This is one of the Hunter Class Books added in Legion. These Class Books have similar effects to traditional glyph's. This puts a new Ability in your Spellbook.

This ability is identical to the old hunter minor glyph 'Glyph Of Fetch'. Now known as Charred Glyph.

This book is usable at level 40, and the Fetch command can really help speed up leveling. Once you hit 40, get a friend with a 2-seater flying mount to give you a lift to Nesingwary Base Camp in Sholazar Basin and you can get this book, along with Play Dead (so you can get out of combat fast if you get overwhelmed) and Chameleon (great for PvP).

Since the tomes can be used at level 40, it would be nice to have them available in Org/Stormwind/Ironforge/Thunderbluff.

I bought this as soon as i hit level 40, the day before the prepatch. My character learnt it along with play dead. Logging that alt in today, the day after the prepatch.I still have play dead but Fetch has gone poof! It is "supposed" to be learnable at level 17 taking the new levels into account. I went back and it was available to buy again, not showing red as already learnt as play dead was. I bought it again and tried to learn it. it has no level on the tome, but when tying to learn it I go the message I was not high enough! Angry doesnt even come close.

This manual is not working as it should with Shadowlands prepatch. At lv 41 (new leveling system) i'm still not able to use the manual.

Purchased this book and the play dead book as level 17 Pandaren hunter, was unavailable to purchase prior to this level but unable to learn at level 17, 18 or 19. Will update when finally able to learn.

I was finally able to learn at level 47, confirming other comments.

Update as of 11/8/2020: With the level squish, this item now requires Level 17 according to the tooltip. However, I am Level 19 and when I try to use it it says "You are not high enough level" Kind irritated as I just walked to Sholazar from Borean Tundra to get the thing.

Currently the in game tooltip (as well as what you see above on this page) says it requires level 10. I learned it today on a level 21 toon.

I'm guessing it was a silent 9.0.2 fix?

I had this already before. Not sure why I now don't have it and have to go re-purchase the book. Kind of annoying.

My wife's hunter also had this long before Shadowlands and it mysteriously disappeared from her spell book.

Luckily the guy in Trueshot Lodge (in Highmountain) will teach it to you again for only 50g.

I just got this (and the rest of the books) on my lvl 44 hunter and was able to use it right away. Didn’t have to be a certain lvl (bought in Sholazar Basin). Also, the coordinates for the NPC that sells it there is incorrect.

At lvl 38 I went to Sholazar Basin and bought the books from Mardan Thunderhoof. The location on the map is correct, however, I had to pay 50G each for the books.

Life became so much easier now :)

Edit: By the time of 9.2.5, the level requirement has been fixed to always require level 10, no matter where you buy this item.

Still, I would suggest it is easier, especially without help from others, to acquire this and the other Hunter items from Trueshot Lodge / Highmountain, instead of Sholazar Basin:
Outfitter Reynolds in Trueshot Lodge, the Hunter Order Hall, offers this and two other items, with Lucas Sigmund at Nesingwary's Retreat selling the fourth item, The Art of Concealment.
This does not require Chromie Time, so it works on completely new accounts as well. (You can pick up the Legion intro quest from Warchief's Command/Hero's Call boards after completing Exile's Reach and the initial BfA quests)

But keep in mind, each item does cost 50 gold. If you don't have much gold on your Hunter's server, I suggest farming some of the treasures around Highmountain and the Broken Isles - these drop grey items (former AP tokens) that vendor for 10 gold each. The HandyNotes plugin Legion Treasures can help you find these treasures.

The "Wowhead" tooltip says useable at level 10. (Same for the Play Dead manual.)

But, when purchased the "real" tooltip says level 20. (Again, same for the Play Dead manual.)

Sigh...

For those that are wondering, if you came in to a later expansion or skipped legion, you have to do the hunter intro quests to be able to access true shot lodge

I just went out to Sholazar Basin with my Level 11 hunter and purchased this from Mardan Thunderhoof. I was able to use it immediately. There was no wording on it that said it was restricted and I wasn't restricted from using it. I DO have a higher level hunter on another server, but I don't think that is needed to obtain this on a new character. I'm not sure when the change occurred, but I started legion for leveling and then decided to just head out and try to see if it was still available. I'm not sure if I attribute it to being lazy and not wanting to progress any further in legion to get it or curiosity..... but either way, I'm glad I checked it out!

I really wish they would just include this automatically as a hunter spell, say level 10. Or, at the very least sell it on an NPC in the capital cities.

Was just able to get this on my Hunter without going through the Legion Hunter/Pick a Weapon quest. I got my Dalaran stone, flew to Nesingwary flight path, took the road up around to the north and was able to buy this without going through the starting quests.

ALLIANCE (sorry, I don't play Horde. please reply with the directions on the Horde side if this works for you.)

Here's how I got this on a new Alt that was not Boosted in TWW.

Go to the Mages Tower and take the portal on the right of the fountain (if Ur facing the fountain) to WOTLK Daloran called "Portal to Daloran, Crystalsong Forest."

Once in Daloran, take the only flightpoint into the "Sholazar Basin."

Once there go to Mardan Thunderhoof (waypoint in the linked page.)

Mardan sells this book and it still works as of posting date.

To whom it may concern: When trying to locate this manual, or even the Play Dead manual, just go to the vendor in Sholazar Basin. It's right where it's indicated on the map, doesn't matter horde/alliance.
