I had one drop from scavenging a mechanical mob near Inventors Library in Storm Peaks on my hunter.

I haven't been able to find any schematics so far that uses this part.

Confirmed, cannibalized from Library Guardians.

These can fit in an engineering bag and have no known use.

This will probably have a use in a future patch or simply was 'going' to be an item that never was. If it was the latter, I'd guess it was going to be made from titanium.

Either way this is currently only good for vendoring. It's not really worth hanging on to.

I skinned one from a Stormforged Reaver. It's probably just a low drop rate off of any engineering skinnable mob.

If you're waiting for blizz to fix an orphaned engineering item or add content to engineering to make it feel finished, then estimate patch 24.01 sometime in the year 2030 a recipe will be implemented for these. It will be called Crapp-E and will create a robot that takes your gold.

Must I be an engineer for these to drop? Or are they only obtainable by "skinning" the mob?

As of Cataclysm, theres still no use for these little things, best just go vendor them.

Someone on my server is posting them on the AH for $28,000-$30,000 Gold. I have a feeling some poor sucker will buy them even though they are useless junk right now. Or maybe we should just horde them up. LOL Maybe I'll hang on to mine just in case my engineer ever needs them.

These used to be used for something, now used for nothing, guessing they are now trash, but someone forgot to mark them as such.
