Its a Random world drop, Great Enchant for paladin (healadin as they spam heals)
this thing procc alot 3% may not seem that much but its quite high to regen that much over so short time

Exsample : say for a priest that get this effekt
10MP/1 each sec is 20Mp/2 that is around 80spirit for a priest that started to regen while not casting as 4spirit is 1 mana per 2sec when not casting
For other casters that get this effekt it might be even better as priest has the best natural regen with spirit
And its for your whole group

It does stack. But it stacks as seperate buffs, not as a "number" stacked buff, ala the old Zandalarian Hero Charm. But it seems that it only stacks if several members of your group has this enchant. I was in a group with 3 others who had it, and at various points had 3 Spellsurge buffs going. Meaning that it almost assuredly has an internal cooldown.

So I guess it's the 6th possibility ;)

Has anyone tested this to see if steady shot infact makes this procs?

Heres a zany question too. Since moonkin aura applies to my poison application..... would this possibly go off when a poison is applied or "cast"? Granted the proc rate would be lower because poisons don't go off every hit unless applied with shiv. But ya, I wonder....

The procc is approx 100 mana every 33rd cast ~= 3 mana / cast
Depending on castspeed this will be (assuming you spam that one heal all the time):
1.5 sec cast = 10 mp5
2.0 sec cast = 7.5 mp5
2.5 sec cast = 6 mp5
3.0 sec cast = 5 mp5
Multiply by 5 to show how much your group would gain on it in total.

A priest spamming greater heals (with 5/5 divine fury) without interruption would statisticly provide its party with roughly 30 mp5 all together. 30mp5 > +81 healing for sure even if the individual bonus is a downgrade - 81healing for 6 mp5. This is a raid-enchant. But since it's relying on procc aswell as considering the fact that you hardly ever spamm-cast a whole fight it's prolly less than 30 mp5 unless you're lucky with proccs. Depending on fight I'd say about 15-20 mp5 to your party with a 2.5 sec cast heal.

Some info about several players in the same party using this enchant:
Others proccs will stack with yours but however your procc will stack with itself or not is yet not confirmed.

From what I've read the procc is based on amounts of targets healed, thereby making prayer of healing and circle of healing count as five spells assuming everyone in the party is in range of the heal. Chainheal and tranquility has a higher chance of proccing this buff aswell.

Is there any information about proccs from hot-ticks, earth-shield or prayer of mending-jumps? Reading from the tooltip it says ON SPELLCAST, unclear if the multiple-target thing is a bug that will be fixed or if the tooltip is just simply wrong. I can be the one misunderstanding it too I guess.

Does it proc drop Damage On Time spells or Chanelled spells? I've heard so, though I can't be sure.

As a shadow priest, with my two dots and the Mind Flay, I'm doing damage every seconds, well, 5 tick in 3 seconds. If the enchant would proc on dots or chanelled spells, then it would be thrice a minute in average (I get 100 tick per minute, so 3% would make it proc about 3 time a minute) making it quite interesting for a shadow priest.

However, many procs that gives mana like the Hellfire trinket don't proc on dots so I'm not sure at all.

Wait... what *exactly* does http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27997 <-- this mean? Does it really mean that the tooltip is wrong as Zyrexana stated? Thotbott has the same thing on their page. I would assume the tooltip would be more accurate, but I could be wrong, =p

Aight, SO I'm a chanter. Im farming for this pat off the tinkerers when after awhile i go back on wowhead and click the link to tinkerers to see that it's list doesnt have Spell surge in it. I go to Thottbot and it gives me COMPLETLY diff info. Is it just a world drop and just has a chance to drop off anyone near that lvl, or is there actually specific mobs it drops off of? Im confuzed. IT says in Thottbot to kill enslaved netherwig dragons over there in SHadowmoon, think I should?

as of patch 2.1 they changed the way spellsurge works. instead of getting 50 mana every 5 seconds, u now get 10 mana every tick for 10 seconds.

Cold hard facts - this is how Spellsurge works;

Any time you cast a spell (this is any ability that considered a "spell" by the game, so auras, seals, judgement, totems, buffs, shields, heals, etc) you have a 15% chance to activate the Spellsurge buff for your entire group within 40 yards. The Spellsurge buff lasts for ten seconds and grants ten mana every second to everyone in the group (total of 500 mana with five mana users). This proc CANNOT OCCUR more than once every 30 seconds by the same caster - however it can occur more often in the same group if multiple casters are using the enchant.

The internal cooldown of this enchant is indeed around 50 seconds. After trying it out for about an hour it always procced around the same time every minute, sometimes after 90 seconds since the previous procc sometimes 55 seconds.

But never before 50 seconds had passed since the previous procc.

So lets suggest that it proccs nicely once every minute, thats roughly a 8 mp5 enchant. A more reasonable number might be 5-6 mp5. Which is not bad, but tbh its not really awesome.

Perhaps would be nice on some extremely long fights where every possible means of mana regen must be exploited. In that case most in group must have the enchant, otherwise there is no way I will choose this over 81 healing on my main healing weapon.

You could ofc switch weapon every minute until the spellsurge proccs and then switch back to your main healing weapon, but tbh who has the energy to do that?

Summary: Spellsurge appears to have been changed in the last patch to a 50 second cool down and a 10% proc rate. The data is below.

Data I took today while continuous spamming HL11 or FoL1 (basically kept mana at 50%ish.):

It looks to me like the cool down is 50 seconds. If I wait 1 minute after a proc and then spam cast I proc again after this many spells:

4, 2, 5, 8, 18, 2, 14, 9, 5, 9, 4, 11, 1, 11, 5, 1, 3, 5, 16, 12, 17, 5, 4, 4, 7, 6, 4, 2, 6, 15

This averages to a proc every 7.17 casts for a sample size of 30. If my statistics are right (and I'm really, really rusty), that means the proc rate is 9.2%. Depending on where you slice the data I believe the proc rate with enough samples will come out to 10%.

If you translate this into Mp5 it looks like this:

Spellsurge:

Proc rate is 10%, Cool down 50 sec

Assume casting of HL roughly every 4-5 seconds (matches my experience in Karazhan)

To get a 50% chance of proccing you need 7 trys (0.9)^7 = 0.48

This means that you should proc on average after 7 trys which on average takes 28-35 seconds.

Add in the 50 second cool down and you should proc every 78-85 seconds (I chose 80 sec)

Assuming a 6 minute fight it procs on average at:

30 sec into the fight
110 sec into the fight
190 sec into the fight
270 sec into the fight
350 sec into the fight

So in a 6 minute fight you get 5 procs for a total of 500 mana back.

To find the Mp5 equivalent I just divided 500 / 360 * 5 = 6.94 Mp5 per mana user in the party

Seem reasonable? Now you can pick any length fight and get a Mp5 equivalent. Basically it varies from 5.6 - 7.4 Mp5 per mana user in the party.

Has anyone else experimented with spellsurge after the patch. If so can you share the data?

Can swapping between multiple weapons proc this from each weapon on individual cooldowns ?

I have this on my Lights Justice atm, with an unenchanted Shard of the Virtuous sitting around in my bag that I use in arena's for the extra stam.

Anybody know ?

Question for the Paladins out there: Does this proc off of ordinary seal hits?

I suspect that it procs from any spellcast, including creating a seal, but can it proc from the actual damage caused by an autoattack hit with e.g. Seal of Righteousness active?

What about changing auras?

It does not only proc from spells like heals or dps spells. I had it procced a lot of times while fishing, cooking, enchanting and herbing. Pretty cool, but usefull? Don't know that yet. At this moment, I am starting Kara with ~1300 +healing, which is enough for a shaman. That's why I choose for the spellsurge, and not the +81 healing.

After 2.2 patch made RED meta proc on each pulse of Arcane Missiles, I can't help wondering if this enchant now has a chance to proc off AM pulses too? Any confirmation of this?

referring to the more recent comments about it proccing from fishing, cooking and the like. This is due to those skills being seen as spells by the game but should no longer happen now that it seems to proc from mana-costing spells only. As mentioned more extensively above this was to remove it from things like zoning buffs and pvp stuff

You can get a mod called "Caster weapon swap"

It switches weapons for you automatically. It also considers the hidden cooldown of spellsurge. If you have 2 healing weapons, this is a great way to put spellsurge on your regen weapon and +81 heal on your heavy heal weapon.

Basically you no longer have to debate whether spellsurge is worth it or not. The mod tracks spellsurge ticks and prints other useful info.

I'm not the author - but I've found it to be invaluable when raid healing. I currently have spellsurge on Gavel of Light and +81 heal on the Merciless Gladiator healing mace.

as an arcane mage, this is amazing, i use casterweaponswapper to switch between spellsurge on my staff from curator, then once its procced switch to bloodmaw magus blade and arcane dmg offhand.
It normally procs on the 1st set of arcane missiles, and because casterweaponswapper switches itself i dont even notice the swapping or have to do anything myself.
A VERY good investment, but make sure you get the mod, its amazing.
Basically, relentless eathstorm diamond proccing off each arcane missile bolt, coupled with this every time its off cooldown and the lightning capacitor, and im easily top damage in raids, the 500 mana to the group every 50 seconds is easily worth the tiny bit of damage i lose by switching to a weapon with a bit less spell damage for a few seconds.
Make your own decisions, but my raids love me because of it :)

This is a hardcore enchant, why?
Because of tow reasons: Its require 5 casters at the same group with it to max the effect,and it requires 2 weapons:
As a mage, I would have one weapon with sunfire and bind it by macro to fireballs.
and Ill have another weapon with spellserge(like blade of the archmage) and bind it to scorch.
Because of the hidden CD and high prox when CD is off, 2 scorches has a good chance to prox it, and then ill return to the main spelldamge blade (100~ spelldamge lost per cast are only around 42 cas of scorch short casting time)
If I was a healer I would go for 2 healing weapons, one with spellserge(would be used for only 1 time in a min) and a main healing weapon with 81 healing on it. this way you enjoy the tow worlds- you also gain nice mana reg and the spelldamge/healing enchant.

My suggestion...
sod the theorycraft, put +81 on everything so your doing bigger heals, and stick a shadowpriest in the group and get 200Mp5 for all 5 members of the group, or, 1000Mp5 for the group, @ 800DPS for the shadowpriest.

Six point whatever mana per five doesn't look that good any more does it?

Oh, and while I am at it, tell your shadowpriest to spec improved Vampiric Embrace and @ 800 DPS they will be producing a usable 1000 Hps (healing per SECOND) for the group.

Why would you stuff around gimping healers for minimal result? Just take the right classes.

Does any1 know what all counts as a spell for hunters? I ask because I have a hunter who seems to have extraordinary proc rates on just about anything and everything he uses. However, I don't want to buy mats for an enchant that won't proc because I don't use (or do) whatever happens to affect this particular enchantment.

This is a world drop so it isn't really farmable. Missed it on the AH by an hour after an Undermine Journal notification, but used trade chat to find somebody who had it and offered 13k.

This recipe has been posted for 24k for the past year or so on my realm. I check daily to see if the few world drops that I need are up there. However, someone made a huge mistake and posted this recipe for 50g just now. geegee :)
