With patch 4.3, these are useful for leveling up Engineering. Used correctly, you can get 2 points of engineering per craft.

When used, you get 2-3 Pezzi di Metallo Rovinati and a potential skill-up with the same chance as crafting a new box

These can increase engineering from 75 to 130. I had 400 made for me for when I was ready to use them and noticed that I got no more skill points once I hit 130 even though I continued opening for at least 50 more.

Orange: 75 - 119
Yellow: 120 - 124
Green: 125 - 129

130 is also when you no longer gain skill points for making them. So if you plan on making a butt load to power level that little part, keep in mind the skill cap on opening them.

These now go from Orange to Grey at 140 skill level.

I am a level 26 Gnome mage and i,m on patch 5.2 and they did go from orange to grey at 140. After i had 8 boxes left i used them all the first one got me to 141 and thin 3 box's got me to 142 and thin 4 got me to 143. So the box's keep leveling you after making the box's go grey but at a rate as if it was green. I do have the guild perk so i don't if this had anything to do with it or not ill post a screen shot that i,m getting skill points after 140.

These gave me a skillup to level 139. Although one time, it did not give me a skillup @ the 138 mark.

So strange, I've played since EU launch, this is the first time I've seen this item.

Not sure if this is intended, but the tooltip says to 125, and I stopped getting skills from clicking the actual boxes at 120.

I created 19 of these boxes to get my gnome hunters engineering up. After disassembling one of the boxes, it gave me a skill point, however rest did not. Note that the skill after the only one skill up was 119. A bit pointless to use these if they don't give skill points as intended, at least according to the tool-tip itself. Or I just had a bad luck with them.

Has anyone else experienced similar thing with these boxes?

It looks like this doesn't work any more. I created some last night on my Engineer and got to 109. I then opened them and didn't get any skill ups at all. Just stay away from these.

Just noticed this item in my inventory when I was doing some quests in Ashenvale, I guess it dropped from Rotting Slime, which seems to have an extremely low drop rate.

Still gives no skill points on disassembly.

I just confirmed in 8.0 that this is now giving skill points up to 125 upon use! HUZZAH!

The tooltip still says it levels Engineering up to level 125. I just used some and got up to 138. I'm out of mats to make more, but I'll try to see how high it goes before it stops leveling Engineering.

Edit: It appears to max out at 140.

In addition to these finally giving skill points upon disassembly (Yay, thank you, Blizz!) the disassembled box (aka Ruined Metal Parts) vendor for slightly more (2s 37c) than the unused boxes (1s 75c).
