Aldebarann has it right: this is an LOTR reference. The invisibility, 10% of max. health cost (as per losing one's self to the power of the ring), and the name allude to the ring of power. The equal allocation of stats is also a running LOTR theme of Blizzard's (remember The 1 Ring, The 2 Ring and The 5 Ring? - I'm sure I've missed a few.)

Keep the ring for your questing past reaching level cap - remember, we won't be able to fly in Draenor, and it should save some time while questing!

Edit: its item level (and lack of gem slots) looks like it might not be suitable for challenge modes, but we'll see if its on-use effect shows any different. True, invisibility potions last longer, and are a great source of income for herbalists/alchemists, but 10 seconds might be enough for the new dungeons. You could just use the potions, and make things easier all around.

This ring is dropped by a rare mob, a "pale orc" called Gorum.

Gorum can be found in a cave south-east of Gul'Var in Shadowmoon Valley.

Drops off a rare pale orc who looks very similar to Gollum, even has a similar name, Gorum I think it was.

I believe a better reference to the item would be the Bloodknife ring used by assassins in the Wheel of Time series. It would allow them to blend in with shadows at the cost of their life over time. The ring was shaped like a vine with thorns.

It felt weird disenchanting this, as if the act itself would unleash something terrible... Or the fact that I wish I kept it now after learning how useful the ghetto Vanish really could be :P

Because calling it "The Thirty-Seven Ring" wouldn't work very well if it dropped as an epic with +41 in everything.

Works absolutely fine in challenge modes as a perfect alternative for invisibility potions.

-> Everybody equip ring 30 seconds before you want to skip the mobs. Run through, do a countdown and the whole group clicks on the ring at the same time.
-> Everybody drops combat and can continue to use dps potions instead of having a 10 min cooldown.

Also, 100% drop chance. Worth to get and keep this item.

Edit: I recommend NOT to use this ring like you use the potion. Because it doesn't last that long. Instead, as described, you let the tank pull everything you want to skip and use the ring at your desired location in combat!

Edit2: Example of use: Iron Docks. Kill trash up to the second boss. Equip ring. Kill boss. Mount up. Run through all the trash up to the third boss. Use ring. Out of combat. Voilà - you can now change back your ring and use pots for the forth and the last boss.

If you use this as a Brewmaster Monk, the damage will trigger your stagger and break its stealth immediately.

Not usable in raid instances so if you were thinking of getting it to drop combat on trash like I was you will only find disappointment.

Look, I know that we were supposed to work towards getting a shiny legendary ring with a great heap of stats and a funky coop-effect. And why not?

But let's be perfectly honest here: this is the ring you'll take with you into the next expansion*. This is the ring that will save you from your own overconfidence* (although, okay, not in instances or raids).

I love this thing - and if it works after level 100, it will probably scar my average item-level forever. And I am okay with that.

*if you don't have stealth built into your class

This is an -=Amazing=- thing for BfA leveling and farming (herbs, ores).
It's better than legendaries form Legion :)

I strongly recommend carrying one of those at all time if you're not a race/class with in-combat aggro cancellation. It can be used in dungeons as well so it's very useful for skipping mobs and such

My favorite combo to get out of any sticky situations (e.g. suddenly getting ganked in wPvP) is to combine the PBT alongside one of Pandaria's giant insta-cast mount items like the Oddly Shaped Horn.

Didn't drop for my alt DH who maxed level today.
It was a guarantee drop for all my chars before, but I killed Gorum for over ten times today and didn't see a drop.

With Starters and beyond being able to access BfA this ring is a great psuedo Vanish at early levels. This is extremely useful in PvE and PvP combat.

Keep in mind unlike regular Vanish it does not have a delay when you're suffering DoT damage: You'll be revealed as soon as the next tick hits.

Just brought a night elf druid to level 50 for farming, already have shadowmeld, like shadowmeld this too puts you invisible and then allows you to prowl as a cat (or instantly enter flight form and fly away if you're levelled for it). Just the best way of getting out of trouble if you pull too much or draw interest of an elite you can't be arse waiting to die. Now I really don't have to worry about SM being on CD. Incredible item.

EDIT: Just went there to get the item for my level 60 main Nelf Druid, for when I'm in Perdition Hold in the Maw, or similar painful area full of elites. The slight loss of DPS is well worth it.

Just putting this comment out there before wowhead posts rextroys last video and blizz nerfs this item.
Happens quite alot as of late.

EDIT: Took them 1 day to post the video. Lets see how long it takes them to nerf this item now.
