The reason Illidan uses such a headband is because of the gift he recieved from Sargeras himself before promising to retrieve the Demon (dragon) Soul from Deathwing. Prior to his gift he had he had golden eyes which indicated a great destiny lied ahead of him. That was naturally before his eys were literally carved out.

Actually, Illidan had the normal silver eyes. It was Illidan's brother, Malfurion that had the amber eyes. I forget which book, but do remember this being mentioned in the War of the Ancients Trilogy.

Sorry for having to correct the few mistakes I saw. Demon hunters ritualy have their eyes not carved but burned out. There is no real purpose to this. Illidan received from Sargeras dark orbs allowing him to see demons far better. He also received runed tatoos with magical powers. All other demon hunters are basically skilled warriors... but nothing more

As for Illidan's Blindness, correct, sargeras did cause it. He shot two beams through the pool of the well of eternity. This caused illidan's blindness, and also made the tattoos in his body.

The "spectral sight" is RED meaning you can edit it because the information is not certain and may be false.

And when you quote.. please quote the entire thing. And if you took time to read the Race & Initiation part of the demon hunter you would know they have their eyes blinded out for this reason : "The rituals involve capturing a demon and sacrificing it to bind a portion of it to his soul. They blind their eyes to SEAL the demons inside of them nothing more." And they are just skilled warriors. The blades come from the fact that the demon they must capture often carry this kind of blade.
People please underate this because it doesn't have all that much to do with the item which is what should be discussed

gawd stop this correcting, lets talk about stats, this is a pure rogue item, i think a rogue should get this over a druid, not only because druids should get something else with int, and because of the lore, was illidan a druid? i think not. anyway this is pretty good and will replace wtv you have, and if your lucky to get both of the swords and this headband, i think you should demand blizzard to change your name to ubercoolnes, "i think thats a nice name this those items" goodluck getting it thoguh ive only heard of three guilds that went in and alrdy killed illidan....

Now this piece is taken directly from my War of the Ancients - The Well of Eternity:

"What did you see?" his brother, seated beside him on the grass, asked eargerly. Illidan would have been identical to Malfurion if not for his midnight blue hair and amber eyes. Imo,better than the rogue t6 or druid t6 for feral. for rogue,it gives +18 ap 10 crit rating 6 hit rating,but if u need the stamina/agility its better. Its better then druid t6 because it actually gives you ap/crit/hit rating not to sure you would see a hunter/shammy wearing it but i would on my hunter just cuz it makes me look 1000000000000 times cooler :P

Concerning Illidans eyes, it is correct that they were amber, it is correct that they were taken away by Sargeras as both a gift and a taste of power should Illidan seek to doublecross him as he did intend to. He wasen't granted dark orbs, just deep crevices that had green flames in them.
Now concerning the meaning of the amber eyes themselves, it is the Night Elves that belived they were a mark of great destiny and were at fault at this, there is a passage about it in the books concerning the War of the Ancients. Amber eyes were in fact signs of a very strong drudidc prowess. So if Illidan hadn't disregared the teachings of Cenarius and was half as dedicated to them as his brother he would probably come out the more powerful one.

As for this item....it's ridicilous, in the best possible sense!

This is also the best hunter helm available in the game at the moment, DPS wise.

Could be compared to T6 if it where for the 4-set bonus, but it's generally prefered to get the other 4 T6 and then this helm.

The same holds true for enhancement shaman - the mail helm from council is not as good as the Cursed Vision for dps. And our t6 is, of course, a joke.

It's On Use seems to be a bit buggy though in that Track Demons turns off every time you zone. The item has a 10minute cooldown to use too.

Fully buffed and roughly fully t6 equipped hunter with 4 set t6 bonus will gain 40-45 dps over t6 helm with this if you are missing some hit. Insane helm and cool looking too.

This is also the best Fury Warrior hat. It destroys the T6 and is better than the plate helm from the Council.

I believe its probably the best hat for Enh Shaman as well and a Hunter with the other 4 T6 pieces would also probably consider this his best option for a hat.

i know youd all hate to see this but this is rediculously amazing for a ret palli to... of course there the last ones to get it but damn... ne class that can use this should want it... lore wise and godlike stat wise. hunters,rogues, fury warriors, enhancement shami and yes even ret pallies... such is to be expected from the betrayer, one of the greatest melee warriors in warcraft lore.

Just got this badboy on my druid, it's awesome, easily the best headpiece both for Cat Form and for threat generation in Dire Bear Form. With Blessing of Kings, Heart of the Wild & Survival of the Fittest, it gives a grand total of:

cat: 174 ap
bear: 108 ap
3.72 % crit
1.65 % hit
3.39 % dodge
bear: 736 hp
cat: 589 hp

Not to mention it looks pro on a male tauren :P

I cant help but laugh a little bit when i look at the "Use" on this item...it seems that blizz may have finally (accidentally) nerfed locks a little bit XD...nothing too noticable but all the same...pop the icon and you have a little demon tracker and wat does every good warlock have sitting at their sides at all times?...a demon, if u run acrossed one that doesn't, they deserve to get off'ed anyways, just thought that was a bit humerous

2.4.2 PTR patch notes:
The Cursed Vision of Sargeras now gives the buff, “Sense Demons” which can be canceled normally. Additionally hunters and druids are able to track two things at once while using the item.

Actually ANY type of Demonhunter in or out of wow carved out there eyes. In the Middle-ages people that thought of themself as demonhunters carved out there eyes, of course they didn't have golden eyes like Illidan seems do have had.

Vish Kozus appears to be a night elf Demon Hunter. He is wearing 7/8 Bloodfang (rogue Tier 2) with his scarlet blindfold. Vish oddly carries two rather nondescript swords with models similar to the low-level Cruel Barb.
Loramus Thalipedes is off the coast of Azshara on a small island with a cave. Loramus has a blindfold, various pieces of non-acquirable armor and 2 glaives, all in a scarlet or red motif. He is guarded by 3 named felhounds.

Both are friendly to both factions.

I'm surprised noone mentioned it's bugged appearance on night elf characters yet.

When worn on a night elf, their eyes glow will clip through the visions texture, creating an ugly visual error.

This bug is known for at least half a year, yet no official comment whatsoever if it'll ever get fixed.

No, it is a bug. If you've ever actually seen it, you would know why. As Hmmz said, the glow doesn't just show through the blindfold, it *clips* awfully on it. You can see the eye glow, but only a little bit, often in just one eye, and it looks quite amatuerish. You can see this effect in one of the user-posted screenshots here on a female Nelf.

Illidan's eyes weren't carved out, they were burned out by Sargeras, and two green flames was all that was left in his eyesockets. that is what the cursed vision really is. the headband is to cover up the scars and stuff.

Easter Egg!

If you go into the Well of Eternity level 85 heroic 5-man, with this equipped (NOT transmogrified!), and toggle it's on-use effect on, then you can see a bunch of Well of Eternity Stalkers flitting about the Courtyard where you fight Peroth'arn. They are invisible, and cannot be targeted, but the Cursed Vison lets you see them on the mini-map as non-aggressive demons.

Cursed Vision appears to be bright red on both Orcs and Goblins as of 6.0.2 pre-patch.
It still shows up as black on Tauren. Haven't tested it with other races.

This appears to affect certain races, as Tauren still show it as black, while Orcs and Goblins display it as red.
I haven't had a chance to test it on any other races, but hopefully this is a bug and not an intentional change.

Not all Rogues wear eye patches because they lost an eye. Some of us wear one because it reduces the chances of poking out an eye by 50%. That reasoning makes this blindfold a solid insurance investment at a 100% chance of never poking out an eye.

...However, the cost of your sight gives you a 100% increased chance of walking off a cliff to your death.

Illidan's blindfold had originally been given to him by Lady Vashj after he received the gift of Sargeras; presumably having his eyes burned out had been so intensely painful that he passed out, and Vashj took advantage of the situation to give him a sponge bath (this is actually canon). She also gave him his blindfold at that time.

Had 3 Warglaive of Azzinoth drop while trying to get Cursed Vision of Sargeras, i was happy to get 2 Warglaives but getting my 3rd 5% Warglaive drop before i get my 17% drop Cursed Vision of Sargeras is ridiculous.

In Legion, there will be a new legendary - Raddon's Cascading Eyes - that will have a blindfold model. It will be exclusively available to Demon Hunter, and will drop only for Havoc spec.

That will bring the grand total of blindfold items in-game to 2!

Below is a list of the new helms coming in Legion that will share the Demon tracking ability of Cursed Vision of Sargeras. To reiterate, they DO NOT share an model with Cursed Vision of Sargeras, just the effect. They are all item level 840.

You can also use this item to detect Dread Infiltrators, during the Dark Whispers event!

That use effect is new, if you haven't played in a while and sold it due to the new transmog System with legion, you'll bite your ass. Great, had it in my Bank since BC and now they change it, add a usefull effect dir the pre event and don't mention it

If you are thinking of using this along with the ''no blindfold'' option in character creation for Demon Hunters... yeah don't. The ''glowing eyes'' effect bleeds through the blindfold and up the forehead. Grab the link from here or open up the book in game to see for yourself.

And if you already have a blindfold, these will clip through them and make it look really terrible.
