On one attempt (the only attempt I plan on ever performing)
50 Garrison Resources = 13g 40s 22c

Perhaps 2 months before the next expansion, when everyone is saying the same thing, "What the hell am I going to do with all these Garrison Resources?" That might be a good time to waste your precious currency.

Here's an analogy:

Timeless Coin :: MoP (I have TONS of these coins)

as

Garrison Resources :: WoD

If you need gold, there are an awful lot of MUCH better and less time consuming ways to fill the coffers. At least for now.

This gold DOES count for Got My Mind On My Draenor Money. Perhaps not the most efficient way to earn gold, but might come in handy if you need a quick boost for Storehouse, Level 3.

As of 11/24/14 it seems about 15g per sack, which would mean ~33k resources to do the achievement from start to finish, each sack purchase equating to roughly 1/15th of a percent of the achievement.

Again NOT efficient, but if you're a resource Baron....

I just opened 20 of these, they gave me 15gold on average, although my gold achievements, both draenor and the normal one went up 8000Gold from opening 20 which was around 300gold total, very strange bug

Your Full Garrison Cache tops out at 500 resources in 3 1/2 days or so.

At, say, 15 gold avg per Smuggled Sack thats 300 gold every week per character just for logging them on twice.

If you have 11 toons stationed at their garrison, that's 3300 gold for you a week.

i would still like to know if "One idea I had was for a macro that would select "Yes" in the purchase confirmation box." is possible, i hate guessing where the yes box will appear start of wg matches and miss out on a raid1 spot, dailies are much easier when in raid 1.

I can see just buying one out of curiosity... but buying and then selling just about anything else that trader sells (and most items are 20-40 resources per stack of 5) would net you more than 13 gold overall. And with the lowering of the I Got My Mind On My Draenor Money requirement to 2500 ACCOUNT WIDE it doesn't really seem like a likely way to get it.

I suppose if you were reeeeallly close to achieve and wanted to buy your storehouse level 3 plans RIGHT NOW.. i could see buying a few just to tip that scale.

As for myself around the time that i was tending to watch that achievement progress, was about the time when i was building up my garrison and resources were more valuable to me spent on garrison.

At this stage of the expac most of the items the trader sells still have a decent AH value.

Its another one of those sneaky purchases

I've opened a bunch of these (somewhere between 50-100), and I've never had a bag over 19 gold. Usually, I get between 13-17, but I just opened a bag that contained 27g 81s 80c and was astonished! I can confirm higher gold is possible!

Did some testing of Smuggled Sac of Gold myself. Coin is always between 13 and 17g.

I just bought a bunch of these (attempting to get the stupid gold achievement so I can get Storage 3), and several of them were in the 30-37g range. I'd say maybe one out of every 6 or 7 on average. So maybe they have upped the gold range on these things? Might make it a bit more worth it.

For those of you that is annoyed by having to press the dang "YES" button every time you want to buy 20 of those just ryn this macro

27 = Slot nr 27 in the vendor
1 = ammount you want to buy
Just be sure its nr 27 for you :D
Your not able to buy more then 1, but hey you can just make a macro and then spam it, thats what i do.

/run BuyMerchantItem(27,1)
/use Smuggled Sack of Gold

It wont then open the first bag you buy, but it will then open the next ones you do. and after buying the xx amount you want, then just close vendor and press it again.

Usually the bag yields between 13-16 gold, but I have seen, very rarely, 28 gold.

I've gotten as high as 45g, but it's pretty rare.
Generally it's about 15-30g.

Not the best use for your Garrison Resources.

Trade them for Raw Mats and sell those instead. You're almost guaranteed at least 50s per GR. These don't average 25g, so they're not the best use. Draenic Dust has been the best thing to get for 4 GRs, but recently the price has dropped a lot on them. See what you can get, and what's selling for most on your Server.

Simply compare the above figures with the going auction rates of the other purchasable items. For example, if True Iron Ore (10 Resources) is selling for 1 Gold and 50 Silver each on the auction house, then it would be more profitable (on average) to buy a Smuggled Sack of Gold.

If you were to go by the lowest amount of gold yielded by the Smuggled Sack of Gold (13 Gold, 17 Silver, 9 Copper was the lowest I received after purchasing 10,000 Resources worth of Smuggled Sacks of Gold) to estimate the worst possible scenario:

1 Gold, 5 Silver, 10 Copper per 4 Resources
1 Gold, 31 Silver, 70 Copper per 5 Resources
2 Gold, 10 Silver, 73 Copper per 8 Resources
2 Gold, 63 Silver, 41 Copper per 10 Resources

Therefore, True Iron Ore/Draenic Dust (10 Resources) would need to be greater than 2 Gold, 63 Silver, 41 Copper each on the auction house to be more profitable; Sumptuous Fur (5 Resources) would need to be greater than 1 Gold, 31 Silver, 70 Copper each on the auction house to be more profitable. This doesn't account for players undercutting your auctions, nor the auction house cut for every auction you sell either.

TLDR: Purchasing Smuggled Sacks of Gold is an easier (and in some cases more effective) way of making gold than buying other items from the Trader NPC.

Spent 5000 resources got just over 1400gp. I think if you're constantly maxing out resources and don't have the patience to sell on AH it could be worth it for some quick gold.

Big news, guys. In Legion, all of the Garrison and Shipyard missions that reward gold will instead reward extra EXP or garrison resources. This means, the Treasure Hunter trait will become more or less useless, and that we won't be able to farm gold as effectively before through missions.

But that doesn't mean the Garrison will just be a complete waste, since this item (as of my writing this post) has not been changed.

Now, going by the data, the consensus seems to be that each bag gives roughly 15g. Not a whole lot in exchange for 50 garrison resources... but it adds up. If we say that you had ten alts (that you just checked the garrison cache on every three days or so) until all of them had 10k resources...

Well, 10k resources equals roughly 3k gold. If you had ten alts, that comes down to 30k gold.

That's not a bad lump of cash. I mean, it's nothing earth-shattering (especially compared to how much we're currently farming up), but given how little time and effort you need to put into "farming" resources in Legion, I'd say it's more than worth it.

So, when Legion rolls around (or just before it does), it might be worthwhile to build a Trading Post in each of your garrisons and respec your followers into Scavengers, rather than Treasure Hunters.

According to MY OWN average, this is better than putting work orders in the Dwarven Bunker/War Mill and vendoring the Weapons/Armor upgrades.

I got an average of 4.11g per work order (20 Resources), that's 0.2g/Resource.
The Smuggled Sack of Gold averages 15g (50 Resources), that's 0.3g/Resource.

This goes without saying it's even better than buying rush orders.

For anyone wondering these appear to be completely gone off the Trading Post vendor on the Patch 7.0.3 PTR.

Bloody Gold Purse is still there for the price of 1x Savage Blood.

I've spent 10K garrison ressources on 3 different chars and I've earned: 2.901g; 2.943g; 2.879g.(8.723g)
So average 2907g per character.
1=2.907g
2=5.814g
3=8.721g
4=11.628g
5=14.535g
6=17.442g
7=20.349g
8=23.256g
9=26.163g
10=29.070g
11=31.977g
That's a lot of gold! Don't forget to trade before pre patch good luck.

not on the trading post trader today=( i build several trading posts yesterday due to this item because i have loads of alts i rarely play so their garrison resources stack up and i am not gonna use those resources for anything.
