This quest is one of the five ICC Weekly Raid quests that were released along with Patch 3.3.2 (Others are listed here).

It can be picked up from an NPC that emerges from the elevator after you clear the first pull after Lady Deathwhisper. It is also later turned into the same NPC after completion.

To complete the quest, you continue to clear the trash after Deathwhisper, but instead of boarding the gunship after you defeat the bone dragon, you keep clearing the trash past him. Eventually you will see a large frost giant patrolling the back side of the spire.

Clear enough trash that you have plenty of room to move around during the fight.

Before pulling, arrange your ranged (DPS/healers) so that each player has a partner they are stacked on top of, and each pair of players are at least 10 yards apart. This is due to the Death Plague debuff that the frost giant gives.

During the fight, the frost giant will periodically (~20 seconds) cast death plague on one random player from the raid (3 on 25 man?). 15 seconds after the buff is applied, it will cause 8k damage to any nearby players. However, if there are no players within range of the player with the debuff when it expires, that player will instantly die. Any players that are in range of the debuff when it expires will also gain Death Plague, and the player that the buff was transferred from will gain Recently Infected, making them immune to Death Plague for the next 35 seconds.

The frost giant will also frequently cast a knockback that tosses everyone about 20 yards into the air.

Make sure that the healers are prepared to heal any player that is in range of the plague when it expires, and this mini-boss suddenly becomes very easy.

The Sack of Frosty Treasures contains 5 x Emblem of Frost and approximately 10 gold.

Our raid group just got this weekly raid quest. We where suprised that this NPC suddenly rushed to our group and gave us this quest. He'll be standing on the 1st trash mob you'll deal with after riding the elevator. So far I can recall 250 rep from killing Rotting Frost Giant (I'm revered) and additional 350 Rep points upon completion. 5 Frost badges were given as a quest reward and some gold as well as the Sak of Frosty Treasures which contains 5 Frost Badges giving a total of whooping 10 Frostbadges by doing the quest alone.

Currently, if you:

pick up the quest,
do not complete it,
finish the Gunship encounter,
and soft reset the instance,

...then the quest giver NPC will not appear anymore. The result is that the in-game quest marker will still mark his location but you cannot turn it in. It is not known if this is a bug but it likely is.

This is our strategy, and it worked flawlessly:

I recommend TWO tanks for this:

Tanks pull the Giant against a wall (corner preferably so they don't actually "move"), and the Ranged/Healers get set up 10-15 yards away in a PILE. We had 2 shamans, so we set up a ring of totems for everyone in range to stand inside. Have someone set a F L A R E somewhere off tot he side 10-15 yards away, trying to make a triangle (so the melee can get to it too).

Have everyone in their respective spots (Ranged/Heals, Melee, and Tanks). Whoever gets the debuff (will be only one), have then run to the flare. Ranged/Melee/Heals can just run, but if it's the tank with aggro, the other tank needs to taunt, so they can run. Have ONE person run up and take it off, and the person who originally had it runs back to their spot, and the new person stays there for someone else to take it. Basically playing Hot Potato with it, except the player moves, not the debuff.

Now, he'll cast a second one on someone so there's now TWO debuffs floating around. Simple to get rid of, though. Have both people with the debuff stand on the flare, they'll cancel each other out. The reason you don't do this with each one (have two people run up, tak eit, then stand there) for each one, is they need to be separate debuffs. If it spreads to two people, then those two people stand there, they kill each other since they were from the same "seed" debuff. If they're two different debuffs, they cancel each other, but will still spread to people that don't have it, so they still need to stand on the flare.

ALSO: If you completed the quest after a soft-reset, the NPC that completes the quest spawns down in the Lights Hammer area (the portal into ICC) right beihind and a little to the side of Tirion.

If you forget to turn in the quest while raiding, the NPC will appear in the beginning of the instance. If you're alliance he appears next to the Ashen Verdict ring vendor, the horde NPC should be somewhere nearby too.

As if this place weren't enough of a madhouse to begin with, we're fighting a war on two fronts up here, with the Scourge on one side and those blasted Horde dogs on our other flank!

We are here to clear a safe landing for our vessels, but a behemoth of a giant on the other side of the Ramparts is hurling debris at anything that comes close and keeping our smaller ships at bay.

I'll be honest -- he's a bit much for us to handle, but you and your companions look up to the task.
