If you need cash quick, farming for these things is the way to go. The Twilight Mobs are easy to kill and drop these about 1/4 or 1/5 of the time. They easily sell for 1g each since the prospective buyers are usually either rich people who want Cenarion Circle items or smaller guilds who are trying to get their members friendly with CC for the buff on the Rajaxx fight in AQ20.

you wont get any rep off normal mobs after revered, so best to save these text til then, then hand in as many as u got.

these are great to get from farming in silithus they still sell for almost 1g each on my server and drop off any of the guys at the twilight camps. about every other twilight you kill drops one and there is 2 turn ins for them. One turn in them not everyone knows about and is on the south east corner of silithus in a cave. This turn in gives no rep but he does mail you a bag of loot for each turn in you do. The bag of loot will sometimes rare recipes so this makes the turn in worthe doing. However from what i found lately a recipe will only show up in your bag of loot about 1 in ever 5 turn ins

I suggest that you do this quest together with Twilight Geolords by killing Twilight Geolords as they have 23% chance to drop Twilight Text aswell.

this almost never drops from the twilight mobs (in my experiece anyway) also this can't be vendored.

Since 3.0.2 this area is a great spot to farm gold as most people will pay a good ammount of gold for these items to get there title "Guardian of cenarius" also the runecloth dropped here is a great second source of income with stacks selling up to 7gold per on my realm. i farmed here for afew hours getting 400 of these texts and around 52-55 stacks of runecloth and 41 abyssal crests.

Sold all twilights texts on the AH 7-8 gold each, All the runecloth 7g per stack and abyssal crest 20gold each.

Great income if you liek to farm gold. since the mobs have little over 3k hp

Good luck finding these on the auction house nowadays. There haven't been any on for the last couple of weeks on my server (Vashj-EU). Then again, there aren't any players in Silithus anymore nowadays either. Try "/who Silithus" and see if you can find anyone. Everybody just heads to Outland and level 58.

Summarising: the only way to get these, is to farm them yourself.

Worth noting these yield rep until exalted. It's been a long time since I farmed these, but when I did, I farmed them in the northeast corner of Silithus. It's called "Twilight's Run"

Just kill Twilight Prophets. They have a 100% drop rate of Twilight texts, and it gives you between 7 and 12.

I found one at the southest Twilight camp. One kill gave me 7 Twilight texts.

Currently level 60 and doing all the old world reputations before I turn experience on and do the Outlands stuff. I started doing the quests for the Cenarion Hold at level 60, all of them conned green and in Grand Marshall gear it was fairly easy. Doing ALL of the quests in Cenarion Hold will easily get you to just into honored or mid way through honored depending on your race and guild perks. Once you have done every single quest there it is time to begin your reputation grind through killing.

The easiest way to do this is to go to the Twilight Base Camp, due west of Cenarion Hold, quiet hard to miss it. Kill all the Twilight cultists you find there and begin gathering text. I am a human in a guild that is level 5, so killing cultists gave me 11-12 reputation each. Twilight text drops from ANY Twilight Hammer cultist in this base camp, there isn't one that has a higher ratio per text then the other, so just kill everything. From time to time the Twilight Prophet will ramble by the camp with two (2) Twilight Avenger escorts. As a well geared level 60 Warrior I had absolutely no trouble with this group thanks to victory rush. Twilight Prophet can drop anywhere from 6-9 Twilight Texts and as I have learned and confirmed, she wanders by this camp on a 30 minute timer.

Farming texts, killing cultists and doing all the quests in Cenarion Hold, average farming time : About a day of steady work.

This macro helped me alot with finding the Twilight Prophet
/target Twilight Prophet
Put the macro on "1" or "2", so u dont have to click on it. Fly around and spam it, and before u know u have found her<3 She drops 7-10 Twilight Texts, so its defintly worth to do.

The geolords and avengers share spawns. If you decide to ignore the geolords because of their lower drop rate after a few clears of the twilight camps the skew caused by your 'unnatural selection' will become unmistakable. You wind up getting less per campsite after the initial spike. So much for being clever and saving a little time. <sigh> Back to grinding.

Effective Farming
Want to farm Encrypted Twilight Text efficiently? Me too!

Assumptions:

Looking for groups to one shot
Prioritizing Twilight Prophet as she drops several at once
Flying routes that mirror Twilight Prophet pathing

Here's a macro I wrote that does the following:

shows how many Encrypted Twilight Text you've gathered so far
allows you to spam target Twilight Prophet while flying/riding
loads waypoints to follow*

Just follow the arrow, spam the button while traveling, land, kill with an AOE spell and repeat!

Tip: If you don't have TomTom or are outpacing the rotation, look for campfires and/or big stones to land next to as that's where mobs cluster.

*TomTom is an addon that can be downloaded separately. Waypoints are loaded only when not mounted.

You can realm hop and farm the Twilight Prophets to get as many texts as possible quickly.

When the new Legion Professions interface comes out and we can see what recipes we don't know, people will soon realise that these Tailoring and Blacksmithing patterns exist. Try and farm as many texts as possible now while Silithus isn't too populated. It took me a few days and farming sessions to collect all of the recipes.

Furthermore, due to the tediousness of farming up the texts and having to wait around 8 hours each hand-in for the bags to arrive in the mail, a lot of people might just prefer to buy the patterns or texts on the AH; so prices might increase too.

Based on an hour of farming these this morning, I'd say that the drop rates have been greatly reduced, and the WoWHead reported drop rates are biased way too high by old, out of date data. Legion brought changes to Silithus, some of which are obvious, (Surprise, the Twilight mobs don't just fall over, and may even kill you!), and some of which may be more subtle.

I needed ten for the hermit, got most of them in the cave on the ring quest. (Twilight's Run, entrance at 70:16) The mobs in the cave seem to have a higher drop rate for the texts, maybe the drop rate as reported. The Twilight Geolords and the Twilight Avengers elsewhere dropped very few.

Worth noting, your repair costs will now run in the gold if you are high level. Also, the Twilight cultist costume items have been changed from wearable items with no stats to consumable costume buff items. The buff applies to each named piece, and each lasts 24 hours.

This 10xEncrypted Twilight Text is also for quest Still Believing from Hermit Ortell which after completing the quest some time later you will get bag Decoded True Believer Clippings in your mail, but with patch 7.3 Still Believing seems it is bugged or Decoded True Believer Clippings has been removed from game, bag doesn't appear in mailbox anymore after you finish quest.

Tried with 3 diffrent char (BS, tailor, LW) with over 200 Encrypted Twilight Text on each char over a period of 7 days ( quest Still Believing from Hermit Ortell ).

Before patch i always get the mail and after patch no mail ever come. Got multiple recipe from it but still missing 1 recipe for BS Plans: Darkrune Gauntlets.

As of patch 7.3.2, be sure you speak to Zidormi (located 77,21) since Sargeras' Sword destroyed the Silithus we once knew and where the Twilight's Hammer resident. You'll have the option to time travel and farm them in old Silithus via Zidormi.

Since it's been awhile since someone has said something, if you're trying to go for rep (like I was), you need to go to Bor Wildmane (53 35) in the OLD Sithilus to get the rep for 10 text turn ins. DO NOT go to Hermit Ortell if you are trying to get rep!

Twilight Base Camp is a common transmog group farming spot, and drops about 500-1000 of these an hour per person. Check the group finder for "silithus farm" if you need these.

Dragonflight 2023

Just wanted to put together some of the posts scattered throughout comments. Not exactly TD:DR, but I'll keep it informative. =)

1) As Dugonballs said, the fastest way from Neutral to Exalted is buying Encrypted Twilight Texts from the AH. (On my cluster there were over 67,000 of them up for only 75 silver each.) You currently need exactly 840x Encrypted Twilight Texts. Alts can mail them to you, there is a mailbox at Cenarion Hold to receive them.

2) PORTAL OPTIONS:

* Take your main city portal to Uldum (far southern zone on Kalimdor continent), then fly N/NW from there.
* If not unlocked, try the Caverns of Time portal (far SE corner zone on Kalimdor with Gadgetzan as the main town), then fly far NW from there.
* If neither are unlocked, Horde can portal to Zandalar's main temple and use the Thunderbluff portal (this city is NE of Silithus), then fly SW from there. Otherwise fly your buns from Orgrimmar on the zeppelin.
* If neither are unlocked, Alliance can take Stormwind's Menethil Harbor boat to Theramore Isle (Dustwallow Marsh, eastern Kalimdor), then fly exactly SW from there.

3) If you aren't already time-phased to the past:

* From Uldum portal, visit Zidormi at /way 56 35 to time shift at Ramkahen city.
* From Theramore Isle portal (Dustwallow Marsh), visit Zidormi at /way 56 50 at the edge of the bridge (E of Direhorn Post).
* From any direction and in case you missed the others, visit Zidormi in far NE corner of Silithus at /way 79 22 on top of the cliff!

4) There is a glowing natural jacuzzi-looking pool right next to your end target, Bor Wildmane. ( /way 53 35 ) He gives quest Secret Communication that turns in your 1st x10 Encrypted Twilight Texts. This becomes the repeatable turn-in quest Encrypted Twilight Texts.

5) Create a simple macro with an easy name (using the in-game default or your fave add-on). Default is /macro to access the menu. You will enter the below lines (sort of as rantaladar suggested) into your macro (make sure each /run sentence on on its own line) and save it w/o closing the macro window. (current as of this date)

/run C_GossipInfo.SelectAvailableQuest(8319)
/run AcceptQuest()
/run CompleteQuest()
/run GetQuestReward()

6) Drag the icon for the saved macro onto your action bar that uses the # hotkeys (# 1 - 9, 0 - = ), you can move one of your others over for now. Now safe to close your macro window.

7) HOW TO USE (for peeps who aren't macro geeks):
With your mouse, left-click Bor Wildmane 1x, and tap your hotkey 3-4x in a row to complete each turn-in. Ka-ching! Repeat with the remaining stacks of Encrypted Twilight Text until Exalted. You'll be turning in each 10 in seconds, the entire process not even a minute if your net is good.
