Stormsong Valley Truffles Hotfixed - Lichen King Achievement Now Obtainable
23/09/2018 alle 10:48
One of the biggest mysteries regarding BFA achievement was the
Uso intelligente degli esplosivi meccanici
achievement, which requires the player to hit the rare mob
Re dei Licheni
Bomba di Sporonite
. With the
September 21 hotfixes
, you are now able to loot the Sporonite Bombs and hit the rare with them!
Fixed bugs that were preventing Truffles in Stormsong Valley from behaving as expected.
How to Obtain the Achievement
To obtain the Sporonite Bombs, you need to track down truffles in Stormsong Valley while using a
Naso di Maiale
to heighten your sense of smell. You can loot a free Pig Nose from the
Cassa di Legno Intagliata
hidden in Briarback Kraul, or buy them for 25
Spine di Spinomanto
. You can loot Briarback Quills from the Quillboar mobs in Stormsong Valley. The
Muso di Maiale
buff lasts for 15 minutes.
Truffles can be found under the trees around Stormsong Valley, and can only be looted if you're using a Pig Nose. Each truffle has its own graphic, and the ones you're looking for this specific achievement are big and gray.
There are four other kinds of truffles that give buffs:
Tartufo della Valle
. Obtaining the buffs from all 4 truffles at the same time grants you the achievement
Un tartufo al giorno
. You can buy and sell any of the truffles (with the exception of the Turbo Truffle, which grants you the buff immediately once you loot the specific truffle) on the Auction House.
Once you obtain a Sporonite Bomb, all you have to do is throw it on
Re dei Licheni
! You will immediately get the achievement. You can then proceed to either kill the rare mob or just run away to evade it.
Make sure you enter combat with The Lichen King before throwing the bomb, or else you might not get credit for the achievement.
The achievement is a reference to one of the most famous instances of raid teams being banned by cheating, although it is discussed to this day whether this was a valid ban or not.
The guild <Ensidia> had obtained what would have been the World First kill on
Re dei Lich
. However, Ensidia's raid team was met with a 72-hour ban because of an item,
Bomba di Saronite
, to bypass the mechanics of the fight. Below is part of the e-mail sent to members of Ensidia. You can look at the source link for more information and a rant on what happened (WARNING: Strong language).
Date of Violation: 03/02/2010
Character Name Involved: Muqq
Type of violation: Exploitation – Abuse of in-game mechanics or glitches with intent to exploit or cheat in World of Warcraft.
Details: Use of Saronite Bombs to bypass The Lich King fight mechanics Consequences for Account: Account suspended for 72 hours, all items and achievements gained removed
We are writing to inform you that we have had to place a warning on your World of Warcraft account and temporarily suspend it. It is with regret that we take this type of action, but it is in the best interests of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game. The use of these items bypassed a major portion of the encounter, significantly reducing the difficulty in a clear abuse of game mechanics. After your suspension has expired, you will be able to access the World of Warcraft servers again.
The controversy happened because Saronite Bombs were a popular Engineering used by high-end raiders as a way to squeeze in more damage on fights. However, thanks to a glitch, using Saronite Bombs dealt siege damage and that somehow rebuilt the outer ring of the platform you fought the Lich King on. One of the biggest difficulties of the fight was having to deal with the smaller space after losing the platform during Phase 2, and this meant more space to drop
, as well as effectively being able to ignore the Val'kyrs that would spawn and pick a random player to drop off the platform (players picked up by Val'kyrs would just land on the rebuilt platform instead of being dropped off the room).
Since combat logging was very primitive and sites where you can upload logs like
were either very young or just non-existant, there was no way players could tell that the Saronite Bombs were causing the glitch to happen.
