Rebuilt Gorilla Bot/Rebuilt Gorilla Bot is a pet made from gathering several items.

The materials for Rebuilt Gorilla Bot can only be found as Alliance. The horde equivalent is Rebuilt Mechanical Spider/Rebuilt Mechanical Spider. It can be caged, so you can buy it on the Auction House.

The materials needed are:

These materials can only be obtained when a Faction Assault (incursion) is up in Vol'dun. Dookthar the Destroyer and Arachni will battle it out on the bridge, and whoever wins, drops a lootable cache. The cache will contain one of three materials. You can only loot the cache once per invasion. Items are unique, so it will a minimum of three invasions, more if the world quest does not spawn.

As of the second ever Vol'dun Faction Assault, it looks like they've fixed it so you can influence what side wins. Both Battle Bots now have Energy bars. Seemingly, whichever side hands in more Alkalescent Salt, gets more energy. It looks to be 5 Energy per hand in, and can be repeated after completing the WQ. Although having more energy seems to make you win more often, it's not guaranteed you will.

Once you complete the WQ, don't leave. The battle bot fight may not start right away. Wait for others to give their salt to Binny and/or go collect more yourself.

If your faction loses, just collect more salt to trigger it again; you can loot it after any win. You can give Binny 10 salt at a time.

You can get the items when a Vol'dun assault is up - even without the world quest being up! I just went to the bridge to take a look, another player just turned in some salts (which seem to drop anyways) and "our" robot won. Both of us could loot the item. :)

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. Can you run it on alts?

I've tried it on 5 120s so far, WM on/off, and so far only 2 have been able to loot a cache: the first Horde, and first Alliance, characters I run it on. Today I did Horde main, WM on, (got cache); Horde alt, WM on, (no interaction); Horde alt, WM off, (no interaction); Ally main, WM on, (got cache); Horde alt, WM off, (no interaction). No interaction means I can't interact with the engineer, and the Saltspine Krolusks do not drop briny salts when killed. I've sat waiting through a couple of cycles, reloaded, etc. but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I see the parts are Unique. Does this mean the package can not contain an item you already have or can you just get screwed?

So just an FYI in you haven't found it elsewhere. The assaults run in a sequence that starts with Vol'Dun and ends with Stormsong valley. It alternates between horde zones and alliance zones. Each assault runs for 7 hours and the next one starts 12 hours after that so it's a 19 hour sequence with 6 sets meaning that the vol'dun assault comes up in rotation about every 4.75 days or 114 hours from the last time it started or 107 hours from the point it ended.

Since each of the bots has 3 parts and it appears you can do them at least once per side per assault that means it will take you about 14.25 days assuming that you can't get duplicates from the drops.

Turning in Briny Salt from the Krolusks (10 salts per turn in) seems to increase the health/chance of your side winning.

A few random comments regarding both these "rebuilt" pets.

Your faction's bot has to win to be able to loot the part for your faction's pet. If you are on a server that is heavy one faction or another it is a royal pain to get a victory. The loaded faction farms salts like mad and I had to wait til there was no one around to turn in my salt to help my bot.

Salt can be given to the NCP even after you complete the wq. If you want a better chance at a victory kill the damn bugs until you get enough to top up your bot to full energy bar. I don't know if when you give it to them during the battle if it counts or helps. I gave all mine while the bot was recharging and the energy bar was increased by 5 for every 10 salts. A better charged bot is no guarantee of a victory but it helps. Watching 15 fights go to the other side, I waited for a lull in opposition, farmed my salt and topped up my bot who finally won one.

Some have said that salt drops when the wq isn't up but I didn't have any luck finding any so may have changed. The bots still fight on the bridge and you can still loot the victors side's part. I am not sure if you can get duplicates, but doing this collection on both factions, I have two unique parts of the three of the two times I have done this.

And finally if you have skinning, what a place to farm mats! You won't be able to skin the piles of dead animals fast enough! The glove ench helps

ETA: I went back to get the third part on both factions and got no repeats so not sure if RNG but each bit was unique. I now own both of them. Also I was able to farm the salt even tho the wq wasn't up so maybe this has been changed.

You need to have done WQ at least once to have salt drop from mobs when there are no WQ.

The battle between the two NPCs happens in a roughly 5 minute long cycle between them fighting and getting repaired. Both NPCs are fairly evenly matched, though the alliance spider might win more. You get one of the three parts (unique) when yours wins, you can't loot multiples so you have to wait until the next assault.

So The Simple Instructions to get this pet.

1. Wait For Vol'dun Assault, use an add-on like WQreporter to inform you of it by tracking the "battle bots" World Quest.

2. Get to Vol'dun.

3. Sit on the Bridge near the battle bots world quest.

4. Wait until bots kill each other, yours will randomly win, eventually. Only takes 5-6 minutes per cycle.

5. Collect Drop, repeat steps 1-4 during next vol'dun assault.
