So by now I can imagine just about everyone has seen the preview for the new Ulduar raid dungeon.
If you haven't, you can find it here:

Once again Blizzard provides us with a walking tour of some of their most epic locations. It's beautiful work, and I'm really excited to see it in action—one of the things that I especially like about World of Warcraft is the architecture, and the Titan architecture is my favorite of all.
What really blows my mind about all this, though, is how good Blizzard is at keeping secrets.
Stop and think about it for a minute. Up until the moment that the news gets broken (typically by Boubouille over at
MMO-Champion
), have you ever had
any
idea, beyond the vaguest rumors, what was coming?
Do you remember all the fuss surrounding the Diablo III announcement? There wouldn't have been anything worth mentioning if it hadn't been for the fact that
nothing had been leaked
. No screenshots, no movies, not even any reliable rumors that Diablo III was the game that was being announced.
Blizzard is a
huge
company. There are thousands of employees. And yet somehow, they've managed to create a corporate culture where
every single person
, from top to bottom, will keep their mouth absolutely shut on matters like this—and I think it's part of the reason for their tremendous success. I've spoken to Blizzard employees about this before. I even invited someone I know from Blizzard to come roll a character on my server, and he told me that Blizzard had a policy stating that if an employee ever became publicly known on their personal WoW account, they have a "Witness Protection Program" which enables the employee to change his name, server, even his gender and appearance. And this isn't optional—Blizzard employees are
required
to do it.
I may get in trouble just for telling people about this. =/
So when I see this trailer, it still amazes me how
little
of the info therein was available before Blizzard officially announced it. We had names of bosses, and some screenshots—but even those had just been provided by Blizzard a few days earlier. Nobody has a sense of the climactic like Blizzard.
Edit:
Anyone else notice that the music sounded like an homage to their original Ironforge theme?
