Due to the absolute absence of hit rating on current Trial of the Crusader tanking gear, it may be worth switching these out for Vivid Eye of Zul providing you would stay hit capped.

This gem is mentioned in Tun's Feral Druid guide as a yellow socket option for Bears. He personally said he does not use them, however not very many people play at that gear level anyways. http://www.ensidia.com/forum_topic.php?forum_id=36&topic_id=28598 I use them for my own bear.

Did a little digging for additional information and here we go, http://elitistjerks.com/f73/t36999-feral_druid_numbers_updated_3_2_2_a/ It isn't just about defense but, it shows you the benefits defense gives you + various other bear and cat stats.

specifically:
Defense Rating
1 DefenseRating = 0.008% dodge and 0.008% chance to be missed and 0.008% reduced chance to be crit (Crit reduction not needed for PvE if you have SotF )
122.96 Defense Rating = 1% chance to dodge and 1% chance to be missed and 1% reduced chance to be crit (Crit reduction not needed for PvE if you have SotF )

1 DefRating = 0.64 DodgeRating (counting misses as dodges)

SotF is Survival of the Fittest of course.
