Even though you pick this up in STV, the quest takes place in the Hinterlands (you get there through Hillsbrad if you haven't already). Any of the Witherbark troll villiages work. If you can't find one 29,58.

To do this quest, kill 20 trolls. There is a 100% drop rate and you'll get a Witherbark Skull. Once you've gathered the skulls (you need 20), right click on the Pike that was given to you to "Use". It'll make a new pike with the heads on it. Go inside one of the villages and right-click on the new pike and you should get your (Complete).

Most of the village areas have at least one patrol, and the way the stones and walls are setup it's hard to see soemtimes. You can easily get a pull of 3 or 4 if you're not careful. Also be advised that the alliance base is pretty close by so on a PvP server keep an eye out for alli as you'll probably see at least one or two while questing.

Quest mobs are 41-43.

I used the camp at 32,59... The have a droprate at 100%, so that won't be any problem...

When u kill the trolls it drop also many Wildvine, which can be sold for 1 gold for each, at my server...

I was a little loss finding the way to Hinterlands. So for first timers you can get there from Hillsbrad Foothills, just northeast of Durnholde Keep, there is a path through the mountains that heads north. Watch out for Aerie Peak (the Alliance city), unless you feel adventurous

I just completed this quest, and when I drove the pike into the ground, it spawned right in my toon. I got stuck and couldn't move. I figured maybe some combat would dislodge me, so I hucked an axe at a nearby troll. Silly me, instead of the troll coming to fight me, he just threw axes back! Being a warrior, my ranged damage is almost nil. It was starting to look grim (haha) when after what seemed like ages the pike despawned and I was free to go kick his toll butt.

There is another village at the co-ordinates 23,58 exactly. There are a lot more there than the other village stated. But be careful, because some alliance ravaged the whole place.

What really sucks is I went into an area (at level 42) with 44+ leveled things, killed over 20, got the skulls, then found out I was not in an area compatible with the pike. So, I had to find a village of things around my level, kill a mob, then plant the pike. On the bright side, it was not too far away and i got an easy quest inside.

The witherbark village is at about 32,70(the most southern lake) their level 40-41 mobs
100% droprate, kill 20 place the grim message inside the town.(inside the walls)

I managed to solo it as a level 38 rogue quite easily. I concentrated on the level 40-41 scalpers around Zun'watha. To stick the pike in the ground I just used stealth, stayed as far from the remaining mobs as I could and used vanish when I was done.

The skulls you need are these http://www.wowhead.com/?item=9320 - if you click the link you will see there are a number of NPCs at various levels you can kill. So if you happened to come to the zone when the quest was green/grey, you can kill higher level trolls that are still worth XP and then go back to the lower level troll area to plant the pike.

If you plan on doing this quest with a friend or in group, then be aware that each member will have to gather 20 skulls and create the pike and place it in the ground.
I was dual-boxing and hoped that driving the spear in the ground with one character would flag it for both, but to no avail... As such, I do not hold myself responsible for the murder of 20 more trolls. ^^

this info is not correct. im lvl51 as im turning this in. at that time it was already grey and i received a meagerly 900ish xp.

The Witherbark trolls were once allies to the Horde, but they betrayed Thrall... and that must be punished!

Here, take my pike and go to the Hinterlands, far to the north. You will find it northeast of Tarren Mill, a village held by our allies, the Forsaken.

When you enter the Hinterlands, hunt Witherbark trolls. Gather their skulls and drive my pike into the ground at one of their smaller villages, Hiri'watha or Zun'watha.

Show them their vile actions are of consequence!
