it's two whole expansions after The Burning Crusade, so only two types of people are going to want these anyways. One being weapon collectors, which these are a beautiful addition to any collection. And the other being level 70 twinks.

The only way that a dk is going to get away with successfully using these is oddly as unholy spec. The reason is because Threat of Thassarian favors a slow offhand. As for unholy, dual-wielding doesn't really cut their damage output and the haste proc would be incredible for Sudden Doom procs.

Warriors, on the other hand, shouldn't get caught dead twinking with these because, like frost dks, Single-Minded Fury favors a slow offhand.

Nonetheless, these are still designed wholeheartedly for rogues specifically. And now with Ambush being able to be used with any weapon and not just daggers, these have suddenly become the top of every subtlety rogue's wish list. Any warriors or dks using these weapons aren't making full use of the itemization on them.

They. Will. Always. Be. Rogue. Weapons.

Edit: To all those who may down-rate me, the information that I posted is concerning level 70 twinks. As for weapon collectors, who cares if they have these?

No man, drops variate some people find harder getting The OH more than the MH and vice versa.It's just all about luck , one sword doesn't have higher drop than the other they are equal as I said it before IT'S ALL ABOUT LUCK.

You sir, are wrong. Now that you actually look at the Wowhead statistics for the drop rate, they backup the fact that the main hand has a lower drop rate than the off hand.

I just got them On my Death Knight If you wanna make it simple all you really need is a dps and a pref healer with a Rdps spec i was Blood/frost we only had issues getting to illidan because of the Souls Boss Just dont give up and you will get them aswell:)

took me ~45 runs to complete my set, saw 2 MHs and 1 OH. cleared BT on and off since LK release. at 80 i actually did full 25 man runs, just trade chat pugs. once cata hit we did it with 5-10, then once we got our heroic gear we started doing it with 5 or less 85s and some alt twinks

Was just running some guild lowbies through Black Temple. It was an absolutely incredible feeling to see this drop. Sadly, our only warrior was an 84, and our ownly dk was an 85. There were no rogues in the group whatsoever. Kind of a tragedy if you ask me. But wow. Nothing like feeling your heart stop when you see that orange text.

I have a full T6 tank warrior with the shield that drops from illidan and I'm farming for the MH wargliave then OH for fury dps it's a lot moe fun downing BT as a whole weekly as an all 70 raid.. It actually takes skill.. Instead of all those super geared, super bad twinks out there.

As of 4.3, transmogrification allows you to switch skins of weapons and armor if you have both item you want to reskin, and item that you want skin from.
I got a feeling we are going to see a lot more shadowmournes and warglaives after 4.3 drops, as ilvl 370+ 85 toons can almost solo illidan regardless of class, and take the prizes.
Only thing left to see, is if you can reskin different types of weapons in between, as that way shamans can run around with dual maces that are disguised as warglaives.

Last I checked, it was still a 4-5% drop rate. No reason as to why Blizzard would randomly change the drop rate on an old legendary.

That being said, 3 runs and 3 MH drops. Giving to an 85 rogue, 85 warrior, and my 82 rogue.
RNG is RNG though

Wow, I just got the main hand tonight on my dwarf rogue on his second run. Crazy luck. Not sure but I think I'm probably the only dwarf on my server with one haha, or at least the only one I've seen. Time to farm that off hand now.

To all of wondering why some twink DK's have a warglaive equipped:

The posts above which mention that these weapons are bad for DK's because of the fast off-hand is partially correct.
You do NOT want to equip the off-hand version of this weapon. It's way too fast for a DK. However, because of the way obliterate and frost strike work, it is highly useful to have the main hand warglaive and use it. This is because it's a slow weapon with a high top end damage. Using this and Muramasa is probably the best setup, but this and one of the T6 one handers will work just as well. The T6 one hander has 50 attack power, whereas Muramasa has none. The reason Muramasa is worth using is because it too has a higher top end damage.

TL;DR: The setup below is acceptable and maybe even preferable for a DW Frost DK because of the weapon speed(s) and top end damage. People don't just use them because they're glaives, they use them because they hit damn hard.

When i Got my Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker and my Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros i noticed that i got the guild Achievment before the actual feat of strength achievment (which i got when i equipped them)
I think it's very important to know that if noone in the raid can use the glaives or any other legendary simply raidroll them because the guild the character is in will earn the guild achievment for the legendary weapon if the character is at the required reputation level with the guild.

just thought ide mention somthing, there is a 100% way to tell if a glaive has dropped before ANYONE loots illidan (ive confirmed this with 3 glaives dropped). when illidan dies his glaives are a standard size, BUT when he dies a a glaive is in the loot table his personal glaives that he uses through-out the fight will actually shrink to character scale until said item is loot and removed from his corpse. just thought people mite enjoy this bit of information so they no when one drops before anyone even loots it =)

IN WC3, ILLIDAN'S GLAIVES HAD PANDA PAWS ON THEM. wiki proves it, The pandaren are originally from central Kalimdor where they established the Pandaren Empire. They were allies of the night elves until they saw their obsession with magic getting out of control.

That was of course before the Sundering occurred , after which they fell into slavery of the Mogu. That also explains why Night Elf and Pandaren structures are quite similar. I hope there will be a Caverns of Time instance for this portion of lore, I would love to experience it.

Between TBC and MoP I can't even count the number of times I ran BT. I'd peg it around 100 clears between a few different characters. I never saw a single glaive.

This week I had both MH/OH drop within 2 days of each other (Sunday and Tuesday) while soloing on the DK.

I'm fairly sure that the drop rate has been changed couple times over time. In BC era on crowded realms (20k+) seeing a player wielding the TWO warglaives was kind of an eye candy.

I think I remember the wowhead page saying something like: 0.4 (1 every 250 runs) or even worse 0.04% (1 every 2500) now a plain 5% (which is a lot, 1 every 20 runs) and players can enter BT to kill Illidan only 52 times a year. I'm not 100% sure about my memories about the drop rates back then but if I'm right players can have an idea of how difficult was the drop of these glaives back then.

Cleared BT many times with a group on my mage and never seen either Glaive drop - after 5.1 decided to farm on my DK and main-hand dropped on my 3rd clear - couldn't believe it! :D

3 weekly clears later and the OH dropped. :)

Blizz Item Developer One: Okay, we've finished Warglaives of Azzinoth, they're one-handed swords that are dual-wielded, with Agi, Stam and Hit Rating, so obviously they're only gonna be for warriors and rogues.

Blizz Item Developer Two: Well, those are excellent stats for hunters. They use Agi, everyone needs Stam, and they're big on Hit Rating. Plus they can dual-wield one-hand swords. They're gonna want to roll on them too, you know.

Blizz Item Developer One: ...Oh, right. Well, we can just class-exclude them, so problem solved.

Blizz Item Developer Two: But what about that new bow that's being worked on? Um, "Thorny Dal", or whatever-it's-called?

Blizz Item Developer Two: That one's not being class-excluded from all other classes other than hunters...

Blizz Item Developer One: Yeah, so?

Blizz Item Developer Two: Well, warriors and rogues can use ranged weapons too, so they'll be able to roll on the bow if it drops. So that means they can use the swords and the legendary bow at the same time, while hunters can't use swords that are good for them, and their legendary can be used by the two classes that are not excluded from the swords? Someone's going to figure that out eventually...

I think I'm lucky or Illidan felt in love with me :)

I decided to get this for my monk, because I always loved the look of this sword set, however I've never had any character that could wear it.

On Tuesday before the weekly reset I went to BT and soloed it and got the off-hand. I thought it will be months until I'll get the main hand sword. Next day after reset I went down again and got a big surprise from Illidan... The main hand warglaive.

2 runs and got both. I think I could be luckier only if both drop on first run.

I hope you who still farming this or willing to farm it have the same luck as I had.

Got the MH one this afternoon while boosting a level 70 hunter friend. BT is deffinantly soloable by level 90s with about ilvl 466 or atleast by arms warriors with second wind. Although illidan was a bit tricky the rest of the bosses fell easy enough so you could do it with a lower ilvl if you tried!

I just got mine today after 36 kills, the first kill I ever had of Illidan was in cata, random group and I won the offhand almost 2 years go. Quit for a while and came back, in the process of trying to get the main hand I saw one other off hand drop but I finally got my set completed today.

I gotta post here to be honest. Perhaps it'll increase my ''luck'' even more.

Heres the story. DK has MH glaive, warrior has OH glaive. Since they obtained both of these glaives, my DK has seen 2 more MHs in 35 runs and my warrior has seen 5 more OH glaives in 24 runs.

So here I am, a guy with 9 Warglaive drops and still no FoS.

This reset I got both Glaives to drop again, but of course, the wrong ones, on both characters.

I even made a ticket about it, explaining my story to the GM. Sadly, all he could say was that RNG is in fact RNG. I guess he's right, but sometimes RNG can be a proper @#$%ing %^&*!. Warglaive and Fiery Warhorse Reins (over 500 tries), oh how I loathe thee.

Haza, 27 runs and my 70 rogue got the MH had the OH from run one but been so long getting this one. Been solo everything with my war and bring in rogue just for illidan. I give the best of luck to everyone still farming just remember it will never drop unless you go and farm it.

The most important question about these weapons: What's the best position to show them off? Naturally when I'm in cities @#$%ing around with my interface or waiting on a queue, I like to pull these out. They look a little silly crossed on your back, so I unsheathe them. Still, there's a bit of a lack of...energy, of verve, with them just hanging limply at the ends of your arms. What I really want is to do the classic Demon Hunter crouch with them, one held in front and the other at my side. As a rogue, I can actually accomplish this by going into stealth, but then nobody can see how awesome I am! Is there any other way to strike such a pose?

Imo all legendarys should work like a heirloom 1-90, since its so hard to obtain, with exception of cloak. Maybe that one unlocks after WOD launches so it can be sent to other toons.

Strange fact:After 6.0.2,pre-WoD,my rogue named ''Berkeakay'' on Sylvanas EU server,dropped the main hand glaive in my 3rd try.After equipping the main hand,I noticed that my damage was increased to 1.7k from 1.5k(I was equipping two Hellscream's Razor,one is heroic and one is normal).After i tried my dps on the dummies:13k max dps with the Glaive on,7k with both daggers equipped and i was Sub spec.I really dont know the exact reason of this but it probably has to do something with the stat squish.

I think I'm going insane right now. Some time ago, the Main Hand dropped and in the next week it dropped again. I was pissed but thought that the Off Hand would drop sooner or later. Well, I just killed Illidan again and guess what? THE GODDANM MAIN HAND DROPPED AGAIN. Someone please help me, I'm going to explode any second now because of anger.

Not sure if the drop rate has increased on these but I've dropped them almost every week for the last couple of months, even brought a friend who needed them on his twink and they dropped. Just wish you could mog them :(

55 Illidan kills according to my armory and still yet to see a main hand drop. More than a year's worth of solid raiding there. Well beyond that raid's actual life cycle in game. Bad luck I guess. Three off hands have dropped in that time though, two of which just rotted on the corpse.

Well, I´m still looking to complete my first set of warglaives after month/years of killing good old Illidan.

My warrior has one, my dk has one and my monk has one and I will probably run bt until they all have their set but for the time being just one set for the feat of strength would be more then enough.

Until then my 3 chars have to settle for dual wielding their one glaive with thunderfury which is just slightly worse.

It's known that you can equip them and fight with them whilst going through Timewalking dungeons, and I believe that they increase the damage you deal in such a dungeon as scaled down they are still legendary.

After 16 months of farming I can finally go through the Timewalking dungeons with both warglaives now equipped.

Keep at it, because who knows if they will still available after the next expansion.

These really should give attack power instead of agility, so that they are of some use to Death Knights and Warriors, who the very things say that they are meant for as well as the agility-lings.

Also, why are they such low resolution in comparison with the other Black Temple items? Mine looks stupid next to the Shard of Azzinoth, which belongs to the concept and is only two bosses apart. Is it to tantalize people that only have one, because you cannot find another one handed weapon with as low resolution as the glaive you have?

My first Illidan kill with my Paladin I got this. Then I realised that even though it is classified as a sword it is locked to other melee classes! I can't learn the transmog. :(

I have not seen many comments about this but,
demon hunters + warglaives + Burning Crusade Time-walking dungeons = fun times. Can't wait!
Now if only they would update its texture, but not change it. That would be even more epic.

P.S. I hope this halloween we get an exquisite costume of Illidan Stormrage, like we have for Arthas {Lich King} and Neltharion {Deathwing} Just some wishful thinking.

Did Black Temple last night just before reset, and the main hand dropped. Did it again today, and the off-hand dropped. So I can confirm they both still drop after 7.0.3 (Though I don't know why anyone would really think they wouldn't). Also, I either got very lucky, or it's possible the drop rate was increased.

Edit: Now with the timewalking version of the Black Temple, the excuse appears to be that we went there to fix a time disturbance... so lets just pretend it's the same reason when we do the instance on regular mode. :D

Sadly, this does not get added to appearances tab, not as a sword or as a glaive. Which, unfortunately, means that you can't mog your fancy shmancy artifact weapons to look like this beauty.

Well, today was a bit lucky.

I was on my dh, finishing the invasions and got bored
So I ran through ICC for the first time on my dh to try my luck for invincible. Somehow I got it, and that made my day better instantly.
A few hours later of being bored in SW I wondered if dh's could wield the warglaives (If they couldn't then wtf) and someone told me they could. So obviously I went down to Black Temple to test my luck even more today and I got this, the main hand. Bear in mind it was my first try on my dh in ICC and BT in which I got both of these, when I've been trying to get them for years.
Just baffles me that this can happen, anyway you guys might not care but I'm just happy that it happened.

it cant be transmogged.

Are people other than DH's getting these babies to drop? I did BT, in back to back weeks and got both the main and offhand to drop as a DH. I can't remember the spec I was in the first week I got the main hand to drop, but the second week I was a Vengence Dh with the artifact weapons and got the offhand to drop.

Dropped on my Priest after 2-3 runs while grinding Rep
Saving it anyway, maybe one day Priests will be able to equip Swords.

P.s Best method is to run with a DH and skip with the stairs, make it so much faster...
youtube has some examples.

Edit: Got both on my DH, the right hand dropped after 2 tries i think, the left hand took about 7-8 runs...(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Thulm##DELIM##

Demon Hunters can now equip these, thankfully!

A new transmog item "set" token is being added in patch 7.2.5, unlocking this weapon transmog appearance for Demon Hunters.

A completed set of the original warglaives (and the achievement granted by wielding it) will be required to obtain this transmog item set; once you've unlocked said achievement, your next Illidan kill during the timewalking event (not original Illidan, only the timewalking version) will have a 100% to grant the item set appearance if done on your Demon Hunter. Better get to farming out a glaive set if you haven't already!

As of patch 7.2.5 only Demon hunters can transmog them. you need to kill Illidan weilding both your Main hand and Off hand warglaives, which will unlock the achievement to xmog them. good luck farming.

Keep farming Warglaives of Azzinoth on any character, so your Demon Hunter unlocks the Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth transmog when any character clears Timewalking Black Temple.

I don't know if it made a difference to the loot tables, but I went to the Black Temple with the off-hand Warglaive of Azzinoth in my bag. Looted this main hand off Illidan at 23:10 Pacific time. Still a shame we can't transmog these classic legendaries.

Demon hunters can transmog them, but you need an achievement Warglaives of Azzinoth first and then complete achievement I'll Hold These For You Until You Get Out.
