This is originally commented on the Legion Cooking Guide, but I wanted to add it here as well.

I noticed there wasn't any information on the "Work Orders" which results in Nomi Discovery for the new recipes.

Research Recipes using Lean Shank.
Research Recipes using Wildfowl Egg.
Research Recipes using Leyblood.
Research Recipes using Highmountain Salmon.

Items seem to be used 5 at a time per work order and a 3 hour turnaround. When I did mine, I started with only the eggs. So I did "create all" which came back with a response: All work orders will be completed in 3 Days. I believe you can complete 24 work orders at a time rolling them every 3 hours.

Having quite a bit of difficulty attempting to fish these, not just for materials to cook with but also for the rare achievement. The pools seem extremely sparse, and only yielding me 3-5 catches per school when I find them. When I'm open water fishing, I'm catching almost no salmon, and only catch silver mackerel.

Can anyone provide some insight as to where they're open water fishing if doing so, and/or what strategies you're using to find the pools?

As a hunter, I had a lot of luck fishing these up in the waters on the north side of Trueshot Lodge. I haven't seen any pools and I don't think you can get there without access to the class hall, but if you're just looking for the raw fish, it's very easy access.

They come pretty easily when you fish in open waters in Highmountain. I have gotten a decent amount from just outside the Nessingwary camp, location ...
40.56,49.01 in the fast flowing river.
It's not as bad as everyone is saying. Just enjoying the fishing and you'll have some in no time. :)

If you are roaming about Highmountain for any reason, and you see one of these pools, they are rare enough to make it worthwhile farming it.

I just fished up 40 salmon for the World Quest, and I have 108 mackerel. That's about 150 casts, with a couple of pools thrown in, in fast-moving rivers in Highmountain. Which seems pretty bad for a single World Quest.

I stayed in Pinerock Basin most of the time, that yielded a 70/30 split.

I tried running up and down the river, top to bottom at first for pools, but in four passes didn't see a single pool.

In fishing for the salmon in high mountain, it took me quite a while to get 20 as my demon hunter has a very low fishing skill.

A silver elite Flamescale summoned off a fishing pole at 41.2, 58.0
dropped a stack of 20 salmon after a quick kill.. much easier than fishing

Like many of you, I've been fishing Highmountain Salmon Pools for bait/rare fish.

I wanted to share that I've had pretty good luck fishing the area around the perimeter of Thunder Totem. I was able to find a fresh pool about every 3 minutes by pathing around the base of Thunder Totem, and out into the "lake" adjoining the garden world quest area (Earthmother's Bounty?) Its the large body of water just east of Thunder Totem.

I was able to fish 3-4 pools off each charge of Arcane Lure, and managed to get all the zone rares only using about 6 of them.

I tried running all over Highmountain looking for salmon pools, This seemed much, much easier for me.

Hope it helps somebody out, as this is a tough zone for the rare fish.

Seems 7.1 increased the spawn rate of the schools. Just found 5+ next to each other near sylvan falls.

There is tons and tons of pools in the lake at sylvan falls in highmountain, happy fishing! :)

Looks like the drop rate for pools has been increased. After spending roughly 40 minutes farming the pools in Sylvan Falls I came away with 102 Salmon.

Had great luck north of Trueshot Lodge at Fields of An'she (36.53,45.10) in HM - moving water, no pools.

A lot of Salmon pools are in Highmountains (Sylvan Falls). Best place for farm these.

Fly to Sylvan Falls, mount up and ride South along the river for plenty of schools. Easy peezey.

If you're in need of quick fish, there's a Flamescale that drops 20 salmon in Highmountain (one time deal). You need to click on the fishing rod on the shore for the Flamescale to appear (coordinates 41.0, 57.7), it's south of Nesingwary.
If you're farming, it's best if you can fly; can obviously still do it without flying, just takes longer as you have to swim. I found the best place to fish is the river west of Thundertotem (start at Nesingwary, end at Sylvan Falls). Don't just randomly fish, hoping to find salmon, they have a low drop rate and it'll take you ages. Instead fly above the river, down low, and look out for any schools of small fish. When you hover your cursor over the school, it should say "Highmountain Salmon School" on the bottom right corner of your screen. This particular river had 10+ different schools, close to each other, and each school yields 3-5 fish, with the drop rate 100% if you're accurate enough to get your bobber right above the school. It took me less than 30 minutes to get 50 salmon, and this is with low fishing skill.

Fell off a ledge near a waterfall so decided to try my fishing luck here at loc 54.27, 50.18... no pools ever seen and I was at legion fishing skill of 1.... in my first couple of casts I fished up a ‘Funky Sea Snail” which when kept in the bag the attracted a beast. Killing that beast gave me a 5min salmon lure which yielded mostly Highmountain Salmon along with EIGHT Ancient Highmountain Salmon.

Kept on fishing until about skill level 85 ending with 33 salmon and 114 silver mackerel for the session. Don’t know if the funky snail/lure was a one time thing or if it might return.

Going to eat dinner then log back on to fish here some more, at least until I reach the 100 skill, but see if that funky snail makes its way back to me.

Hunters only: There is a small pool just outside the Trueshot Lodge. Tons of Silver Mackerel and Highmountain salmon. No aggs.

i found a lot (4-7) pools at the lake west for Riverbend, at the Sylvan Falls flightpoint.
