This rare spawn is f'n Shaningans!! He can Ice block you for 12secs all while begin able to do damage on you.

No lie, this guy hits for 100 damage, on average.... also, it's frost damage, which ignores armor. If you're a Shaman, try dropping a Frost Resist totem, Stoneskin then Healing Stream when tackling this guy. You may need to use a healing/mana potion, because even with those defenses in place, you'll need to heal frequently. Make sure to interrupt his freezing spell with Earth Shock, or else he will most definitely kill you.

According to the official Warcraft Atlas, this mob is rated an Average Rare with a respawn timer of ~21-32hours.

This guy is quite simple. If he uses his "freeze" spell on you, you die.
A 12 second stun that makes you take damage, have fun.

Yeah, this guy is a pain in the ...... 24Ret Pally good gear, he still wasted me on first try. He'll Freeze you and just chip away 50+dmg a hit, and he hits faster than most mobs. And for some reason bubbles are dispelled by him too so have lay on hands handy( if you're a pally) 2nd time got lucky and SoC proced every swing. Bring a friend as he is annoying and The other named Elemental will sometimes sneek up behind you but that one will drop a New Quest item. Enjoy

Alarm went off today and, because I had never seen him in eight years, I went looking for him with a level-appropriate alt. I was doing the Rod of Dartol chain for old times' sake, so I was all over and around the lake. I couldn't target him at any point starting when the alarm went off and I never found either him or his body. Looked for about 40 minutes and then gave up.

I've run into this a number of times: Scan NPC (or the other one; can't remember its name) goes off and I'm in the right area but I can't find or target the rare. I used to think it was just because somebody else was quicker and the corpse despawned really quickly but recent experiences suggest something else. About eight months ago, a group of us went hunting down all the rares we could find, with a focus on the newer ones that we had never seen before. We camped known areas and kept records of what we had found. We learned that clearly some rares "spawn" where they are historically supposed to, but they don't actually appear. I don't think this is "working as intended" because (despite the designers' occasionally snarky sense of humor) there just wouldn't be any point to it. Let's just hope it's a temporary glitch.

By the way, I hate to tell you this but many of the rares' loot tables have changed. Most still drop good stuff but not necessarily what they originally dropped. Some of the lower-level rares now drop nothing but most (not all) of the higher-level ones almost always drop something useful.

I can confirm that he's still spawn, very easy to kill with my lvl 20 rogué just ambush him and normal rotation, spent like an hour, i was about to give up after reading the comments here when shows up at north next to the pillars. Unfortunately didn't drop the pants but worth the effort to confirm he still spawn.
