getting it! i already have like 20 vanity pets. one of each animal except certain really rare ones. i dont even have all of one type. i could get all the parrots snakes and other ones it'll be awesome, just TRY and beat me to that skunk!

If you complete this Achievement you will get the Reeking Pet Carrier (a skunk). The Achievement will be active from patch 3.0. You can collect 50 vanity pets before Wrath of the Lich King. I have listed most of them below. Good luck!

Technically the chicken egg isn't alliance only, the feed to get it is only sold by alliance, though, so you have to get it through the neutral auction house.

There are 2 other ways to get the Westfall chicken - you can either ninja it from some alliance guy doing the quest (kind of an a-hole maneuver but they can easily start it again) OR you can get a friend with an alliance toon to do the quest for you.

Once the quest is done and the egg is sitting on the ground, anyone can pick it up.

(BTW, the skunk is great. I was hoping he'd let off a puff of gas to other mini-pets or something but he doesn't. Just another mini-pet, but a cool one nonetheless).

Or you can get the chicken to drop the egg on one of your Alliance characters, log in on a Horde character and pick it up.

That is wrong. My boyfriend and I tried this today, while the chicken did look at me quizzically from all my /chicken at it, it did not turn green to me. In fact, when I witnessed an Alliance player doing the quest the chicken turned RED to me. I had to end up having my boyfriend come on his Alliance character and do the quest so that I could loot the egg. It is impossible for the Horde to do this quest, PERIOD (yes I even had the Chicken Feed, I sat there eating it as I waited for my boyfriend). You can, however, loot the egg if an Alliance member does it.

So basically, don't bother sending the feed over to the Horde side.

It does make sense that it is BoP, but I was a bit disappointed to find this out since I was hoping to save it for my Death Knight come WotLK.

Today in raid, Stinker began chasing a Black Tabby and Bombay Cat! I guess it's new in this patch that Stinker finally lives up to his description form Breanni. It's really cute.

To summarize everything about this pet:

After completing the Shop Smart, Shop Pet...Smart achievement, you get mail from Breanni (the Pet Supplier in Dalaran, named after the webmaster of warcraftpets)

It contains the Reeking Pet Carrier (a skunk).

The mail says:

The "black cat" is a reference to Pepé Le Pew (a male skunk) and Penelope Pussycat (a female cat with a white white stripe down her back) from the Warner Bros cartoons.

Since patch 3.0.8 this Stinker pet chases any Black Tabby Cat and Bombay Cat with some red hearts above his head (see screenshot). After running about 50 yards (don't worry, they won't get aggro) the Black Tabby Cat will return and Stinker will have a broken heart above his head. One of the funniest things I've seen so far with vanity pets! :D

I must've had this pet for over a year, and I just noticed Stinker uses the bear base model and animations. Just thought that was an interesting tidbit. Tidbit is a fun word.

By the way, if you don't see it in your pet list, the pet's name doesn't start with 'Reeking' but it's 'Stinker'.

As of the current (15-Apr-2012) Mists of Pandaria Beta Build (15589) The following Pet Achievements have been remove from the General Tab:

Menagerie which awards Brilliant Kaliri (Brilliant Kaliri)
Littlest Pet Shop which awards Celestial Dragon (Celestial Dragon)

That leaves the future of obtaining these pets associated with the achievements uncertain. There is a section in the achievement screen for "Pet Battles" but it's too soon to tell exactly what will happen. If you are close to finishing one of the achievements and getting one of the 5 pets, may be worth trying to finish just in case!

Now that the Pet Battle system is live, there are a couple of changes to note:

First, since pets are account-wide, it's much easier to get this.

Second, since capturing "wild" pets via the Pet Battle system counts for this and other "X number of Pets" achievements, it's much easier to get this ;)

Third, and most importantly, the reward is no longer a "Reeking Pet Carrier" sent to you by mail. Instead, Stinky (the name of the actual Skunk pet) just shows up in your Pet Journal.

On a personal note, I got mine soon after capturing a "wild" Skunk. Not sure how I feel about that...

If you have collected 50 pets recently, don't worry about going to your mailbox. You don't get the letter from Breanni anymore. Stinker is automatically added to your pet journal.
