Best way to complete this quest is to farm DM north (non tribute run). Beads also drop from the ogres in the DM courtyard and LBRS, but will take you a much longer time.

According to WoWWiki, the droprate is as follows:
Outside of DM: 1/50
DM North: 1/10
LBRS: 1/7

"Although the drop rate is much higher in Lower Blackrock Spire, there are also far fewer ogres in that instance. It will require multiple runs of either instance to obtain all of the Ogre Warbeads required." :)

Not looking forward to do this, tho.. Hoorah for yet another instance grind :(

Despite the lower droprate, as of now (2.3) the best place to get the warbeads are the ogres outside of DM. They have had their elite status removed and thus they are now insanely easy to kill - much easier than the ogres in DM:N or LBRS. Also, due to killing more, you get a tonne more loot - personally, I'm up to 17/25 beads, and have gotten about 30 stacks of runecloth, a few greens, a few gold in raw money and other bits of junk (Happy Fun Rocks!).

Also, the zone is dead so if you're doing this quest these days you should have very little competition.

Took me about 5 hours and 588 combined Ogre-Mages, Maulers and Enforcers to get the 25 beads. I did all of it outside of DM in the courtyard area and in the hallway-ish place right before the courtyard area.

I disagree with the above comments. I tried clearing the entire courtyard as well as the outlying areas and only recieved a single warbead. I then tried going into DM north and was able to get the remaining beads without even having to clear the whole place. Took me less than an hour, courtyard clearing included. So if you're able to solo DM north, or you have someone to help you, I strongly recommend going there instead.

Sweet mary jesus these guys hurt.

58 ogre elite has 14k hp, thats more than some 70 elites!

As a 70 Fire Mage, I pretty much killed the first guy on his own, then the group of 2 (sheeping one) and reset the instance.

If your a squishy, bring a tank! :)

I experienced a drop rate of about 30% from killing ogre Mage-Lords and Brutes in the first area of DM North. Doesn't take long to farm. Combine the farming with doing Free Knot!.

Does this quest (or any others in this chain) count toward Loremaster of Kalimdor (rather than Eastern Kingdoms)?

I am doing this while 7 quests away from the whole Loremaster title............and it struck me........Has anyone tested to see if the warbeads (if you have any extra) from Nagrand work?

Just cleared the courtyard.........didn't count the number or ogres but got 16 beads......so I think the drop rate is a bit higher than 1/10.......closer to 1/7

BEWARE: Once I gathered my beads I looked at the in-game quest helper. It said to turn in at Dalaran Crater in Alterac Mountains. This is a glitch. The quest turns in at the Library in Dire Maul, same place you picked it up. Just trying to save you the half hour of meaningless travel I endured. *sigh*

Think they've bumped the drop rate on these, dropping every 2-3 kills. Only took about 15 mins and didn't have to reset. Was killing ogres in DM North.

I agree with SirPosty about the upped drop rate. I had about a one in three drop rate in DM North, killing ~80 ogres for 25 beads. Not so bad anymore! The error about the turn-in still remains. Don't try to go to Dalaran Crater; just go back to the same guy in DM.
