Undocumented Nerf to Halls of Atonement Dungeon - Wicked Bolt Nerfed

Tanks know the power of Wicked Bolt in Halls of Atonement and a couple hours ago, a hotfix was pushed to live servers which nerfs the Wicked Bolt spell on live realms and the tournament realm.
Wicked Bolt Nerfed in Patch 9.1
A couple hours ago, the
Dardo Malvagio
spell cast by
Disintegratore Degenerato
s in Halls of Atonement was nerfed on live servers. The cast time on the spell was increased to 2 seconds (was 1.5 seconds).

Inflicts 14 Shadow damage to an enemy.
Cast Time changed from 1.5 sec cast to 2 sec cast
The
Dardo Malvagio
is interruptable and can absolutely destroy tanks if the
Disintegratore Degenerato
s aren't interrupted or Crowd Controlled, so this is absolutely a welcome nerf. The timing is a little odd considering Dungeon tuning usually comes on the Weekly Reset and is announced beforehand in addition to the MDI Season 2 Time Trials currently going on with Halls of Atonement being one of the dungeons.
The History of Wicked Bolt
Interestingly, this nerf to
Dardo Malvagio
comes after a buff to the spell on Patch 9.1's launch.
Blizzard
Depraved Obliterator's Wicked Bolt damage increased by 27%.
This buff was criticized when the Patch went live because this note was an outlier in the Patch Notes. Many of the other changes in the Patch retuned difficult or cheesy strategies for mobs and bosses, or were just straight nerfs, but this change was a clear buff on something that already did a lot of damage.
Now, the
Dardo Malvagio
cast time has been increased by 33%. Ultimately, this means that the overall DPS of Wicked Bolt now is lower than in Patch 9.0 by
about 5%
when no interrupts, and the damage is slightly more bursty. With proper interrupts, the DPS will be lowered a little more due to the extended cast time -- you can kick later in the cast to prevent the damage. However, this nerf should affect groups that don't interrupt the most.

Nerf Mid MDI Time Trials?
This hotfix comes undocumented in the middle of the MDI Season 2 Time Trials. We reported earlier that the
Time Trial
phase had begun earlier today, which will last until Tuesday, August 24th at 10:00 AM.
This means that teams that practiced today will have a slightly different damage intake pattern for the first part of the instance. Teams may opt to try to pull more with the nerf to
Dardo Malvagio
now and we'll have to see what teams end up doing going forward. It's just a little weird that this hotfix would be pushed after the Time Trials had begun and be undocumented, considering the Halls of Atonement is one of two dungeons in the Time Trials, but there's still some time left in the Time Trials to adjust for this change.
