This is probably a quest that can be tailored to your level. As SJ stated, any of the bloodsails will drop this. That means the level 40 mages and the tougher level 44 warlocks both drop it, so if you're on a grind to 40, this can help, if you're trying desperately to level up so you can get out of STV and on to tanaris, this is also a great quest to do. Don't ignore this quest! You'll get quite a bit of experience while farming for the quest items.

This isn't a bad quest, but it is a bit of a pain. The drop rate is pretty bad so don't think this is one of those five-minute quests. At least you get volitale rum drops for sale or engineering.

Awful quest if your lvl 42. Did this as a 42 hunter and the drop rate was horrible, took forever to find 15 Snuff, and only received;

Just combine it with the quest involving killing the swashbucklers. You need to kill 10 of them and find the plans and orders. Easily done when you combine them.

Absolutely horrible drop rate. Very frustrating. I'd be surprised if I was getting a 5% rate.

EDIT: On the bright side, I gained just short of 60,000 XP at approximately 400-500 XP per kill.

Horrible quest as a warrior. If you're doing this on the Wild Shore the Swashbucklers will disarm you and the Warlocks are usually close together and wander quite a bit, so don't be surprised at aggroing more than 1 and taking massive shadow damage. Good luck on this one with the terrible drop rate too. The only up side is you'll probably get a lot of experience because of the sheer amount of mobs needed to be killed.

Having done this on 5 or 6 different characters, my experience is that the Bloodsail on the ships (Bloodsail Deckhand, Bloodsail Seadog, etc) drop the snuff more often than their counterparts along the beach.

I soloed this quest at level 37 "warlock". Took me quite long but after an half an hour farming I got all my snuff.

This quest gives since latest patch 2.3 "2250" xp

So far I've noticed that the Mages and the Raiders have the highest drop rate. While I've only needed a handful by the time I found this area, I've had them drop off each mob to finish off the quest quite quickly. Despite the fact that it took me forever to get the first 10.

Roughly 32, 72 for the Raiders and the Mages.

this quest takes some time. The drop rate was somewhat low for me. If you are coming out of BB go right to the Wild Shore. Theses pirates will drop them, and you might want to also do the quest The Bloodsail Buccaners!!

Bloodsail pirates have lowly armor ,but DMG this pirates are very strong ! Generalship fight with pirates is : be using a magic shield (mage,paladin,priest) , minions (warlock) , stunned (rogue or sometimes even warrior) . Others class (hunter,shaman) donť have any problem with pirates , hunter = be using pet , shaman = totems + weapons .

I know ! I much writing but it is good instruction on a quest by a much xp !!

Easy to accomplish as of 2.3 update. At about 30,88 there are 3 boats anchored. Swim out to one, go thru it... and so on. I had 13 of the required 15 snuff by the time I made it thru the 3 ships and alot of other goodies. I ran the deck of one ship a 2nd time and filled the quest.

Start at 27,69 and slay the group that includes "pretty boy duncan". move across the bridge and kill the group there, and by the time you are done move back to where you started. Did this as a 39 hunter and it took FOREVER. the drop rate for snuff is terrible but they all drop cloth and some drop volatile rum which vendors for 4s or can be sold on the AH for a decent profit. happy hunting :)

fine quest, i recommend you to grind for this at the most southern point of stranglethorn, south of BB.
proper drop rate, good xp.

Just as a note, there seems to be a better drop rate amongst the swashbucklers then amongst the warlocks, despite the listed rates being almost equal. I got snuff off of maybe 2 or 3 warlocks I killed in the camps and got the rest of the snuff from the swashbucklers.

On a side note these are pretty lame pirates. Only one of them dropped any rum!

I've done all quests in the area and still only have 11 snuff. I hate these quests and tend to discard them right away.

It may be nice to combine the two quests, but this one definitively takes much longer, and I got tired by the time I had 7/15. I'll probably come back, but the drop rate is very very lame

It was really easy as a warlock. I used my mininon to kill their's. And using Shadow Ward made no damage on me. I almost never got damage.

Drop rate wasnt acutally that bad for me, seemed to drop every second or third kill.

It would be best to not worry about grinding the snuff out until you've completed all of the other quests involving the Bloodsail.

You can do this quest along with Keep an Eye Out and The Bloodsail Buccaneers(Part 4). Saves you some time!

The drop rate was rubbish. I got about 15%. It took about 2 1/2 hours to complete as a lvl 38 warrior. Though the upside of this quest is getting 30,000+ xp. If you do this with Keep an Eye Out and The Bloodsail Buccaneers (Part 4) it is a little more worthwhile.

you guys must be really unlucky, 40% chance on all mobs and guaranteed 100% on brutus. and i did that quest 13times, from classic 1.8 till now.

Ah, the sea life. I ain't gonna say it's the good life, but it's my life.

When I get into port I like to find me a good bottle of grog and some high quality snuff. Nasty habits but what's a pirate without his vices, right?

So you can imagine how heartbroken I was to find out the herbalist here in town has gone and sold out of the stuff. Says his shipment got hijacked by those damned Bloodsail Raiders.

I bet a fearless <class> like you could convince 'em to share the goods, eh?
